Oh, and I forgot to say, the second we left the garden I saw magpies swoop in and they inspected every single square inch of it 🤣 found some worms I think. Then the blackbirds, pigeons were allowed in and they did the same and then the tits and a few other garden birds that I wasn't sure of (they were too far away from the kitchen to make out properly). They all loved the two cleaned up bird baths and happily bathed in them as I did some dinner watching them 🥰. Think they all approved.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Sounds like you had a very busy weekend!
But the garden is looking really good. I love the flower bed and those blue pots are in really good condition, you must have been very happy to find those in the garden.♥️ ♥️ ♥️🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸Decluttering 2025 So far 403 / 2025

looking great - I wonder if you have a couple of flat stones you could get into the round bed before things bush up ? If the fountain lady has water for a bird bathhouse be in and out of there regularly cleaning and refilling it.
Lovely to see such a transformation for your hard work

That looks fabulous. Love having the statue / birdbath in the middle of the round flowerbed - gives it a lovely focus. And I adore the blue pots - my favourite type. Not so easy to find now.
I have also come back to work for a rest. Moved c. 12 barrow loads of chipped bark (still more to do!) yesterday and my hips are hurting!

Who needs a gym membership when you've got gardening to do eh KK 🥵 I'm still aching now.
Daisy that might be a good idea as I can fill it with a hose but can't get into clean it. I'd neglected to fill it since moving in and it was always a nice feature in the last garden so wanted to make sure it was somewhere prominent to remember to fill it. But it does get dirty very quickly you're right there.
Thank you flowerpot one of the blue pots was mine but I found the rest scattered just filled with slimy mud and filthy. Also found the little bird bath next to them too so filled it with stones and water (I think it's actually an old water fountain feature as it had another bit that sat on it).
Having a nice rest at work but really would like to be sat in the sun as it's nice a warm in the sun.
There is a small Mr Morries shop due at home today and amzon one too. I couldn't be bothered with shopping after work today so just ordered basics and also bulk of loo rolls, washing stuff for clothes as all empty. I will need to prob do a proper shop Weds but I think I can find food for dinners and lunches until then.
I started my day with a fast and have only just broken it. I couldn't breathe in my jeans yesterday they were so tight 🙈🤔 so need to lose a couple of lbs. I like food too much so will fast instead 😆. I had a nice healthy lunch though as it's all that was left at home. Perhaps that's the trick to healthy eating, only keeping bare minimum in the house ... good for the wallet too 🤣😇.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I'd like to say it was a NSD but I had a call from the orthodontist for DS. I had booked him in for an initial appointment and had to pay a booking fee which we get back if we go 🤔. Anyway that's done and he is due in end of the month. I'd like to get the braces on him as quick as possible now so I can sort both kids out at the same time. His is around the corner from where we live and work/ school but DD is nearly an hour away ...if only they were both local!
I've come home and planted up some oregano and thyme and put the leftover pansies between them for some colour. Also planted the fern I bought and the irises I had from the last house which I completely neglected all autumn and winter and had thrown into an old washing up bowl (meant for the bin) and they're thriving?! Wth? They've not even got any mud on them only water from the bowl and not much of that as there is a hole 🤣 so anyway I felt they deserved a prime spot considering all they've been through and still surviving. So they're in the fruit patch as all the bushes in there are tiny still so plenty of space. I may move them on again but they're so shallowly planted they will survive a move (I've moved these particular plants about ten times from house to house 🤣 and they refuse to die!)MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Afternoon all, I'm sat in the garden making the most of the sun as I know how the English weather goes and takes the sun away with it just as we're all warming up to it 🤔🤨🌺🌼🌸. I've decided to try and pace myself as gardening is never ending. And sadly my energy ends quickly these days. I did my half hour job for today, I cut the grass (actually took me 45 mins as had to rake it too) the compost heap has the cuttings which are mostly moss 🤔 might need to feed the lawn to encourage some actual grass to grow 🤣.
Tomorrow is my day off then I only have two days left before I get two weeks off. I slept really badly last night though so I'm tired today.
Last night I was naughty and spent quite a bit of my pocket money on some ferns a local lady was selling. We have a particularly shady part of the garden because of all the trees on that side plus it's north easterly facing fence side so ferns and suchlike were on my list to purchase. Kinda struck lucky last night as I'd set up a FB notification to let me know when some went on for sale and I picked up a dozen for £50 ... considering I had one from the shops for £12.50 the other day I think these were a bargain and will fill that shady part. My plan is to try and get ground cover to discourage weeds as these parts have a problem with ground elder and bindweed. I'll try and clear one area tomorrow to get a few in the ground but I think it will be a long tough job as there is a lot of rocks on that side still (might build the walls of my new raised bed up a bit more, or build a new one). For the rest of the month I'll be looking for freebies or cheap things to add to the garden but otherwise just working with what I have. We have money put aside still for the raised beds ....in fact DP may have already got the wood for that, will ask him when he's finished work.
Tomorrow the extension guy is coming to do the survey. The planning has already gone in and we are hoping to have it built before end of summer. 😁
DP ordered the greenhouse for me 🥰 it's much smaller than the one I initially planned on getting because I've moved it's spot and cannot fit a large one in there. It's safer from the winds though there as our entire stretch of this bit of the road is a bit of a wind tunnel I've noticed when there is wind and storms. We didn't have enough for the holiday so we thought this is a much better use of money and he feels like he's got something to show for it too. 4-6 weeks delivery so we will get the area cleared and cleaned up and leveled before then.
ExH has not paid me any money for the ski trip and totally ignored all my messages. I can't believe he gets paid more than me and DP put together, he lives in subsided housing, he gets some money from a trust fund thing to look after his GF's daughter now she passed away and yet he is still always always always pleading poverty to our children telling them how I rinse him of all his money 😠. If only. Grr. Ok rant over but I was relying on that money as I cleared out a fund to pay for it. If he's not going to pay I'd rather know up front.
Right suppose I ought to do dinner, but I have found the perfect afternoon sunny spot and it's so warm.....😎 Maybe just ten minutes more.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. I think I'm correct in believing you try to take the high ground in your dealings with the children but do they at least understand that what he says is just so much apple sauce?
