We used to go to France by ferry in May half term most years - it isn't hot hot but it is abroad. We stayed at sites with a swimming pool rather than at cottages, and it was less expensive than we expected. Might be worth looking at Euro camps too. Half the barrier for us was the cost of passports as we all needed new ones at the same time.

It's a long way down to Dover though, so we generally stuck to no more than an hour and a half drive once we got to Calais.

She's in Gibraltar so no garden KoK she's in an apartment ...KK she did say if she's not around we could have it all to ourselves but her plans change very last minute because of her partner's job not sure we would be able to time it right. It will work itself out if it's meant to, I'm sure of that ☺️.

I've woken up this morning with a raging headache. They're getting worse by the day. This is borderline migraine territory with how I feel. I've taken some tablets (to counteract the side effects of the tablets I'm already on 🤨🙄) but I think if not gone by next week I'm going back to docs to change these tablets. I've had a headache every single day since taking them. This morning it woke me from sleeping at 6 it was that bad.

I'm not really in the mood for work today 🤨🤣 are we ever though I guess?! Especially when it's work as opposed to career 🫢😆.

My friend that I'm teaching meditation too has recommended me to a client of hers and she is near me so can walk to me and would like to know more about some lessons. This could be a nice side hustle....more because it gives me some spiritual satisfaction during the week as opposed to making a lot of money - it doesn't pay that well. More than my current hourly rate though 🤨 but that's not hard to beat. I've told her to hand my details over ☺️.

DS hates it when I do his sandwiches I've offered him banana and peanut butter or cheese 😆 DP goes all out making exciting concoctions and I CBA. He'll be glad when DP is back for Monday packed lunch lol. Anyway best get back to sandwiches now I've had my tea and toast!

Sorry to hear about the headache. Those tablets seem pretty pointless to me if that's what they are doing to you ...?

Being in the mood for work .... I vaguely remember that ....  ;)
Lovely that your friend has recommended you to one of her clients. I think you need more of this and maybe even transition into this being your main income stream? :)

I'm intrigued by what sandwich fillings DP does for DS. Mr KK is forever moaning that he is 'bored of sandwiches' (he's been making sandwiches for work for 44 years so I suppose the well does run dry eventually. Occasionally I HB him an egg when I am doing some for me, to stop his moaning for a day ;) ) so any new inspiration would be very welcome ...  :)

I cant be any help on the sandwich front.  For 35 years I was happy with either cheddar cheese, cheddar cheese and cut up pickled onions or lemon curd.  The times I had something other than that would be probably less than 10.  The cheese on its own would often get micro'd for 35 seconds for a completely different taste to cheese on toast.  Except one day when I thought I had cheese but ended up having warm lemon curd.  Which was actually really nice lol.  (Easiest counter to anyone complaining about it is to tell them to make it themselves of course, I'm sure they'll be fine with yours after that.)

Well done hopefully getting another client for private study.

I think I cross posted with you. I actually considered a cheap France get away...I might look into this some more. DS used to go to a school that overlooked the Dover ferry port. But we're a long way away now really (as opposed to up the road when we were in Kent). Still It might be worth a look at prices for this, thanks 🙏🏼 ☺️

DP will use all sorts of random things in the fridge from falafels and salad to sausages and tuna (we buy for DS) and eggs and cress ...and well, whatever he can find. I'm a bit boring and cannot be bothered for the most part. 🤣

Haha yes I'm just happy with the same old too. I usually take a salad for lunch and that can be random. With grapes and nuts and other fruits and whatever leftover we have. I'm more creative with that then sandwiches for sure!

Long old day, not a NSD ended up popping to the shop and spending a couple of quid. A LSD but not quite NSD. Headache has lingered all day not helped by having a particularly badly behaved class today. All day. No rest for the wicked 🙄. Although I had a saving grace in that they had an exam so I had a two hour lunch which I definitely needed. I had that headache on and off all day. Need to go back to docs. Not happy with these tablets at all...
The two worst offenders in my class today...both had same name. That name was same as my ex H. 🤣🙄🤔....hmm...I was actually having flashbacks as I kept repeating...are you even listening to me XXXXXX? 🤔🤣 Haha. Must be something in the name.
Glad it is Friday. Totally had enough of this working week.
Chilli and wedges went down a treat. Then we made popcorn and had movie and downtime. So needed. Might have had a couple of G&Ts too and biggest win here- no hot flushes the second a bit of alcohol passed my lips! 😌 So nice to be able to eat/ drink what I want again. The only good thing from these tablets (I do want to try something else though the headaches are getting debilitating.)

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Lots of money shuffles done this morning ahead of the new month. Groceries, bills, Christmas/ Birthday, clothes accounts all fed. Just need to find the details for the savings account we have now as I don't seem to have saved it on my phone. Then we can pay across the money for EF, hols, skiing and driving lessons. Waiting on my maintenance too before I pay a couple of other accounts I have.

DP has plans for the garden beds today. I want to dig up a new bed and have another clear out at the back. We're slowly getting there with the clearing and only have a little more to do before it doesn't look neglected any more ☺️. Hopefully the sun will come out and we might get to see the partial solar eclipse due here.

Possibly a spendy day...we will see if we can get some more scaffolding planks for the beds..but don't know if the guy is working today so that might be off the books and we will just get on with other bits in the garden instead. There's plenty to do out there. And I'd like to get some compost and seasonal plants and plant up those blue pots I managed to find scattered around the garden. I think they'll brighten up the patio a little once done. 🌺🌼🌸

I'm glad it's Monday. I've had the busiest weekend (once I got going 😆). We went to a couple of shops to price up some pergolas and compost and then realised it was 'mother's day' weekend. Ugh, the carparks were rammed, people losing their temper everywhere and roads backed up for ages. We priced up a few things and came away empty handed. Took so long to do. We came back and we dug over our new bed (I'll show you a pic in a mo), then DP wanted to fill it with compost so it was back to the shop on Sunday. We also got enough to do the two beds he's already made. Cost a small fortune in top soil, compost and manure. We also bought some cheap bedding plants (whatever was on an offer to be honest) and I spent the afternoon filling the bed, it looks pretty and I'm hoping it will grow before it gets eaten. We also cleared one patio off and filled with plant pots from around the garden (ones with things growing) as it's a sunny wall there, it looks very nice now. The big pile of stones- well we used some, in the bottom of beds, then raked it flat which was a job in itself seeing as though the pile was around three foot high in places 😌🙈. We created another spot for sitting there out of slabs we found around the garden. It's not perfect but it's better than it was and gives that section a purpose rather than being an odd pile of stones. The 'rockery' we inherited has made my new bed for me. It looks better than the rockery in my opinion 🙈🤷🏻‍♀️. DP painted the new beds before filling them. They sit in front of our new 'woodland' (i.e a dozen trees lol). It's all coming together quite nicely and looks more and more like our garden every day.
We both ache like mad today though. So I'm kinda glad to be going to work.
I think we've decided to spend DP bonus on the greenhouse we wanted. It's not enough for a holiday but it's enough to pay for a nice greenhouse. 🤔☺️.

We have basically spent the garden fund already in one weekend but it went pretty far. It's helped make one bed, and finish off two others ....and I also filled several pots with the compost too and finally managed to properly plant up all the plants I pulled out of the fruit beds last year. I never planted them in pots properly and thought they'd all die to be fair...I just never got round to it. I'm pleased to say all but one survived! So they're all potted up nicely now too. Lots of red ones (leaves) I'm not sure what they are yet.
Anyway here's a couple of before and after pics then I best get going for work (late start thankfully). We pulled out all the huge carpark hedging on the right and made space for all the fruit trees I had. All the trees there we kept but they've been pruned so they don't look as big in the new pics, they're all still there though. I totally cleared the left side (much of that is the bits in pots now) for fruit bushes. We didn't want/ need all that grass so we've divided it up into sections for growing flowers and fruit/ veg.
