I am so glad I'm not the only one thinking this. I didn't want to sound ungrateful but I really wanted it fixed properly and lowered the first time.....never mind 🙈🤣. The fire does work. I move the plants and rug out the way when we use it.
I would love a fireplace like our old one with a nice mantle and big mirror ⬇️

    I miss that living room....

Anyway.... Oh! I started colour coding my books after reading the Konmari books ...I decided it sparked joy to have a pretty rainbow shelf 🤣 it drives everyone else mad though as they can't find anything. They'll be like where's the dictionary and I'm like let me think, ummm, the spine is light blue so it will be on the blue shelf. They think I'm mad. 😉 My sister especially so as she does her library wall by author and alphabetically....🤷🏻‍♀️😁.

Today I have to go shopping. I managed to make a yummy lentil shepherdless pie and pudding last night for two very tired and hungry skiers.  DP realised how unfit he was...he can barely walk this morning. Once again I've pointed out he probably needs to leave his desk and do some exercise every now and then. It highlighted how much we relied on having a little dog around the place to remind us we needed exercise. So anyway I have shopping to do. I've downloaded a 'budget' vegan meal plan from BBC website for one week for two people. So I've doubled the shopping list and saved the link and I'm going to make all of those meals this week. all are something new which is nice. - red lentil coconut dhal, cumin mushroom wraps, chickpea fattoush, courgette, coconut and spinach noodles, store cupboard curry, courgette and pea pasta, smoky lentil enchiladas bake.... The shopping list was already done on the website so I thought yep that will do! We've lived off of tofu and rice with veg and JPs the last week as I wasn't too well....so be nice to have some variety. I expect DD to moan and starve herself. So I will make some hummus and veg sticks to put on side plates so she gets some food in to her at least. In fact I have a hummus in the freezer ready to be defrosted and eaten!

    This week's jobs-
    Kitchen organised- DONE ✅
Wardrobe organised and cleared out -
Bathroom cupboard cleared out and reorganised-
    Shopping -
    Opticians -
    Dentist -
Call drs make sure my details were updated -
    Take DD to cinema -
Enquire about gym memberships around the city and see where is cheap enough for DP and I to try for a month -
Do my vision board - I found it yesterday! -

Right best crack on whilst energy is still good. I got some electrolytes yesterday and they helped me to keep going yesterday. I will give some to DS and DP today too 🤣❤️

I can see why you liked the old fire place it is beautiful. Can you try and re-create have you asked DP what does he say? It looks like you have some good plans to keep you busy over your annual leave. Enjoy your freedom. And get going with that vision board, It will be good to put the ideas down, sometimes it just opens up this portal within ourselves I feel, that will hopefully unlock doors.

ohh thanks for the link - going to try that !
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

nice to have full pay but will they claw it back ?
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

  • LWAP- I wonder if I missed the cut off point so I will expect it gone next month. Although some staff members were sure we get paid for the first three days. And that's all I had off work? So maybe they won't...I'll be expecting it next time though.

Definitely push to get the fireplace sorted! The proportions are currently all wrong and as for the arch... you've done a good job of minimising the impact, but it'll keep annoying you. I'm not so bothered about a mantelpiece, but proportions are important, and then you can work out what need to go above it (it anything - my mum currently has nothing above her fireplace and oddly it looks right).

As for the sick pay, put it to one side, just in case. It may have been too close to payroll for them to process.

Sick pay deductions are often the month after.

I can see the attraction of the rainbow books but I would never be able to find anything again.
  • I've spoken to a friend at work and asked her as she was off sick when we started - November. She never had any deductions taken at all. But I will be expecting it. It's okay and I won't bother holding anything back as next month DP is due his bonus so it will cover the shortfall (if any).

I've done the Mr Lid shop. £111. Still need Mr T stuff. There were roadworks on the way in there though so I turned around as road was closed and you had to go all the long way around. I'll do that later on when it's quieter. Have £39 left in budget for the bits I need in there which should be plenty.

Popped into the drs on the way back they've updated the system and I could book appointment with Dr. However I told them not to waste time doing that as I want blood tests ...so they've asked Dr he's agreed and I've got appointment for blood test in a few weeks rather than a few weeks for a GP appointment and then waiting for blood test appointment after that. She was shocked I hadn't used them in over five years. I said not through want of trying as I'd rung a few times, even made a couple of appointments but after such a long wait I'd cancelled or they'd cancelled me. So hoping they won't cancel this one now....! (Several hundred new homes have gone up and they all use this GP which was already overrun so they are always cancelling appointments or you have super long waits!)

I'm off for a walk as I see a blue sky 😍 then I will do some ironing and start dinner ...will have to choose one of the recipes that I managed to get all ingredients for in Mr L....then I will pop to Mr T for rest of the shop this evening I think it will be quiet then.
