Am not sure about growing tomatoes - Wattydog adores them and they give him an upset stomach. He picks his own apples from the little orchard and I am reasonably sure he will work out a plan to get tomatoes!
There are some nice ideas here. Also, a bit of research suggests squash would do well by the muck heap although will need to look at timings as don't want that to go when the muck heap is removed!
Will mull over. Peas and strawberries current favourites.

Lovely day yesterday. I had bought us tickets for the local panto for the evening which is such a cheap silly night out. I have absolutely no idea what it was about, there were a lot of nursery rhyme people and it was a daft take on Jack and the Beanstalk. So very silly. My anxiety was really high so I coped with a glass of wine on arrival and one in the interval. Not the best coping technique but as VNM pointed out we had gone out for the evening and I had done well.
Also took WattyDog out for breakfast, which has always been one of my favourite meals to go out for as I just would not cook that for myself. All 3 of us had a lovely time, then a pal of mine came in so I had a natter with her whilst VNM took WattyDog for a short walk. The cafe was just closing (it is a community cafe and closes at 1 pm) so I had the last coffee for free as she needed to make one to clear the machine and she gifted us all a slice of cake that needed using up. So we have cake for today!
Bought a copy of the FT one the way home then spent the afternoon reading the paper. I have not read a real newspaper for years and it was a really fun thing to do. Also at long last there was a dry spell so I cut back the lavender and did a little weeding hindered - no - helped - by WattyDog. He really was a joy yesterday, he loves going to pubs and cafes and even at his most full on he was always beautifully behaved in them. He was much admired by people for his good looks and excellent manners in the cafe and then whilst I weeded he repeatedly gave me his ball. Very little weeding actually done but much joy was had just seeing him potter about. He made me smile so much, this seems precious time with him after the drama of the last 8 months.

that indeed reads like a lovely, fun memory making day with much to smile about when looking back on it 😊

Back to torrential rain today. Was going to ride but cold and wet after mucking out. Instead made green lentil soup for lunch using more of the green lentils from cupboard, farmers market leek from last week and some carrots - enough for lunch next week too. Then decided, as part of my drive to eat less sugar, to have a go at a healthy millionaire shortbread. All was going well until I realised the VNM had eaten the dark chocolate from the fridge so now I have a base of oats and almonds and coconut oil with a layer of peanut butter. VNM sent to local shop to replace the chocolate - which I suspect is defeating the healthy take but I will see how it turns out.
Surprisingly my food spend for January despite using meal boxes some days was very low because of using up stuff in the cupboard on the other days. February also staying low. Sausages from freezer for dinner.
