Let it be known....I am up to date on the washing 🙌🏻 halle-feicking-lujah.
DD dropped to train station for a sleepover at her friends house. I would have driven her to her friend's house as she only lives a few towns out of the city but DD is enjoying being independent so I don't want to take that away from her 😁🤷🏻♀️.
I will start on dinner soon, I've literally just finished watching the third Bridget Jones whilst folding a mountain of washing.... ironing is another matter 🙄🤷🏻♀️😁. Everything is clean though I will take that as a win 🤣
DP has been asked to take on more roles with work that he seems excited about. I'm glad he enjoys his new job 😊. If I were asked to take on more roles I'd be telling my boss where to stick it 🤣🙈.

Morning all. ..well last night I sat up reading a book as I didn't have much left. Then proceeded to dream about a stalker and murderer all night 😂 perhaps I should have a specific bedtime read something nice and calm? I cooked the mushroom wraps last night. They were a little bland so I added more spices than the recipe called for. I didn't eat the wraps I had my mushroom mix with rice that will save me buying GF wraps today. Not sure what I will cook tonight yet, I thought I'd get the mushrooms out the way before DD returns home though as she wouldn't have eaten any of it!
DS has his opticians then dentist appointment This morning. I will grab bits from Mr T in between appointments that I couldn't get yesterday.
I'd like to tackle my wardrobe today but I'm not sure if I will have time yet. I won't be home until around 1 and then I have a few jobs I need to do downstairs. If I don't I'll put that on my list for tomorrow. Thurs is a fun day for me and DD 😁 so I want all jobs done by then..
I'm thinking about my garden. It's beautifully long but there's not much going on yet aside from a few side beds and lots of grass. I'm thinking old scaffolding boards turned into raised beds. I know a guy who sells them cheap and they're already treated and strong. We've used them lots for other projects and this time we wouldn't even have to make them look good by spending hours sanding- as they're just for a flower bed.....herb garden in particular is what I'm planning, right in the middle of my lawn about half way up the garden! Lavender, rosemary, curry, sage, mint (planted in a pot ) and other ones I need to buy yet- those are what I already have. It's quite exciting and I have a vision in my head and it looks very ramshackle cottage garden style. I will have a path running through the beds with trellis attached so I can make an arched walk through between them and grow something up those too..... I have a VB on my phone for the garden, I'm wanting it to be a beautiful hideaway to potter in 😁....but like this...
Right off for a cuppa then to wake ds up...MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I am reading my vegan magazine (bought six issues for like £6) this month is a budget one 😍
Expert tips for getting money savvy-
Maintain things- repair rather than replace.
Use things up- i.e toiletries, stationery etc
Reduce processed foods - make your own pizza for example.
Think quality - buy better rather than buying twice.
Shop your kitchen before shopping
Make saving fun with small games and charts, small goals etc
Borrow it - i.e books/ toy library
I do all that.... What I need to do more of....
Practice gratitude 😍 🙏🏻 I do this sporadically since working. Need to go back to it.
Eat seasonally - make meal plans around the seasons fruit and veg. This is something I don't currently do.....🤔 I will try this.
Will research some meals I can make from things that are in season right now when I'm home. Cabbage? Onions? What else? 🤔🤣
Okay opticians appointment anyway...then I'll be back to ponder some more!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Loving the garden vision !It’s going to be a lot of work though
those tips are good reminders .. I need to shop my kitchen more this weekthings are falling out the freezer etc - at least I am buying more frozen veg though now as it keeps me healthy when I am busy and does not go off
No clue why I occasionally stock up my kitchen Apocalypse style when the nearest shop to me is 3 mins walk and I have giant supermarkets 10 mins away walk ..
I do need to make more gf bread though in my bread maker - less packaging too !
but been so busy I just buy it when reduced but my HM one much nicer and cheaper !DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I also over shop too much and then sometimes I will eat the cupboards down so much I am like old mother Hubbard. I think I need to find a balance there 🤣MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. What a spendy day. And so long too!! We waited for the opticians, then the barbers, then the dentist! After the opticians ds needed new glasses, and he's a nightmare to get out of the house and do things like with so I decided to just do it there and then...£85 later 😵💫... Then the food shop for stuff I couldn't get in Mr L....sadly with a child with me the £40 budget was blown. Somehow donuts, juices, and other bits ended up in my trolley so that was around £60.
Then we decided to do the barbers as it is two minutes from the opticians and we had fifty minutes to kill before the dentist...£12. I decided to feed us as I was feeling faint by this point so grabbed some subway meal deals £17 ish?! Then onto the dentist where we have an NHS dentist still. It seems no one else does so they were all coming in after us and being seen....ten people I counted in after us all seen before us 😡 considering NHS is not really free and it's paid for in taxes this annoyed me a lot. No apologies either. But if we are two minutes late to that place they won't see us and will send us away. Grr. Anyway as I was in there DD calls me and says can you collect me from the train station. So I left there and went straight to get her and didn't get home until just now! I was expecting to be out an hour tops 🤣🙈
I was going to make a cheesecake but not sure I can be bothered now 🤣 time for tea and DD has put Harry Potter on so I might have an afternoon off now.....and breathe....MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Oh my goodness i'm exhausted just reading about your morning, defo have the afternoon chilling.
Also love the garden idea1 -
Love the garden vision. Great budget tips, I've been doing "mostly" that. Have bought frozen broccoli to use in soup - I'm hoping that will work ok!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!1
