I went to Iceland one January to see the northern lights but was unsuccessful, it was a fabulous trip nonetheless. I saw them last year in my back garden in my pjs😂

Yes, the site is annoying at the moment but I'm hanging in here as I realise I miss it if I'm not catching up with everyone, even the threads I don't comment on :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

    Ditto! Me three!
I am currently on a bus. Great chance to catch up and sit and do nothing. Getting a bus is so much easier without a pram (that was the last time I was a regular bus user! So stressful on double deckers). £6 for the day. Not too bad I'm sure I used to pay 50p though 🤣. Driver users the brake far too hard I've nearly hit my head twice...😳

Car was dropped off early and I made it to my friend's house after finding the bus stop. Actually she met me at the bus stop, she lives in a rabbit warren of a new housing estate and I would have gotten lost 🤣. She had bought vegan cakes so I felt it would be rude to say no even though I have been fasting all week. They were nice too. 😉 So we sat and caught up with tea and cake and then I helped her with two job applications. One very long arduous one and the second one much easier as it was the same company, different position and it had saved everything from the first one 😁👌🏻.

My tiles are ready to collect. Will do that tomorrow. Also have a sink to collect tomorrow which is brand new and exactly what is on the shopping list to buy! Savings of £70. DP has been busy and has managed to get money to pay for the kitchen on interest free credit 😁👌🏻. We will put the money we took out of savings back in now and pay for it monthly with that. And we have a buffer in case we need it.

Fajitas for dinner. And then I need some quiet time. I love catching up with friends but feeling a little frazzled now and tired. Have to do the bus journey all over again tomorrow to get the car back too 😐. It's fun for a day..... 🫣.

Right off to the next leg of the journey, another bus I need to wait for.

Morning all, slept really badly last night, it's turned into hot sticky nights again here after a week of nice cool nights. Shame. At least I have no work so I can just potter around at my own pace today. I've only just drunk my first cup of tea and am still sat in bed- gratitude for that 😁😉.

We had delivery of the roof yesterday so it's sat under some tarp waiting for the next trades to come by. I'm going to get dressed and go out in the garden for a bit. Little and often suits me out there as it's a bit too hot for all day for me and my back can't cope with the bending all day (weeding is the main job let's face it).

I need to tidy through the house a bit but again no great rush just trying to keep on top of it all. *Contain mess*

Hopefully the car will be ready to collect sometime this afternoon as DP needs it for work tomorrow. I will get him to call them and see where it's at in an hour or so. It will take me an hour to get there on buses too (I find that crazy considering it's a 13 min drive).

I'm going to make a list of all spends so far from savings towards this kitchen in a mo so we don't run away with the budget. And then I'm off to enjoy the sun 🌞.

Omgosh. *Containing the mess* job - I have barely scratched the surface. I took down SO much washing from the kids rooms. I'm not sure how it is all dirty as they've been at school all week so I'm going through it to take out what isn't dirty!! Plates, mugs and cups etc in their room. Full bins. They usually are good now and bring it all down for me. I know both are really tired from school lately but no excuse really. DS has been at work experience all week and has had to bike there and back (up a very steep hill on way home). So I will not say anything and just do it this week. He's been exhausted by the time he's got home at 6. Also emptied all bins and picked up things off their floors. I might do it again tomorrow so it's not a week's worth by the time I go in next.
I also watered all the plants that needed it and did a mini clean on bathrooms.

Waiting to hear about car, it's in for MOT now.. fingers crossed as I don't have much luck with mixing cars and mots usually 😌😅. DP said he will book at Uber for me to collect it as it's 99p more than the buses I need. It worked out cheaper yesterday on bus because I ended up getting three to two different places but today I just want to collect. If I can get It early enough I will also collect the tile order and get cash out for the sink I'm collecting later.

Right back off in the garden. I've been in and out all morning but I really can't hack the heat these days like I used to be able to 🫣🌞

Car failed the MOT as I had a feeling it would. UGH...and they can't fix it until the 22nd. I have collected it for now as MOT hasn't expired and it is safe to drive still. Annoying though. We are hoping the warranty we bought will cover most of this. We know at least we have no service charge nor MOT charge as that is definitely covered. We will have to wait and see about the rest.
I collected the tiles on the way home and will go out later to get the sink. I am hiding in the front room with blinds shut and watching a true crime programme. too hot for me so I will do some gardening later on when it has cooled down.
I need to go and get some shopping tomorrow as food is running low. Having to get it every few days is a bit annoying but good for budget and it's helping with the space issues at the moment.
I've picked up a few surveys over the last few weeks and have been getting small payouts with them. I will carry on picking them up as and when over the summer, I am on three very different sites that seem to offer different types of surveys so depending on how long I want to spend on them I choose between them  The money has just been getting transferred to my current account and getting absorbed there tbh.

Had updates on some deliveries, stove is due before Tuesday, as is the extractor. The beam for the chimney breast is due hopefully next week too.

Sorry to hear that your car has failed MOT.

So hot outside today and is going to be a scorcher over the weekend, i keep going outside for 10-15 mins then back inside to cool down for a bit.

Fab that things are coming together with your kitchen, always a nightmare whilst it is going on but will be worth it when you have a lovely new kitchen to cook in.

    xx

I had an intuition it might fail. DP was convinced it wouldn't.
We are waiting to see what is covered on the service plan as some of it should be. There are two fails and three advisory (brakes). I am a bit peeved that we bought it from them only a few months ago and we haven't really even done many miles compared to what we usually do, perhaps 6000, so a little annoyed.

Anyway, today I have a friend coming over. The same one who abandoned me camping. 🫣 I want to fly through the house doing a quick clean. Now I've had more time to myself I've loosely started fly cleaning again, I used to follow it religiously years ago when the kids were small. But generally I'm just doing the basics of it. The one I always found most fun was putting some music on and a timer and cleaning as much as you can before the timer goes off 😁. Anyway, will do that then wait for friend.
Also speaking to someone about another potential job later today. Won't say too much right now I don't want to jinx it.

Right not hearing much from the kids rooms I think everyone slept badly in this heat so I will go move them along or they will be late.
