My out of hours vet is similarly extortionate - nearly the same for a couple of medical vests for the cats on a Sunday when one started biting it's spay wound. My usual vet supplies them for free - but we hadn't needed them before! Equally patronising when I said I hadn't managed to get a third dose of metacam into one of them - she suggested I try putting it in her food (which I had done). Doesn't she know that cats think you are poisoning them if you even breathe wrongly near their food?8

Sorry to hear about wattydog, you know i have an affinity with gsds and probably would say all the same things the vet did. Dont be too harsh on her tho, lots of owners have absolutely no understanding of their dog, its normal gait, its likelihood of being prone to certain ailments and how best to progress. I know for me it was probably sometimes hard not to default to saying a kind of script that i said so often without maybe taking the feedback the owner was giving into account. Maybe vet was doing the same. Give me a shout if there's any help I can give but hopefully rest and painkillers will do the trick and he'll be back to normal in a few days/week
Give him a gentle hug and a 'good boy' from me please

Ooh lots of love to wattydog! For sheer brazen effrontery, that vet takes some beating. Combined with the bill, sounds like she was channelling her raging bull? Love Humdinger xx4

Out of hours vet visits are expensive experiences. We had to take our cat last Saturday evening. We were warned it was £225 to see the vet on top of treatment. Sadly for us after x-rays it was discovered she had shadowing on her lungs, and following her lung lobe removal with cancer last year, we had to let her go on Tuesday. We are heartbroken.

Oh @Slinky that is so sad. I've heard it said that animals we love escort us over the rainbow bridge when the time comes; there are no more partings then. Sending love Humdinger xx6
