Definitely knock the door and ask if their quote was cheap and if they are happy with the work and has it kept to the quote

Thats a good idea Daisy. I will also see how this unfolds. I had someone out to quote on regrouting/repointing one of the brick patios. So got more than one quote - gave job to someone who asked if I was ok with the job being done on "a Saturday". Yes I said - and that was the last I heard of him. 3.5 months later, 2 days ago I get a text saying he can do the job today! I replied saying I had found someone else as his communication had been so poor but if the chap does not work out I'll come back to him.
I've actually given the job to the bricklayer - so we will see. If it doesn't work I will find someone else. I've saved the money up for the job so all good.
Should be off to a university reunion today but really can't face it. A few folk I'd like to see will not be there so I think I would feel rather isolated so staying home.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I skipped my uni reunion too. And share your pain on the trades. Communication here is appalling with constantly changing dates. Utterly fed up and just want it done.

I don't feel I'd really go back in time with a Uni reunion - we keep in touch with some people but the vibe can't be the same! Perhaps touch base with the people you've kept in touch with, if you want a way of marking the event, but it doesn't have to be now.
I think somewhere there might be a workman who gives timely and useful communication. If anyone finds them, please let the rest of us know.

I skipped my school reunion the other month, I didn't even consider going. I went to the 15, and 25 year one (omg I feel old) and I skipped one they had planned this year which was a random 31 year one because everyone cancelled one by one last year for the 30 years 🤣. Uni- I've never been invited to one, I'm now wondering if they just didn't like me enough 🤪.

I have never been to either school or university reunions … I endured / disliked my time enough in both that I would have no great interest in going back …

I've never been either - I loved my time in school - mostly because of the friends - but I'd never want to return to relive those memories on purpose!
4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)Original End Date - Sept 2041 *** New projection - Aug 2038 (reduced by 3 years & 1 month)5 -
Interesting. I would have gone if some of my pals had been but they were not, a small group of us have a whatsapp group and keep in random touch that way. Instead I have been to two garden centres and drank tea in each one. Bought a few plants too.

I much prefer garden centres and tea to most people I went to school and uni with. Good choice 😆.
My best friend is a school friend which is why I always ended going before even though I'd said no...she wanted me to go with her. But this time we both bailed. I'm in touch with a few still but we don't need a reunion we see each other regularly anyway 😁.
