I'm also changing my diet this month and next. Cutting out sugar in most forms (in things, added, cooked with), and cutting right down on starchy carbs (bread, pasta, rice, potatoes). The odd stray cracker is still being nibbled but timing when I have my homemade soup (without the crisps or bread that were a bit too much of a habit) and simple meat or fish and veg, followed by something like GS yogurt and bottled fruit from the garden. I always know when. I get a facial breakout of eczema and my mouth becomes sore and ulcerated.
It is entirely due to the excesses of Christmas (alcohol, blue and rinded cheeses, alcohol) and I need to go simple for a few weeks so I can reintroduce these in moderation. I should lose weight too, welcome but secondary. Chilli tonight, without any rice, garlic bread or jacket potato. We had some of the same ragu batch in peppers, topped with cheese and baked for 20 minutes last night too. Two more days and the cravings should stop. I really must stop mentioning the naughty things. It makes me think of them! A bit like see one, want some.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

i think 99.9 % of the population has to take a step back from eating everything sugary in sight in Jan
I always introduce extra greens first as a way to help - kale etc cleans up the liver and is great also for helping stop the sugar cravings
The more veg the better ..DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I'm still eating up the sugar stuff that found its way into the house! However I am also leaving a bowl of something for the VNM if he is here alone and that will get through it by the middle to end of the month.
Next month I will start in earnest. I've been browsing websites for inspiration. Last night I made a traybake using left over veggies from the weekend roast, some frozen garlic, frozen peas, bit of stock and some sausages from the freezer. It was delicious and far more veg than I would usually eat. It fed both of us and there is enough left for my lunch. Frugal too in that the carrots and parsnips would usually make it to the horses if they start to go soft. I'm loving traybakes as I can shove them in the oven while working and serve a meal at the end with no fuss. I also need to get my slow cooker going. The desire for real bread has not passed so I am adding a bread maker to my list of possible purchases this year. I'm having a limited spend year (if I do no spend I'll give up) so I am simply making a list of things I would like to buy and will research how that could happen in a cost effective way.
My allowed spends are obviously bills and the stuff for the horses (like physio) food for us all and some lovely time out with friends, although I'm sticking with cheaper events. I'm also allowing coffees out as I really think they are an affordable luxury that I don't do often and deliver so much pleasure for the few pounds they cost. (Also cheaper than going out for a drink). Renovating house and garden come under allowed spends. Pretty much everything else will be carefully considered and probably not make the cut unless found cheaply second-hand.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Rather than a bread maker, do you have a (stand) mixer with a dough hook at all? Eg Kenwood, Kitchenaid type thing? Dough takes maybe max 10 mins from start to finish in one and then you can just leave it prove, knock back once when it has risen and then pop it in a tin with a shower cap on until its risen again - 30 mins in oven and bosh! - a lovely (normal shaped/ sized) loaf of bread. And a mixer is far more versatile than a breadmaker. (Dough is reasonably forgiving with how long you leave it before knocking back or putting in the oven, so you can get in with work/ shopping/ riding whilst waiting)I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £207

I agree you just cannot do total no spend. Coffee out is a pleasure but not if it becomes a habit. You can always save up the stamps and as you said it is really only a treat if it not all the time. I like allowable expenditure too.Save £12k in 25 No 49
