No projects got started. I decided to take Charming Cob out for a 50 min ride. It was such a lovely day I decided to try a byway that I came off on last time I used it. It was a lot steeper than I remembered and CC kept turning round to go home so we had quite a battle. Finally worrying that I had only said I would be an hour i decided we would turn around after all and CC felt he had "won a huge victory" and was very badly behaved shall we say. We therefore had a number of arguments and I refused to let him take the short cut home which meant we were out for over 2 hours and had, shall we just say a number of spins on the road.

Charming Cob is substantial and very determined but luckily kept all four feet on the ground so we battled it out. Got home exhausted to VNM who had been worrying about where we were and could not understand how I could not just stop and message him. I have often suggested we get an app so he can see where I am but he feels that is "stalking"

So with mucking out, an argumentative ride and then helping VNM clear a blocked drain my Sunday vanished. No money spent though!

That doesn't sound like Mr Charming …? Is he okay? Or was that ride really that steep.

VNM really is a lovely guy 😊 And actually I think your idea of the App is a good one and he only needs to turn it on / use it when you are out riding alone after all 😊 It would make me feel more secure if Mr KK knew where I was when I go out walking in the woods here.

Charming Cob is always polite but just occasionally decides he cannot be bothered and would rather go home. It is like arguing with a runaway sofa with the turning circle of a super-tanker. He is unlike any horse I've ridden before - it is a clear "NO" or "HAD ENOUGH NOW" but with zero malice, no intention for me to fall off and when I have in the past he is mortified and behaves like an angel afterwards.

I decided after 4 miles his feet were a little sore. He does not have shoes on as his feet are really hard but he saw the farrier a few days ago and had a trim and he did choose to walk on grass verges which I always offer and he always declines but yesterday he did walk on the verges where they existed.

He clearly was not speaking to me when we got home 😀so i have promised him a few days off 😀

My watch has a live track thing on that emails my cycling buddy when I set off on a bike ride alone, they can then live track me for the duration of that ride only, and only if they refresh a link, so it is a little less invasive. Two minor problems so far after six months of use - no signal meant it looked like no movement for half an hour, and also if you need to turn the bike upside down for any reason it thinks you have had an accident and sends an alert to your tracker.

I am now envisaging Watty in a Thelwell-style cartoon with the horse rolling while she's on the phone trying to explain that the tracker misinterpreted the action and she's just taking a breather herself, while the horse has some R&R.

I used to use the tracker on my watch for running when I was travelling. It's useful. You may also be able to do something temporary using your phone (or find an app that does the job).

Wh0tsapp has a tracking feature that you can use just for one person or a group of people - useful for not having to check in with my OH when I'm out with colleagues or friends and loose track of time. He can see that Ive been sat in a coffee shop or pub for longer than I should! Also useful for the church walking group when folks walk at different speeds.

This is really useful - you (the person wanting to be tracked) makes your location available for a selected period of time - from memory 15 mins, 1 hour, 8 hours? So it’s not a permanent thing and you have control (should VNM not want you to thinkyou’re being stalked even though you wouldn’t!). We use it quite often - if we’re trying to meet somewhere (or BIL will share his location so we can see if he’s home ready for the pub on a Friday! 😂)
