I read mine in bed - or play Suduko etc. on it to slow my brain down ready for sleep. The night time setting is good for reducing the light so the brain doesn't interpret it as daylight.

I'm with you both on the night-time setting! I normally get sleepy 15 minutes after crawling into bed, so don't get much reading done there, but it's the ritual of reading rather than watching that signals my body into rest mode.
Also the ability to change font size is invaluable on both tablet and phone, means I can read without glasses and also while lying on my side.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! If I need a kindle book when on the laptop I usually use the Kindle cloud reader. That wouldn't be for leisure reading though

Well I’m glad I came across the kindle discussion. I have one of the original experimental versions with a keypad but no backlight or apps. I thought it would last forever and I have often gone back to it at times. It’s currently tucked away in my desk drawer and doubtless will be on the retired list as it predates 2012. My little fire tablet is used purely as a kindle as I needed a lit screen when camping.
This has made me want to at least charge the original, check what’s in the library and see if it’s still downloading anything as a few favourites could go on for sentimental sake.

I've just backed mine up to the cloud - not sure if this is the same as @Welshmansdaughter is mentioning? I came across it as an option under device options/backup and restore. I've discovered I'm only using a little fraction of the SD card I added when I was reaching a storage crisis - but I do't know if I can just add that to any future Kindle or get access that stuff on a computer or phone, and I don't know how to find which downloads are stored on it.
@Dakota_Rose, could you download the app and see what you have stored that way? I assume everything you've bought from Kindle is there, but that's just an assumption.
I'm now wondering about what games will still be accessible… will maybe investigate that tomorrow.

Cloud reader is just what they call the online reader. You can log in to your kindle account from a webpage and read

When I got my newer kindle I discovered it had all the books on that my old one had. It is a good job it has a lot more storage. I know some of them are not full length books but I do have around 1500 on there.

Oh that must be the same as I'm using, I think.
And I thought I had a lot!

Quite a bit got done today. DH had the day off and decided he needed to order some more jeans. In next to no time I found a nice pair on V1nted that he liked so those are ordered and, at £6.14, will hopefully save some unnecessary spending. If for some reason they aren't right, he can donate them and buy new (or I can get in there with another V1nted snipe!)
He went out for a walk and I finished the Shepherd's pie for lunch (he had sausages later), then he spent a couple of hours at volunteering this afternoon while I tackled some garden work. Grass is mown, some shrubbery neatened up and the green bin loaded with debris and taken to the collection point ready for tomorrow.
There were porridge oats needing to be used so I made flapjacks and they glued themselves very firmly to the greaseproof paper in the baking tin. I added ginger to the mix and it worked, but in future I must remember to use silicone liners not paper. The flapjacks themselves looked nice while in the tin but are now crumbled lumps of oats-in-toffee after I managed to get them out.
I had some admin to do: I've emailed work about whether they have a login I can use for printable resources, and apologised to my team for another postponement of our meeting, as I double-booked. I've sent out a short poll for when they would be likely to be available for a rerun, and early results show I have about six weeks to wait! May is a very stretched month for the team as so many are away, so I don't have many dates to offer them but at least I don't need to rush things. I explained to my line manager at church that I can't help out on a particular date and she's has asked for a catchup meeting which we've booked in: haven't seen her to speak to properly for ages, the leadership team are so busy. And I've emailed S1mple as the moisturiser I bought is far too thick for the bottle it's in. The bottle isn't really squashy and the stuff just stays in there, even when it's permanently turned upside down. I've suggested they put it in a tub to make it easier to use and avoid waste.
I've not been to the shops today so just spent the above £6.14. DH bought milk and marmite.

After what looked like quite a good day yesterday, DH wasn't well this morning but has still gone to work. This is IBD playing up - it was stable for a long time but we can't seem to get this flare up under control and he's had to come off various medications due to side effects. Mornings tend to be the worst so I'm hoping things will settle somewhat during the day, but I've suggested he rings the consultant if he gets the chance, rather than ring on Friday and risk being left over the weekend without advice.
Well, I have to be out in an hour as I'm working this afternoon, so I'd better get my skates on.
