Sounds like it has really paid off getting the work done I am sure it will be lovely to get it all back in order. Do try and do any last silly snagging jobs so it actually is finished as that will give you a nice calm feeling everytime you are in the room as you are not looking at something that should be done.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Love the bird nesting talk. I seem to have baby birds in my bay tree as I can hear them calling. I just hope they are high enough to be protected from my cat but it's pretty dense so think should be okay.

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

A good point @TallGirl There a lot of small jobs that need doing so I think I will make a list. It will possibly take most of May to get through them. I need to book an electrician for a day to change over some sockets, disconnect the old alarm system and remove as much as possible, sort out a light and so on. I also need a carpenter for a day to do some fixes and then a lot of it is stuff I can do like remove the old glue from the bathroom floor (should have had it replaced but didn't) and so on.
Each job is small but I can see if I don't have a plan they will drag on and the calm clear uncluttered feeling I crave will not come.
Rode Most Handsome for the first time in weeks yesterday and was in tears at the end because he was just so wonderful. I forget how beautifully he moves when I don't ride him regularly. He started out being silly, pretending to be scared of WattyDog and then spun in circles then did an impression of a giraffe and then suddenly seemed to shrug and say "dressage pony button engaged" and was stunning. A neighbour popped in on her beautiful dressage horse with her trainer and both said "very nice" and the trainer then said "he is a really quality little chap, you should do more with him" and Most Handsome and I swaggered back to the stable feeling very proud of ourselves.
Me because this was a horse the ex convinced me I could not ride and should give up and just retire and Most Handsome because he knows he is rather wonderful, loves praise and just felt proud of himself for getting compliments from those who know what they are doing Also no sign of the lameness that was so difficult to deal with earlier this year.

What a lovely positive post I'm glad you're able to enjoy the house and the menagerie! Being able to make the list of small jobs and start getting them done (or arrange to get them done) is HUGE progress. I know I feel so much better now my office has been sorted out, and as the bookcases are being fixed to the wall in the studio at the moment, that will also make a massive difference as I will have another room done that's nice to be in. While I'm dreading the next big project, I know it is important to get on and get it done. It'll be finished by winter, and I'm hoping I can also get a couple of smaller projects dealt with too.
I have lots of birds. Not so keen on the ones in the roof (and possibly wall cavity) as they're noisy. And I'm delighted about the bats - the pest control guy has recommended putting up bat boxes as well to encourage more of them. Anything that eats mosquitoes and midges is welcome. It's just a pity they don't eat spiders
