You and VNM are truly Renaissance Couple! Well done on all the replacements and fixings, we live with these things then when they are put right, life runs more smoothly.

There's nothing stopping her setting up another company as, for example, Watty's Fantastic Business (2026) Ltd, or Her Name Ltd t/a Watty's Fantastic Business.

Great - thank you :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Money moving day. I decided against opening up a savings account with a better rate of interest and have just opened a number of chase ones and labelled them appropriately - so I have a car one - a tax one and so on and then I use another bank for house bills and that has a house savings account.
I probably could get better interest elsewhere but these will do for now. Then added some to the ISA pot which was super exciting for me as I have a Cash ISA. This for me is a sign I really am back on my financial feet now as it has been filled up for this tax year. It is instant access so I can get the cash if I need it but I have actually managed to use my ISA allowance which is why I am excited!
The next course has sold so that is £2k that will go to the pension pot. I would have done that today but the website has changed and I couldn't work out how to do it - so rang for advice and was told they would send me a link which has yet to arrive. Will chase that up tomorrow.

I have been thinking on and off about what my life would be like if I worked less and I remembered that in the days before PPH I used to have an allotment. Now I just don't have time here at the moment, other than the disastrous efforts to grow onions last year (when the wall came down) but it is on my radar.
Back in my veg growing days I had a second hand copy of "food from your garden" and I loved that book. Long since lost but, inspired by Cherryfudge I found a copy for £2.50 on vinted and as I still have money in vinted a purchase was made and it arrived today.
This has reminded me of happier times in the past and has the promise of much to look forward too.

Perhaps a small planter or raised bed in the meantime? You can get nice ones on legs with lids and have a mini kitchen garden

I am in awe of a filled ISA!

Well I did put every scrap of savings in there @Cherryfudge The other accounts are more inspiration and goals than having a healthy balance - even the tax one! They just have small amounts to kick start them.
I'm working on the positive approach here, I am going to be financially secure (by a lot of standards I already am that I know) and get myself to a point I can give up work and so seeing one account with such a great balance reminds me I can do this.
@WelshmansDaughter That is a nice idea, maybe a herb patch would be nice even if only in a pot. At the moment I am letting ideas percolate - if I park the horsebox elsewhere maybe that bit of land could be used, or maybe if I clear the orchard there will be a bit of space for some gooseberry bushes (I can't remember who mentioned gooseberries but that sparked the memory and the purchase of the book).

Fruit bushes might be a good place to start. And maybe some salad in planters. Once that WattyDog can’t get to…

Am I right in thinking that last year you did tomatoes in hanging baskets so that WattyDog couldn't eat them? I'm not sure if there are other edibles that could be grown the same way.
