It's proving very interesting, and I've only sorted through the 'A's and 'B's so far! Of course, *mazon, *rgos and *sos are all 'A's. I have no memory of some of those orders, especially the Kindle books. Mind you, Kindle could do with a facility to look at all my books as if on a shelf. A very long shelf, admittedly.
I've done very little today, just the bathroom cupboard and the beginnings deleting 37,000 emails. Oh, nd prepared some activities for tomorrow's class. I'm basing it on the baseline papers I had sight of last week, but as well as fun stuff, I decided to get AI to write me a short script to base a few exercises around.
The flowers have all been put of of doors and a hay fever tablet taken, but I'm still streaming, so perhaps it's a cold. I will forgive the flowers and bring them in again, but overnight they will be under plastic bags, just in case!
I've spent nothing today but DH has. He'd ordered a painting he saw at an exhibition, from a contemporary artist. The exhibition is now over so he paid for and collected it and apparently I'm giving it to him for his birthday. He also saw a roofer at work and liked his work so the man came round this afternoon to have a look at our roof. This roofer actually looked at the inside which has led to a different conclusion from the first one who said £10,000-15,000 and the slates would have to be replaced by tiles. That's vastly more than another company said a few years ago. Today's roofer said the wood would have to be reinforced if tiles were used so slate would be better. He thinks the increased cost of the slate would be offset by not having to reinforce the roof… last week's roofer said he spends his time taking solar panels off. This weeks' isn't as agin them, but doesn't leap about yelling 'Whoopy, solar panels!', either.
Why bother with an ISA, when I can pour savings into the house instead? (That's a rhetorical question).

The electrician I used said he installed solar panels but couldn't see how they were worth it in Scotland 🤣 After 21 days in January without any sight of the sun you can kinda see his point.
Another unfortunate side effect of popularity, the more appropriate technology for me and probably you would be wind turbines but they're not as accessible

I had a good night's sleep which I'm grateful for: sleep makes such a difference. I migrated to the spare bed, though. Might as well give DH his best chance at sleep, too.
It's very windy this morning and set to rain later, so I will layer up for work. I usually find I'm a bit chilly from sitting down for two and half hours in a village hall. Will take and offer to use a face mask as I don't think they will want my germs.
I counted up the tally of deleted emails: 3,470 yesterday.

Apparently they don't need actual sunshine - though I expect it helps! If we had a wind turbine today, we'd do well, unless of course it gets so windy it would have to be shut down.

Not quite in Scotland (north west) but I don't think our more northern solar would have any point without a battery although I gather many in the south don't bother. I have been filling my battery with cheap overnight electric. That gives me about 7kWh over 10p cheaper than daytime, then a bit of a top up before the expensive rate again saving at least 10p a kWh. I use a lot about 20 a day so it soon adds up.
As for the kindle, mine has 1432 books on it. I can't even remember the authors I have bought let alone the names of the books. I usually buy at 99p or less except for a very few authors. I have a spreadsheet listing them all by author with some authors having the word no next to them. The bad news is that I only have 3 left unread, that is on another spreadsheet!

One side of our roof faces roughly SE, @badmemory , so I think it's well placed to get what sun is available, though we are on a level with Kendal, so reasonably northerly. We probably wouldn't feel the benefit, in terms of it having paid for itself, till we are 10 years or so retired, but on a day to day level, I think a battery would be a good investment. Our heating is basically gas, but everything else is electric, including the cooking, and of course nowadays there are a million and one things to charge up.
Your Kindle must have a phenomenal memory! I thought I had more than I do, there are under 500, but I've also got apps. I think I lost access to a lot of those when I changed Kindle and some apps were no longer updated or something, but there are few I've actually missed.
Well, I managed both jobs but I'm just about wiped out now and am intending to get to bed sooner rather than later. I wasn't properly organised about food so I bought a meal deal as well as the filled croissant that I'd packed, and that saw me through. Then DH cooked me some salmon and pasta when I got in, so I'm almost too full to do anything.
The tutor and I were discussing the declining number in the class: one has passed her exam and moved on, another has personal reasons for more or less dropping out, someone else was at a funeral… it's only a small class and if numbers stay low, it will be pulled.

If you are using the same kindle account you should be able to access any book you have already bought. I can't accidentally rebuy a book because it shows as bought & when. My original kindle from 2012 is still going but sometimes throws a wobbler so I replaced it a few years ago with one that I can read without a light on, it saves the bedside light wakening me up!

I can still get all the books, but at one point I was adding a lot of apps as I use it for games and internet as well as reading. Most of those apps are no loss: I just didn't miss them when I changed Kindles (the touch screen on the old one stopped responding after 10 years). Some of them are probably still accessible, but I've already had to add memory so I just stick to a few now. The only reason it's an issue is that I miss a very pretty weather app with animations, but it's simply not longer sold and for some reason wouldn't carry across.

Today is calm and dry - what a change from yesterday! I've had a very lazy morning after an early night (woke up about five for an hour but got some more sleep after that). I'm hoping this will help me get past the snuffling stage. The pharmacist found me a steroid nasal spray yesterday (I can't take things with adrenalin) but it's not by any means cured the breathing. I suppose a few more days and either it will kick in or the cold will have got better by itself!
Yesterday's spending:
Medication: 6.29
Gift: (greetings card) 99p
Housekeeping: 19.23
Diesel 30.53
Something or other DIY 4.00
The AA has refunded us £173. 😊
The Council Tax bill has arrived: £2,047.34 p.a. which, as we pay over 10 months, is £202.34 in April then £205 after that. That's one of the bills I pay, so I had better keep picking up shifts!

The plan for the rest of the day is to get moving, have lunch and do my stint of church cleaning. I've got quite the shopping list to pick up on the way, then I'm working at 4.30.
I missed a few offers as I didn't feel up to supermarket visits over the last couple of days, but they will come round again and meanwhile we get to hold on to the money. I've made a list in case I get time to go into MrS, as the list of Nectar points items is really long, but I want to be sure I'm only buying things where that works out as a genuine discount for us. There are some 'real' offers too, so they are on the list.
I've a small parcel to collect, and the remains of the prescription from the other day.
