And tension is still there a little DS has totally disassociated from us for the most part. But last week he made a concerted effort to leave his room and talk to his sister - progress! And today he's cleaning our car inside and out (I bribed him out of his room away from the computer with monetary rewards for this!)

nope no peeling required, just slice them up, you'll get flecks of dark green through the lighter green of the soup (unless you stand smushing it for hours of course) which I think is quite attractive. I shove my stick blender in and do the on/off thing a few times till the potatoes break up and there's no discernable rings of courgette to be seen. If you do it, hope you enjoy, I love it. Except one time I tried to grown courgettes and they looked fine, small but fine. Unfortunately the skins were like hard plastic. Had to pick shards of them out the soup as they didn't soften at all. Today I tried tiling for the first time! Obviously with DP helping I don't think I'd have had a clue how to on my own. I cut the tiles and managed to stick them on the wall and they're still there! Woo. I won't say total success until I see none fell off overnight. Tomorrow I will grout 😃 (I've done that before). It was really fun and even though it was messy I enjoyed it and would do it again.
DP will plasterboard the front of the chimney breast next and level the floor inside it and I will plaster the front facing wall of the chimney breast.
We were going to get a quote to do all this but I was like, noooo we will do it ourselves 😁.
The only trade over and above the extension guys we will pay for now is the electrician which I think is important to get right.
DP will attempt the plumbing too - fingers crossed for that one we have had success and disaster with plumbing before 🫣.
I dropped DD off at her friend's house half way through the day and we stopped at a pub on the way to collect her this evening just to sit and chat and chill as we had been non stop all day. I didn't mind too much though as I enjoyed the task and got a sense of satisfaction from seeing job well done. But it took us eight hours (that's including breaks though to be fair we're not that slow 🤣) to tile the inside of the chimney. I'll maybe get a pic of it when all done to show you 😁.
Right off to sit and chill with a movie and hot drinks and some snacks now. Hope everyone had a good weekend.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. My neighbour tried tiling she was so proud and showed me pics. Then the next day sent more pics. All tiles in the bath, 😐😞. I'm waiting for DP to come up with a cuppa. I'm hoping he doesn't say mine are in a pile too on the floor 🙈😆.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Today I've decided I'm doing something chill for me. I'm off to a sound bath and I'll meet my friend there 😌💖.
I will pop to the shops on the way home and get DD cake and dinner she requested for her birthday. I wanted to bake the cake but once again we've got dust settling everywhere from DIY so I'm just going to buy it.
Also need a card and I think that's it. Might get her a baby bottle of rosé wine as she seems to be all about being a big girl. She can have it with her dinner lol.
I need to get the car insurance and tax sorted (£20! So cheap) and tomorrow we pick up the car. I'm quite excited for her. I got bought a car when I passed my test but I already had a baby so my dad bought me a clapped out old ford (was grateful don't think I wasn't) which had the biggest boot I ever saw even since and said...so you've enough room for the pram and food shop lol. Once I got used to driving that I could've driven a truck I think 😆. This new car is a cute colour, cute look, tiny boot - enough for a hand bag lol and totally girly. I think DP won't go anywhere near it 🤣.
Okay off to water the garden and then get out of the way of the builders that are due in (will check back in about the tiles later lol). If they all stayed on the wall- yay!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I've only ever been to one sound bath at least I think that is what it was. A summers day and gongs played whilst we were in a woodland stretched out on a yoga mat. One of the most glorious evenings ever.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

The tiles are still up! Yay me! 😁🙌🏻
TBF though DP was literally stood behind me telling me what to do most of the time 🫣🤭 but still.
Need to grout them and level the floor then I will plasterboard the front. We really wanted to keep the original bricks on show hence why we went for the brick effect 🤣. The original bricks were black, crumbling and very very shabby (no chic at all 🤣). So this is why all the effort to kind of go for that look again, I wanted natural but safe and non crumbly into my pots as I cook lol.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000.
