Hi, I'm not getting much sewing done now as I'm fence painting. I was dreading painting my new fence but I'm quite enjoying it. I borrowed my mum's garden stool/kneeler and sit listening to my audiobook while I paint and paint and paint. My mum who's 92 says I can get it once she's gone 🤣🤣🤣.I have finished another baby set. I only had enough wool for the top and bootees so no hat in this set. I've knitted this a few times as it's so cute.
@Florenceem the scrappy quilt is only 35" square. It's not very big but that's all the scrap fabric I had left.Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

I am in awe of how much you all manage to make - well done. Such lovely makes.
I have finished another lavender bag. Just one more left. Now I am older, I certainly can't see as well for cross stitch. When I was young, I used to make sure the strands were flat and parallel, and used linen. Now it is a bit hit and miss if I get the hole with aida fabric. On the plus side, I am not aware of faults and imperfections lol. I really need to get on and do more before my eyes get worse.

@old_fogey - I read this some time ago
"The Amish intentionally make a mistake in their quilts because only God is perfect.” This is a myth. Any mistake you find in an Amish quilt is just that–a mistake."
I always think of this when I see any imperfections in my work. If the Amish can accept mistakes then so can I 🤣🤣🤣

@plumduff55 so true! My mum used to scrutinise my work and look for mistakes - but I accept them now as quirks, and better that the uniformity of machine made!2025 craft items finished 11/12

I've scrutinised it quite closely and cannot see any mistakes old fogey
Gorgeous knit and colour plum duff.
I've heard the saying but not attributed to the amish (whose quilting, I agree, is lovely), but attributed to persia? Turkey? somewhere in a hot part of the world. I'm showing my total ignorance of the world beyond the end of my road, but it was those gorgeous Turkish type mosiac tiles in homes and the patterns are like Persian carpets. The saying i heard was only Allah is perfect and therefore there is deliberate mistakes in the tiling and the carpets.

4 cards and 6 notebooks to report. Managed another couple of father's day cards for tomorrow- just have to sell them now! I sold a couple of notebooks at my last fair, so thought i'd give them another go. At the very least, small boy will use them for sketchbooks if they don't sell.
Now at 61/200- a fair way to go, but at least the mojo has returned!

plumduff55 - wonderful knitting.
old_fogey - lovely cross stitch.
emsi_b - cute note books.
Only crafting done this week was to alter a tee shirt - my over locker played up - then my sewing machine didn't like the fabric but I got it done.
I was asked to sew stars and beading on an outfit. I stitched on one star but they are just glued on gems on a plastic base so tend to come off when the needle hits them. I am trying fabric tac now.
I am stitching on the string of bling though.
Any advice welcome.

The Fabric Tac glue is no good - so I am going to try E6000. I have some - unused - just ordered a respirator mask as it is nasty stuff but should do the job - fingers crossed.
I had planned to take the costume and stars and stitch them on while at the hospital with Mr F on Tuesday but will have to sort out some other hand work to do.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

^^^^ I know this sounds silly, but is there any way you could punch some holes in the stars and then sew them on with large stitches? or punch holes and then sew them on with a small bead to anchor which would be a neater finish. It really depends just how much wash & wear the costume is going to get.
(Thinking leather punch or eyelet punch)
Must say I would prefer to keep away from glue, especially the toxic kind.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
