If it helps they were in my attic for a very short time - basically getting wiring through & out the other side. The person who came fully checked my loft before he would even consider quoting. He checked the insulation & for damp & that the actual roof was solid. He also checked the loft access & said they would just need to move the hanging rail & then put it back. If they aren't checking that stuff then personally I wouldn't touch them.

I've done neither yet, sorry! I hope you have managed it.

I've been battling decision paralysis and taking things in little steps. Long ago I learned from Flylady 'Dress to the shoes, face and hair, make bed, clean toilet'. That always helps and it did today. I did a short Bible study (my alternative to meditation) and got the dishwasher switched on. Somehow it helps to hear a machine working!

DH is at work so I have the first day to myself for a while, but the window cleaner has been so we had a brief conversation. I paid him straight away (£6). I've also sorted the laundry, done two loads and run out of drying space, though it's a breezy day and temps are around 14 so I'm hoping a lot of items will be dry and folded neatly rather than flung on the ironing pile. That leaves one load of washing for another day.

Sundry bits of unpacking have been tackled - the main things were done yesterday.

I never got the phone call from the solar people, but I may have got the wrong day. It's been useful though, as I had a good looks at our energy bills (still in credit) and discovered they will also quote us for solar panels. Reading their information has given me some idea of what questions I ought to be asking.

Lunch was some of yesterday's chick pea dish with a pancake from the freezer.

Good discussion on @Greying_Pilgrim 's thread about the highly variable prices of lentils has tempted me to look out for bargains but I have enough for some time. I really wish our Mr T did dried pulses but they just don't, which is odd as it's fairly large and the prices for them in some other Mr Ts are currently very good.

Well, there's no point waiting in for the call and the sky has clouded over so I will get the shopping and hope it doesn't rain, at least till I'm back.

They do make solar panels that roof tile like if that could be a consideration

Well done for planting the pansies and violas, @Rhyyddid2026, they will look lovely. I haven't managed either seeds or V1nted today after all - though I've started feeding my houseplants again, which means it's definitely spring.

I know very little about solar panels so I'm not sure what this means - do they slightly overlap like tiles? I've learned a bit from reading 0ctopus's site, but I can see I've a way to go.

I went to Mr T before shopping and a kind employee fixed the glitch that meant I couldn't use the Clubcard on my phone. I've also been to 1celand for some Olio discounts and to L1dl - a total of £42.03 spent on groceries today which is rather a lot.

Three hours of work this evening, I must get my February timesheets in tomorrow.

The washing came in a bit early, by the way as there were tiny drops of rain. At least it's most-part dry. The forecast for tomorrow is lovely.

I believe they replace roof tiles so it may be something to consider if the roof needs doing anyway. Rather than having separate panels. Although they are likely to be more expensive

Oh I see! Thanks for that, it may well be worth looking into. It would reduce the issues of nests and debris that I imagine could otherwise lodge around solar panels.

Today is child care day, so not much to be said at the moment.

I wondered if those tiles might be acceptable in some areas where they have greater restrictions

I didn't sleep too well last night: woke up about three and got myself a snack and a hot water bottle, which got me back to sleep. I think I felt Friday's visit to a potential new workplace was looming, and I really wasn't looking forward to it, despite it being a chance to see if I could get myself back into my old field. Then today I've talked it through with DH and emailed the manager to say I didn't feel I could do the job at present. In fact, although I might do similar work one to one, I just don't feel comfortable with a group setting anymore. I now feel a lot lighter, though of course it would have meant more income. However, if more income is at the cost of my health or wellbeing, it's not worth it.

After that, it's been a good birthday! DH had the day off and made me my choice of main meal (sweet potato and lime casserole). We had Jasmine rice with it, which I've never tried before and was okay. We are doing our family celebration on Saturday but I have a voucher from Auntie, several things from DH (the promise of a pottery-making experience, a large Denby bowl from the old set I collect, some yogurt-covered ginger, a book and a mug) and the promise of a year's membership of the walled garden when my current one runs out (from DD and family). From my sister, a message to say she has forgotten to post my present! Bless her.

DH and I met up with DD and baby A for coffee in the really nice café where DD and I went before Christmas and I was given a free card of stamps to make up for them getting my order wrong. Today I cashed that in for a free cappuccino.

I have a full day tomorrow so I'd better get to bed.
