Thankyou folks 👍 I’ll look at the soa weenancy 👍
I’ve given up trying to get back to sleep and come down for a cuppa.
i made use of my bus pass again yesterday and visited my brother. He lives in a supported living complex and there is always somebody organising something….quite often my sil. So yesterday it was a McMillan coffee afternoon. I had thought of making a cake to take with me but decided to jump off the tram and nip into M&S en route. I had a little mooch around the big city then jumped back on the tram. It’s quite a walk from the tram stop to his house and of late I’ve been walking (brother used to pick me up but is no longer fit enough to so) anyway I jumped on the bus - it’s only 4 stops but it made life much easier. It was a lovely afternoon and the sun shone down on us. They made just short of £200 which I’m sure will reach the £200 mark with some monies promised by folk who couldn’t make it but made a pledge. So too much cake was consumed and I ended up bringing 1 of the M&S cake home. Twas all rather delicious…..but when did shop bought cake become so expensive 😳🤷🏻♀️😳 My brother has had some health problems recently which don’t seem to be improving at all…..the joys of growing older.I was slightly earlier leaving than usual and usually head straight to a knit and natter group so on the spur of the moment a changed trams and had an hour at an out of town outlook shopping complex. I had a drink by the big canal in the sunshine and bought a pair of boots. I’m hoping they’ll support my ankle over the winter months as they’re replica doc m style….not my usual go to….but they should be fine if there is any frostiness about. A bargain at £55 reduced from £95. I got to the knit and natter to find everywhere locked and in darkness. Anyway the shop owner had had an emergency and had to cancel last minute. I hadn’t seen the message on my phone with all my tram travelling.
Ive been moon watching whilst I’ve been up…a super moon which is beautiful in the clear sky but no sign of any eclipse. Not sure what time it was supposed to be happening but I missed it. I’ve seen more stars than I have in a very long time.
i don’t think I’m going to bother with SW in the morning…..although I haven’t looked at the SOA yet I’ve had a look at my finances and I’m not convinced I can justify the money I spend….especially when I spend the afternoon eating cake 🤪and I’m not actually loosing much weight. I’ll reassess in the morning but it was a bit of an eye opener seeing the figures of some things written down. It would be worth it if I was loosing but I’ve lost 1/2 stone since January…..not very cost effective 😱January spends - £587.584 -
Half a stone is still good especially if you also factor in the weight you didn’t gain due to the threat of swMortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Could you keep a record of your weight at home?
We weigh every Wednesday evening after work. Seems to be working for us. We have both lost 2 stone since just after Christmas.0 -
Think that’s what I’m going to do RS…keep a food diary and weigh every Wednesday.
I finally finished sorting the gks bedroom today. I’ve got rid of quite a bit of stuff. There are a load of shelves from the Swedish company which can be put back in a combination of ways. I used to keep my sewing machine in a little space and Dh decided to store dismantled shelves in said space…..just in case… I’m tempted to get rid and put my machine back in the space as I’ve hardly used it since I brought it downstairs and I expected I’d use it more but I haven’t. You watch though as soon as I get rid we will need them. Only the back room to do now which is dh domain. I’m tempted to empty it all into the front room so he can sort it properly. Don’t think he’s ever heard of the concept 1 in and 1 out🫣Left to his own devices I think he’d be on one of those tv programmes where you come across a little old man surrounded in ‘stuff’ 😂😂😂 Good job I’m on the case 👍 And the sheds 😳😳😳😳the stuff that’s accumulated in them 😳😳😳😳
It’s been a beautiful day here and I know I should probably be doing something outside but I just can’t motivate myself. A bit of catch up tv before Dh come home 😁January spends - £587.582 -
Any news on DH’s impending retirement? Is that maybe why he was a little grumpy re money.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Beanie….he is just shattered and won’t accept he needs to slow down a tad. So no news of his retirement yet.Yesterday was the day we looked at money together….thanks for the SOA links, I was quite impressed I’d already included most things on the list . Money conflabs are not something we often do. I’ve always known what I pay for as does Dh. It’s the way we’ve always worked and seemed the natural order of things when the kids were young, each of us knowing we can support one another if needs be. As I expected there is absolutely no reason for him to panic. We will never be on The Times rich list 😂😂 but there is enough to cover our basic needs and have a little bit left for some fun along the way. And there is some wriggle room should we need to cut back. However he is still concerned that he has to provide for us 🤷🏻♀️🫣 I’m not surprised as I remember his mum panicking about having to have a new roof and the lady in the building society telling her quite frankly that she could roof the whole street 😂😂. I suppose it’s what you get used to. I remember growing up in a household that had to watch every single penny and I only remember ever going to stay with family for holidays except 2 nights in a B&B just before my mum passed away when I was 18. There was never any surplus…..it was just the way it was and I never felt I missed out. What you never had you never missed. On the other hand Dh always had a 2 week holiday….often abroad. I feel I’ve done all I can to ease his mind and it’s down to him to decide when to finish. I’d certainly never pressurise him into finishing. It’s got to be his choice. Not much planned for today or weekend. I’ve been crocheting cacti to take to the gks when I go at the beginning of October. I went to the singing group this morning- always lifts the spirits as it is good fun.
Cc has been paid in full. It was quite enlightening looking back at my personal finances yesterday. I hadn’t realised quite how much my coffee shop spends have risen🤔January spends - £587.584
