Lovely evening out. 3 of us met at the local chippy and shared cod bits and chips. We ate outside on the village square and one of the others had bought a bottle of fizz so I begged some take away paper cups from the chip shop and we drank the wine then went to the Church concert for Christmas and the cups of tea in the village pub before home. Simple pleasures. We 3 agreed we had missed that kind of night out of great company, giggles and shared fun. The Friday Night Chip Shop Crowd smiled a lot at the three of us middle aged ladies at the outside bench laughing and being happy.
A gratitude for sure.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

As for the other issues, the insurance have upped the offer by around 60% given my evidence base. Still not enough to replace like for like but much better. Just need to see if they will fund the recovery costs too so not resolved but getting closer. (The VNM is going to replace the difference so I'm not losing out at all but I am frustrated by the company).
My business now has working phones (I think, so far so good) and the lovely technical chap I finally got through to helped me set up a lot of it, during which time an "installation engineer" arrived and between the 3 of us we figured it out. There are a few other issues to resolve, one affects day to day working so is frustrating but should get sorted next week, the other, more seriously it seems I was sold equipment I did not and will never need. The technical chap has filed a report and I need to follow up with sales next week for a refund. It seems not all the tech support staff are "off shore" (indian call centre working from scripts) some are actually in Scotland and are ace problem solvers!
Today I need to work all day as spent 9.5 hours on the phone to support centres - and - had 2 engineers out - so have lost a lot of the week!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

That's dreadful about the phones - though great that there are experts now available and between you it's being resolved. Good to hear the insurance offer has been upped, too. Good for you for having the confidence and persistence to fight those fights. I should invent a hashtag: #Wattysawinner
The chippy dinner and evening out sounds like lots of fun (that would be me and my friends eating under the stars after a walk including tea room) and perhaps something to repeat at least quarterly, though you wouldn't get the Christmas concert.

I wish you were close to here as I could do with someone (other than several BT engineers) who know what they are doing. Can anyone anywhere explain why when I hang up my phone it cuts off the internet & the phone for 10 minutes but only about 90% of the time.

Watty1 said:That is an excellent idea @Slinky Happy to take MSE divisions. . There is a weed infested spot behind where the horsebox is parked. It has previously been a nursery for baby hedging a strawberry bed and a sweet pea patch. I've been wondering what to do with it. Do onions need much sun? The lorry would need to move if they do.
I think a sunny spot is wise, that's what we've always had. We plant Centurion which you can get at most garden centres I think. They are a fairly early variety. Plant them far enough apart that you can get a hoe round easily. If you've got any old cardboard boxes you could use them now to cover the weeds. Keep them well watered.

It probably is the wiring because it only started happening after the engineer insisted on moving the hub when we got our first Halo 3. We are now on our 3rd. I am going to need to get them to come & put things back how we had them before. I will have to wait until I feel strong enough for the fight as a couple of others have priority.

Your chop shop bench night sounds fun
did something similar after Covid outside for my birthday - instead of elegantly sitting in a wine bar my friends and I giggled in a London square with far too much wine .. one got stuck in the bushes !DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
