Yesterday I didn't make it our of my dressing gown until mid afternoon, but, I have finished the revisions on the next two modules for the course and caught up with work and sat in the sun. The joy of my yard being secluded from the road meant I drank my coffee while sitting at the table and chairs I picked up in the village from Marketplace. That was a simple joy.
Then I took CC out for our longest hack since last year when all this lameness etc started. Yes, he flatly refused to trot, but I suspect that is more attitude than lameness now as, once we got off the usual and very boring routes into quiet lanes he was so cheerful. He grazed the hedgerow and I admired the view. We did 5 miles and it was fun just to be out with him. Smiled so much with happiness.
Even better the VNM asked me what the dinner plan was and on hearing my plan was to make a prawn curry when I came back he had found a pepper, carrot and celery in the fridge and prepped them to use up and add veggies and while I put washing away he cooked. Simple joys.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

That sounds like a day with many contentments.
And great that you are up to date with work, how satisfying.

@Cherryfudge thank you
No work on the 'big plan' yesterday but met a friend for a look round an antique fair. My goodness it was busy! I found so many stalls overwhelming, so much "stuff". I bought the VNM a 1946 map for £1.50 and 2 glass stoppers at £2.50 each for two bottles in the bathroom (slightly too small but they will work and look better than the plastic vape bottles there at the moment). The bottles were charity shop finds and look lovely now.
I did not buy the lovely walnut 1930s coffee table as I'm unsure about how my future will pan out now I've made the decision. I don't have the road map for that yet so a 1930s coffee table, beautiful though it was, is not a needed purchase.
I didn't buy anything from the vintage jewellery dealer I always stop to chat with and who has the most beautiful stall and chats about all the lovely things. My friend bought a pearl choker for £15 which I was about to buy thus I have saved £15It is gorgeous but I don't have the level of detail yet to know if that is essential to my retired life and my friend looked wonderful in it so I call that a win all round.

Afternoon I spent a few hours decluttering at the VNM's mothers place. The house has to be emptied and he is going to pay someone to do the clearance but first it needs sorting as to what is wanted and to be kept. Cleared dressing table and put all the jewellery and "pots" in one place for her grand-daughter along with the card for the vintage jewellery dealer. (I have gently suggested all the broken gold be sold or melted and made into something perhaps using stones from some of the bits that she will never wear and that the vintage necklaces be sold to the dealer I have chatted to at the fairs over the years) What grand-daughter does with it all is not my concern but she should pick through it at least before it goes I think or box it up and put in her loft until she can face it.

Gold is fetching good prices for scrap at the moment. I sold some a couple of months ago, my OH's ex-wedding ring and some broken bits and got over £300. Will be even more now with the political chaos.Make £2025 in 2025

Thanks @Slinky I have a wedding ring that belonged to someone that I was thinking of having melted down and made into something but it might be better sold as I already have things I don't wear. I might pop it into the local place. Thank you.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Make sure you know what carat the gold is before checking it in. His ring was 18ct but if he hadn't told me in advance and if the shop owner had tried it on, I would have been none the wiser.Make £2025 in 2025

Thanks for that @Slinky
Course went will this morning and as a result of the chat during the session I have an idea for a promotional talk so have been researching that as could boost numbers for later two courses.
Then took Charming Cob out for a quick stroll around the lanes. All went well and we enjoyed looking over fences, but, I admit the lack of great places to ride here as really got me down. We returned back along a road and every few mins we had to stop and pop up someone's drive to avoid cars. Charming Cob is beautifully behaved and utterly bombproof in traffic but at one point someone's front garden was the only place to go. We actually ended up on their lawn to avoid a lorry. I returned home and interviewed google and R Move. I had so many reasons for staying where I am, but standing on someone's front lawn to avoid a lorry really does tarnish the area (I'm fairly sure they would have been nice about it as no damage was done but this just is not the nip out at lunch time and love riding that I am after). I am back to considering a move after all.

If being able to have a safe local ride is important in the long term to you then moving makes sense, ideally without having to take on another mortgage as it will slow down the pension fund.
Glad you enjoying the spring by ridingDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
