I got distracted earlier when I went to do a catch up post.
Lost post so let me see if I can remember what I was putting
So yesterday was a spendy day. I finished DS2 presents, wrapped all presents I had bought (after buying paper). I took DS2 to town and we changed address at bank (finally!) I went shopping without a list which was a total fail. I am not sure why I did this 🤦♀️...I got my hair cut (it is very short for me and thinned out a lot, it feels way better!)
DS1 has sent money over for the kids, DD has some for her room makeover. DS2 has some for a sp0tify account. So we tried to do the spotfy first, as there was a 3 month free trial. However once you added the 6 months paid subscription it cancelled out the free trial, cue me on customer services for nearly an hour getting it all added back on. Also DS1 sent over £60 for it and six months was £72 so I had to add towards it (did get a bit of cashback so it worked out to around £9 I added).....
I might take DD shopping when her room is done with the money she has for her room makeover and let her choose her own bits for it. At least we have the nice bed, wardrobe, curtains etc from old house. New curtain rail is definitely needed though. And I need to price up a new window as her one is not good, it is very old and has a lot of damp around it (think I have moaned about that previously!). I am wondering if it is better to do one window replacement at a time rather than the whole house as we know a window glazier and he's a friend who lives locally so could do it for us between other jobs he has on. I will ask DP what he thinks. I think it is the best way to tackle this job.
This morning I got up and decided to empty the fridge out and put everything I had in there into different tupperware containers in meals ready to grab. I.E 6 potatoes, 1 brocolli, 1 mix ready cooked for cottage pie, ready to grab. In another I have chickpeas ready cooked, spinach ready, 1 onion ready for curry. I have found over the last few weeks I have been throwing out too much foodbecause I am buying without using it all. And then buying again. I had 4 bags of carrots in there and 8 lemons (4 mouldy). So everything is ready to grab now. The conservatory where the fridge is is dark and cold and I hate being out there in the evening grabbing food so do not spend much time in there thinking, I need to use this and that like I usually would. I will report back if this works better (I hope so!). 2 top shelves are lunch stuff and also the snacks (i.e yoghurts etc) so I think it should work better now.
I have spent £170 again across MrT and MrLid ... £30 approx was middle aisle stuff though 🙈 new knives, chopping board, compost bin, and umbrella amongst other thingsOops I did it again
We did need everything we bought in our defence.
We have prepped all meals for the week and pre-cooked 2 lentil 'mince' bases, 6 portions of soup (carrot and lentil  and still have a tonne of carrot left.)
9 more days of work left and then I am hols for 2 weeks *yay*
DP is upstairs at the mo and is pulling apart the rest of the wardrobe in DD room ready for us doing her room up when she is at her dad's house. I have £200 still put aside for this work. She doesn't want anything fancy as she wants to decorate with posters, but we have to make good on every wall, take wallpaper off (including ceiling - UNLESS I can find the same pattern they have used on the ceiling and patch it up where the wardrobe sat) and most probably plaster at least two walls. I am tempted to take wallpaper off, assess walls and if all shoddy, put lining paper back on for a quicker/cheaper job. We can't paint over the wallpaper on there already as it stops dead where the wardrobe used to start and behind the wardrobe is another load of wallpaper and missing chunks of wallpaper in parts of the walls so totally uneven. Once it is all done I will take DD to the carpet shop and let her choose from the very cheap range of carpets for the floor - I refuse to buy expensive carpet for children anymore. I have learned my lesson with nail polish, make up and food and drinks being spilt on them. She has very slidey laminate down at the mo, but again it doesn't go all the way across because of the large wardrobe being removed ...the floor is downright dangerous and I have slipped twice in there already so it is high on my list to do in her room and DSs room. Thankfully the laminate downstairs has grain in so not as slippery.
DD has a Christmas movie on, the rain is pounding at the windows and the tree lights are on, I am grateful I am indoors in the warmth.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. I was going to suggest do windows in one room at a time as it contains the mess and means less work at the time. I would try and get the one done in DD’s room as soon as you can though, as damp doesn’t sound too healthy to be sleeping near. It will also be making the room colder. Can’t help noticing that the money for the younger offspring came from DS1 not ex … <none of my business, shouldn’t comment, but can’t help it, mutter, mutter ….>Love the idea of making up boxes of ‘meal mixes’ - be interesting to see if that helps you get motivated / waste less 😊
Countdown is on! 😊
