Thank you all for the good wishes.    I’ve been so tired today which I think might be emotional 

WattyDog has responded well to pain meds so I’ve used treats to encourage him to try to use the garden steps which he is doing now without being bribed.     In the spirit of doing life differently instead of our walk today we went for a cup of tea in the village and watched the world go by.  The cafe handed over a bowl of water and a dog treat.  I lifted the bowl up so he could enjoy his drink too

Aww bless him, a nice dog treat and a cool drink of water watching the world go by is priceless.  My DH built our old dog a really high feeding bowl / water bowl (though contrary dog will only drink water out of the rusty wheelbarrow outside)

So sorry to hear about WattyDog. I hope the pain meds can help him to cope. Your village visit sounds lovely though, even if not your usual walk.

Cleaning invoice paid then sent redo's excellent   'Thank you but I will not need your services going forward' 

I am so grateful to you all, oftentimes someone here has helped me when I really needed it and that text phrase was perfect.

Got an acknowledgement from agency, then a text, then a voice note and then a phone call.  Seems agency has lost a few clients lately and the common denominator is the same cleaner but no-one will give proper reasons.  So, I did, including her continual claims to be short of cash, the floor, the lack of dusting the comments about my dresses and about VNM wallet being in his trousers.  Now all of this could be coincidental and easily explained (dresses maybe hanging on a door that I didn't remember, she picked up the trousers to move them and so on) but it had me uncomfortable and I have never before had a cleaner I would not leave in the house alone.

Agency lady suitably apologetic and asked if she could replace her.  I said maybe in the future but the whole thing had been too stressful and I want WattyDog settled and happy first so I would leave it for now.

Well done on giving the agency the feedback. I do that if I think the receiver is actually prepared to listen - that will help in some way going forward, even if being able to talk to her other clients more openly.

It is surprisingly hard to give negative feedback.  I had always thought well it's the truth so just do it.  But then I had never had to do it.  I would never have said anything but the sister for the ward rang me and asked.  I told her everything had been really good, as everything was as far as I was concerned.  Then we get the but.  Nothing to do with me but a nurse was changing someones bed & came from behind the curtain to ask someone just standing in the ward to wait & help her get the woman back into bed.  She went back behind the curtain & he walked out.  When she looked out to get him she just rolled her eyes, so not the first time that had happened.  So she put her own health at risk to get the patient back into bed.  I knew she would never say anything because she would be accused of racism.  She probably got in trouble for not saying anything.  I just wish people could just be people.
