You don't need the extra mental load of a not great cleaner. In my experience cleaners all start strong and often progress to increasingly rubbish and/or unreliable.
I may have suggested Librela already for Wattydog. If so - sorry xxx2 -
WattyDog has got worse. He did a 15 to 20 min walk and went in the pond for a little swim. An hour later he was clearly in a lot of pain and would not /could not eat so we went to the emergency overnight vets.
I am grateful I can afford to do this, kidney checks, pain killers and an assessment. From feel he has osteoarthritis which I knew, but, she suspects his spine has begun to crumble.
Injected pain killers and we are home with pain killers to go forwards. He is brighter this morning with the pain relief but unwilling to go outside. He did come to the yard to feed the horses but I needed treats to get him up the garden steps and once on the yard he just wanted to go home. He has never opted just to come straight back in before. I am struggling to absorb how much my dog has aged within the last couple of weeks.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!7 -

Poor WattyDog. I wish I could loan him some of Stinky's bounce... particularly now when we could do without it. Dogs will keep going through a lot of pain to do what they love - and what you want them to do, so it's obviously reached the stage where he just can't. Hopefully he can adjust to a slower pace of life and enjoy your company quietly instead of madly.5

Thinking of you and Watty dog and sending healing thoughts and gentle (((hugs))) XXXI Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy4 -
Oh that is a hard point to come to.
Your care and insight will help him now. Perhaps as people have said, encourage him to enjoy rest. If he's clearly not wanting to do his usual things, the balance has changed from those things being benefits to them being things to avoid.
I'm glad the pain relief is helping.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
