I read mine in bed - or play Suduko etc. on it to slow my brain down ready for sleep. The night time setting is good for reducing the light so the brain doesn't interpret it as daylight.

I'm with you both on the night-time setting! I normally get sleepy 15 minutes after crawling into bed, so don't get much reading done there, but it's the ritual of reading rather than watching that signals my body into rest mode.

Also the ability to change font size is invaluable on both tablet and phone, means I can read without glasses and also while lying on my side.

If I need a kindle book when on the laptop I usually use the Kindle cloud reader. That wouldn't be for leisure reading though

Well I’m glad I came across the kindle discussion. I have one of the original experimental versions with a keypad but no backlight or apps. I thought it would last forever and I have often gone back to it at times. It’s currently tucked away in my desk drawer and doubtless will be on the retired list as it predates 2012. My little fire tablet is used purely as a kindle as I needed a lit screen when camping.

This has made me want to at least charge the original, check what’s in the library and see if it’s still downloading anything as a few favourites could go on for sentimental sake.

I've just backed mine up to the cloud - not sure if this is the same as @Welshmansdaughter is mentioning? I came across it as an option under device options/backup and restore. I've discovered I'm only using a little fraction of the SD card I added when I was reaching a storage crisis - but I do't know if I can just add that to any future Kindle or get access that stuff on a computer or phone, and I don't know how to find which downloads are stored on it.

@Dakota_Rose, could you download the app and see what you have stored that way? I assume everything you've bought from Kindle is there, but that's just an assumption.

I'm now wondering about what games will still be accessible… will maybe investigate that tomorrow.

Cloud reader is just what they call the online reader. You can log in to your kindle account from a webpage and read

When I got my newer kindle I discovered it had all the books on that my old one had. It is a good job it has a lot more storage. I know some of them are not full length books but I do have around 1500 on there.
