Darling @Watty1 you are quite right.   You're doing brilliantly.   Is therapy an idea? It can really help unpick patterns and probably wouldn't need many sessions as you're already aware and want to change.  Love Humdinger xx

In other news fireworks Sunday are now done.  I'm swapped one the very expensive tubes of sedative for a food supplement that is a "calmer" from a neighbour as when I read the sedative details I realised that all three horses would be 'out for the count' for a few hours and not able to eat for some more and eating their hay serves as a good distraction if anything goes off in the distance.      I think the stuff helped and we will feed it until next weekend is over and done with as I know neighbours down the road will let the dratted things off over this week and next weekend.

The laurel hedges fireworks were neither quiet or without rockets.  Some awful crackling things made Most Handsome spin in distress and the rockets where dreadful.    VNM was incandescent and wanted to go round and say that their definition of what was quiet and reasonable really did not align with his.    I asked him not to as I felt little would be achieved other than him feeling better for an hour or so.

Later that evening VNM asked me if Lamb Paddock had sold (it has though I cannot find the price it achieved at auction) because he had come to the conclusion he did not want to live near anyone who might let off fireworks!  When I mentioned the small matter of the lack of a roof, he said we could just live in a caravan while we figured out what to do - so long as it was a nice caravan!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Sounds horrendous Watty. Not another attempt to make you move to Northern Ireland but we don't really have fireworks here outside of official demonstrations. It just doesn't seem to be a thing like it was in Yorkshire.

I do hope you show these to the Laurel Hedges, and if you're there next year remind them what happened this year. Don't tell them you didn't use the sedatives or they'll use that as an excuse...

I hope that any other fireworks further away have much less of an effect on your animal family. Our cats have always just ignored fireworks. We used to have a lot going off fairly locally at a hotel where there are weddings. The hotel started alerting people in advance when they would be letting them off. People posted on local online groups complaining about the noise and effects, and surprisingly the hotel posted recently that they would honour their existing bookings with loud fireworks, but that going forward only quieter fireworks would be allowed.  We didn't hear anything this weekend from anyone and haven't noticed anything from the hotel for a while.

It’s so annoying ! My DS is 23 and I used to organise the playgroup bonfire so he was 2 ish and I always bought the silent fireworks, you still got the whoosh and the lights but no noise so they’ve been available for years and was no price difference.
