Mouthwash sounds excellent. I'm going to try it when my bottle runs out as I'm not that happy with the price and I have everything I need to make my own.  Thank you
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • Well after a long day I've definitely got my steps in with nearly five miles racked up on my step counter. I was with yet another group today so trying once again to remember people's names.

I walked in to and home from work and I've been locked out. 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄 I told DD to lock the door this morning when she left and put the key into the key safe but she remembered half the instructions only ...so at least the door was locked all day I guess - looking at the positives here.

DP is on a train somewhere so isn't home either when he usually is.

Nevermind I've caught up with emails, ynab, my banking and messages to friends and on here 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ so I will find the positive in that. I didn't walk straight in and start cooking. I instead perched in the porch on a cupboard next to a mini Xmas tree watching the traffic go by. It's warmish so I'll take that as a win too as it's bloody freezing out there.

Should have been a nsd but I had to buy DS2 a water bottle as his had gone black with mould on the top 🤢.

Dinner tonight I might do the shepherds pie as I just have to slice some potatoes for the top, parboil and put in the oven.  I've been cold all day and am craving some comfort food!

  • Oh I'm in! DD was only twenty minutes behind me. I feel all grown up I have just received my pension plan from Royal London.... I'm not sure it will be worth very much though sadly starting at this age 😆 but I've always refused at other employers so at least this time I've agreed to start one eh. That's a start in itself!

  • Glad you got let in fairly quickly, but wanted to say my RL was our best performing plan last year.
  • That's good to know Redo...I pay 4% of my wages and employer matches it, suppose it's better than nothing.

My day off- Woop. Much needed. I feel like I am coming down with another cold today. I felt a bit sniffly yesterday and tired but today I feel bunged up. I also fell down 4 stairs this morning, slip, slip, tripped trying to balance myself and smashed through a fire door face first  Hmmm not a great start to the day huh! Thankfully not at work so can rest my poor body

I have been looking at holidays online, haven't booked anything but really want to. Is it just the cold and grey days making me feel like this? I closed the page down before booking but they all look too tempting

DP is away for work today, kids at school so I will make the most of a quiet house to myself.

  • Sore back from jarring it falling down them steps this morning has had me sat on the sofa for at least 4 hours today. I made myself get up and stretch it out, hot shower and walk to the shops to drop off one parcel and walk a mile in the opposite direction to collect one parcel. Around a 3 mile walk in, just before it got too dark - I don't know the estate well that I was walking in and it was like a rabbit warren so did not want to be getting lost in there with 7% battery left on my phone.

Talking of the phone it is so nice to have one that works properly. I can charge it with no issues and also the battery lasts longer than a day. I am tempted to give my old phone to DS2 because now I have a proper charger it is working properly to charge - it just doesn't hold the charge properly. However, it is better than what he has because once again he has smashed the screen on his one. Seems a shame to throw mine out (the back is cracked so they didn't want it on trade in, I was offered a pittance so chose to keep it).

Going to make a cauliflower biryani this evening, with my own recipe- a mix between savoury rice and a curry. I'll bung something together, am sure it will taste okay

Feeling very deflated this week, I was hoping my day off would perk me up but I just feel like I need a good cry. I think with christmas coming up and seeing everyone at work getting so excited about it has me feeling a bit flat, the kids are with ex. The dog is no longer here. My parents are estranged from me, as is one sister & brother....and the other I asked for a simple favour last week and was turned down. I was a little peeved as I usually drop everything to help her.
I don't think I said but DP and I tried to book a chimney sweep as one fire is in desperate need of cleaning. The first one we rang was really quite rude and basically laughed at us telling us we were pretty stupid not having booked it before Autumn. We said we hadn't moved in until end of Aug and only used it for the first time the other week (the one that needs cleaning- the other was okay- we stupidly assumed this one was too). Anyway we hung up after he said to ring back next year (very helpful) and as we were about to ring another he rang back- Oh! I have a cancellation! YOU HAD BETTER TAKE IT or you won't get another until next Spring.
SO we panicked (duh I can't believe we fell for this).
...and we paid £70 and then we realised after we hung up the date he gave was a Thursday, we mistakenly thought it was Wednesday on the phone. DP was away, I was at work, DD was in full lessons all day. So we ring back and say we can't do it, he says, well that is okay leave your key I will let myself in, not being funny but I do million pound houses and they trust me so you can as well....making out our excuse of a house wasn't even worth robbing. Anyway we stupidly, once again agreed to him. I slept on it and was like nah-uh what the heck were we thinking! I asked my sister in a panic - please come and sit in the house for an hour whilst he is here...it's a fifteen minute walk from hers to ours but I offered to pay for a taxi/bus. She refused. I was pretty gobsmacked she had nothing on and was just like, no I don't want to.
We don't know this man from adam, and not being funny but he was rude as hell!! So we once again rang him, he didn't answer. DP messaged him and he put a thumbs up to our message of, we need to cancel we don't feel comfortable doing that, let us know if you have another cancellation.
    That was it.
    No money back.
    No message.
    Nothing.
Long story short, we need to chase this money up, I want a refund and am willing to wait for another chimney sweep to be free. DP thinks he was just blunt and sounded like he was on the spectrum. I work with kids like this all day every day and think he was just rude, so jury is out....either way I didn't like his energy and attitude. That money was from our DIY fund too so I would like that back to pay for DD room.

Right I shall stop moaning. No one likes a moaner, but we can't all be strong all the time eh.

DP is on his way home. He is loving his new job so at least someone is feeling happy and contented at the moment in my house, perhaps he can cheer me up 🙈..

MSE stuff- I put back £25 worth of goods when out and about and had a NSD instead.

  • So he asked you to pay upfront and then leave your keys out? Wow. I hope you can get your money back. He sounds like a peach!

Yes, I feel pretty stupid about it all now but he really played on the scarcity thing and we panicked. It's been a week now and we've not heard anything back so really we need to chase this money. His business is legit we have had a look in to it but still not happy to use him any more.

  • We've got the refund.
Has some bad news about my sister's health (sis that doesn't speak to me)this evening. I wonder now if I was picking up on her earlier and that's why I've felt down all day. I always seem to know when something is up with her.
