Morning all, I have spent my morning trying to write a personal statement for a job I am applying for. They didn't want a CV so I am trying to write what I think is relevant enough to get me through the door for an interview at the very least.
I have a 11-3 shift today. I am really tired. Didn't sleep well. I was going to stay later but I think I won't bother. I took FLD out with DP last night and a dog tried to attack FLD. I couldn't get FLD off the floor quick enough as he backed away from me as I tried to lift him (admittedly in the panic it was by his lead so I probably choked him) and as the dog ran for him.I flew into a rage as only my C-PTSD allows me to do in such a circumstance. Thank the lord DP was there. The guy who owned the dog we think was drunk and really didn't care and was threatening to hit me.........that just sent me over the edge and little old me was like c'mon then. Oh jeez. I was sent home by DP. I had a total adrenaline crash when I got home and didn't sleep well. Was in fits of hysterics and tears for a good hour, I always feel so angry with myself for reacting the way I do. Poor dog was traumatised from the dog biting his leg (THANK GOD I haven't had his hair cut recently the dog only got fluff!!) and from me screeching as the dog started biting at my arm and leg to get to FLD. DP had to actually wrestle it to the ground. Surreal.
Anyway.
I wasn't in the right place to be writing it last night. So I have done the PS this morning and hope it is okay. I will send it this evening as I need to get a few other bits to send with it and don't have them to hand right now and need to go to work soon. But fingers crossed....this job is much better hours and I think similar pay.
Best go get ready for another shift.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. OMG I hope you and FLD recover and this never happens again, good luck on the job front. HotdogX1

That's awful about the dog, hope you and FLD are ok.
Have you reported to the dog warden/police? The next dog or owner may not be so lucky1 -
Thanks all. FLD seems okay today. It's so upsetting as he's so placid. He doesn't even really bark (think I've heard his big bark three or four times in twelve years!) this is the third dog that's attacked him now.
I always get more shook up than him I think. He's like one of my children.
Work was a nightmare. I shall leave it at that. I've left for the weekend not knowing when my next shift is?! Debating a) not going back, b) turning up whenever I feel like it on Monday 🤣.
I've submitted the application for the other job it was a long old process 😑 took me three hours (including writing a personal statement)so I hope I at least make it through to interview.
The lady who sold us the car phoned and asked how we're enjoying it. 🤣
DP and I laughed - 1- we've no money for petrol. 2- we've been too busy at work to use it. 3- we are still using the company car as that has cheaper miles and petrol already in it.

Morning all, sat outside in the nice warm sunshine. My legs were aching badly last night in bed they kept me up most of the night until I reached for the ibuprofen around 3am in desperation.
DP wants to clear the garden so I'm sat watching at the moment - I will help when he's done the grass as I'll be in his way if I try to help now 😆.
Need to pop to the shops and grab a few bits.
We've found some money I stashed in the bills account. We've worked out we have around £40-50 left of bills due out. £255 is in there still. I think it was me putting it aside in case of council tax bills being due (actually they owed me) and also water etc. But all confirmed I didn't need to pay until October 1st. So we will take that out and add to the little amount I have left in my account and try to make it last until 1st October. DP gets paid next week but we are trying to get to that 1-31 pay run cycle still rather than our current 25th-24th. As his new pay will be end of the month in New job.
I plan to make more scones today. Some protein balls maybe and also a bulk dinner of some sort for mid week easy reach dinners from freezer that aren't frozen rubbish.
I've already hoovered the house through, emptied bins and put washing on. Next job - helping with some tip runs!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Tip runs seem to be a recurring theme on here today!
Highly recommend hot bath with epsom salts for the aches if you have any.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I used the last of the Epsom salt soothing my aches and pains last week. Totally forgot to get some today (oops it meant to go on the list too!)MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. We got some of the garden cleared back and made a big pile for the tip. I have a big pile of scrap too I think I'll offer it up on SM to whoever wants it.
Cleared back four dead trees and bushes...the poor things had been smothered with ivy, mistletoe and bindweed and had grown so leggy they were all entwined with one another. I've a few cuts and scrapes now but I'm glad it is done as we had a really nice sunny day here. Lots of space for new plants to go in. Although all I can think to put in there is ferns as it is quite a shady spot because of the large trees over it.
I found a lovely path with nice round slabs on! Just thought it was a mud path but managed to sweep it enough to find some old slabs in good condition. Found lots of big stones which I will use to rebuild small walls around the beds too.
We also used some of the wood we inherited to make a compost heap. And promptly filled it. I'm not sure DP was putting all correct things in there as I'm sure I saw pots of weeds being upended into it. However the garden got cleared and as he pointed out we can always just fill the green bin every time it is emptied from there until we get down to the good stuff (there was lots of dead leaves in the bottom that I started it with and grass cuttings). We also managed to clear a lot of the summer house out which we will eventually turn into a potting shed. I did want it taken down but now it's cleared it's actually sturdy and hiding a bad fence behind it. And there is a very big dog behind that fence that was doing its best to get into our garden. Was being very loud barking and it made me jump a few times especially after the other day.
So that shed/ summer house can stay.
We went shopping with the money we found. Hopefully got enough food to last most of the week. And got a few small Diy bits (less than £20) to fix a couple of urgent things.
Here's the updated picture of the garden. I think I posted one before. This is all the grape vine pulled out (aside from the left hand side of the building as there is a lot of wood still to be removed before I can get there). Compost heap is on the left. The water butt is all set up ready to collect again too! And we have a clear patio now!
The bottom picture is the pathway I found! Had to hack back so much stuff to find it. I will rebuild the wall that got knocked down the same as it is on the left.
Lots of work still to do but I can see structure now!
