I believe the NICE guidelines for England have very limited recommendations re support for anxiety and they are CBT and relaxation. I was reading yesterday that there is a campaign amongst a large number of organisations to challenge this.
NICE anxiety guideline campaign
Glad you have found a counsellor privately that you find helpful though I realise that comes at a cost in a number of ways. Hugs

Really sorry to read about your experience but not surprised to be honest. One of the many reasons I have chosen to return to my home country. Count yourself lucky you have worked hard and can pay for private sessions.

Thanks @teapot2 That was an interesting read but honestly I don't think it is anxiety and nor does anyone who has actually listened to me. The outfit Monday's person worked for has actually written to my GP saying it is PTSD.
Hey ho. I think the system is most likely overwhelmed in the South East.

A lovely end to the day - we ate at the table on the yard just as the sun was about to go. Yes it was a bit cold but it was still lovely to eat outside with WattyDog hopefully wondering what he might get. He was out of luck as dinner was two ready meals from the freezer and they were horrid. They were part of our experiment with the 'too good to go' bags a while back. Still they are gone now but I expect we will both be hungry later.
When we did an orchard clear last year all the wooden furniture was chopped up except one bench I had long ago bought from e bay and PPH left it as it was mostly rotten. Instead of chopping up, it found its way to the barn where it has been restored - virtually remade by VNM - and now painted a very pale blue grey. It looks gorgeous and has been put by the front door. The front of the cottage has lovely morning sun until lunchtime whilst everywhere else is in shade (other than the fields). So, after lunch I sat outside and just enjoyed the sun. Small wins. It did make me think that once again the windows and door need repainting and I still need the front drive done but it is all still in progress - the focus of the month is health and well being and enjoying the sun is part of that.
I also found time to clear another cupboard and have finally found the boots in need of repair and have a small pile of clothes to donate and one to try to sell. Now I need to find the repairers details!

That sounds a lovely day.
It may be worth looking up which is your nearest specialist ptsd clinic if you agree with that diagnosis and asking your gp for a referral, or contacting them to ask for advice on what may suit you

It was a lovely afternoon here too. Not as warm as some places, but lovely in the sun. I just pottered in the garden, planted out a salvia that's been overwintering in the garage on the windowsill. Just hope I haven't gone too early, but I was getting fungus gnats, so wanted to get it in the ground. It's due to be very cold overnight. Hopefully we don't get a frost. I also moved some other self seeded plants to fill in some gaps, and did some weeding with the assistance of Plant.net. I've decided that I'm going to take advantage of self seeders that are obviously happy in the garden to avoid spending lots of money on garden centre plants which may not thrive.

Just catching up, sorry to hear about the farce that is free medical help atm. Of any kind. I think they're so overwhelmed they just fob the majority of us off. I've had all sorts of diagnosis over the years because they cannot figure out what's wrong and just palm me off to someone else. I now self-disgnose for the most part and have a better success rate than they do when something's up with me. I've put complaints in to drs before and not a lot has happened really so if you decide to go that route I hope you get a better outcome.

Some therapists seem to be healing themselves more than their clients. I wonder if this is the case here? Listen to yourself @Watty1; you know what works. A shining example to us all love Humdinger xx
PS edited to add that the budget holders adore the thought that 6 CBT sessions sort everything. No they don't! Xx

@Humdinger1 I know, on one level that idea is almost funny it is so ridiculous. On a more serious level though I worry it builds expectations in those who really want to get well that they will be better in 6 weeks and so feel worse when they are not.

Boots found. Boot repairer found. Now just need to send pictures and ask if he can restore them. In the world of riding/country style boots the internet tells me a new pair would be £249 - but - these were made when the company started up and on finding they did not do my size they made a template of my foot and sent me a "made to measure pair" for £20 more - so - I am really hoping he can repair them. They need new zips, a stud is missing so he will need to find a pair of buttons to fit and Miss Feral Kitten appears to have scratched them badly.
Will take pictures and see if he can restore them.
All wardrobes now sorted out. Just need to pack donations up ready to drop off.
