Stinky is having to have a quiet day today too - much to his disgust. Hopefully WattyDog will feel better after some rest and can then start the steroids. However you feel about your relationship with him, he's had a wonderful time with you since PPH left him with you and he's learned that you are his person and the one he can rely on.

Steroids start today - we are just waiting the required hour from the first drug to start them.

Yesterday was both sad and lovely.  It is the first time I have been to the show without WattyDog and he has always loved it, so sad not to have him with me.   FellPony was uniquely himself, could not see the point of the whole thing, declined to do much in the ring, but was incredibly brave and unflappable at such a big event.

Went with friends who then invited VNM and I for a curry that evening which was a very nice evening but I was quite irritable for, what I think were good reasons (although the VNM gave me a sharp kick on the ankle and reminded me not to fall out with them so I won't drag up what irritated me here)   

I gifted my members tickets to the show to someone else today so she and her partner can enjoy it. They were delighted, they are a young couple, saving for their wedding and just bought new house.  I knew they wanted to go but would not pay so it was a joy to gift them as VNM and I will not go without WattyDog. Right must push off and start day.

I hope the steroids soon kick in and give WattyDog the relief he deserves. I think we all feel for you and we've never even met him, though it feels as though we have.

What a nice thought to give the member tickets away. I hope the young couple enjoy their day, and meanwhile you can be at home without feeling the obligation to attend.

And about the curry-couple causing irritation - perhaps that shows how in-sympathy with you the VNM is! DH knows I can be impulsive and I can almost feel the vibes coming off him when I want to rattle off a reply to something that he feels should be left alone. It doesn't mean to say your reaction was unjustified, but they probably have no idea what reaction they triggered. But these things are almost invariably better left unsaid, or at least unsaid in the heat of the moment. (Again, DH would be nodding sagely if he read this...)

All I will say is if I invite someone for a curry when the curry house is less that 3 mins walk from the house and it does not arrive, I would go and pick it up. In fact why ask for a delivery when it is so close?   I politely sat there starving thinking about when I could politely just leave when the one that lives in the house (the other was staying) absolved all responsibility for the meal. The other, who was staying, had invited us for a gossip and catch up and was buying.  Eventually she lost patience with the curry house and cancelled the order.

Then both said they had had too much to drink to drive and there was no food.  The VNM and I went out to purchase an instant buffet from the local garage (salads, cold meats, raspberries) and were inundated with messages on the way there about diet preferences.  I was tired and hungry and less that patient, especially as I had bought them both tickets to the show (which were costly, I was gifting one as a thank you for two beautiful prints that she gave me, but the other I had made clear was not a gift but I knew I would not see the cash)

Exasperated.  Still they are friends.   They mean well.  And it was pointed out by another friend of us all that the one who is the house owner is slightly resentful of the fact that the rest of us have money and she does not (she has not made an MSE connections and that is the reason she does not).  Harsh but true. Having left PPH with a house but nothing I have worked hard to be at the point where I do feel I have money and feel very proud of self).

Having said I feel calm about money, Charming Cob had tummy ache and needed emergency vet last night.

This morning he is bright and clearly feels better.  The vet was lovely and lives just over the fields. I've seen her dog walking.   I can afford an emergency vet.  What a joy that is.  My heart goes out to those who look at much loved animals and wonder if they should save the money because it is tight.  I am indeed very blessed.

Friends!!  We've decided we aren't gathering any more friends !  They're just hard work 😆 🤣 😂

I'm glad CC wasn't too poorly. So scary when something like that happens.

I wonder how much of your friends' behaviour was exacerbated by the drinks? I mean, it might bring out a tendency that was already there, but also blunt their appetites and sensibilities. It wasn't nice to leave you to pick up the tab though.

Two days of steroids and WattyDog escaped house arrest and charged up the garden steps to greet a visitor.  He isn’t supposed to be using stairs 🙄.   Still they are clearly bringing him some relief which means we have more time together.    Persuading him to rest may be more challenging than I thought
