Have you tried  a kids indoor soft play centre, now that will really test you. I take my GD to one and by the end of the session, I feel like I have had a great workout. Xx
Lol, I admit that's one I've not tried, but various other toddler-care activities certainly help keep me fit!

Good news this morning - DH has been signed off from one of the consultants. After about five years the only change has been a slight improvement and it's one of those things that you wouldn't know about without tests so they are happy for him to continue without them.

Fairly good news on the MOT too: there's nothing alarming to attend to, though some advisories and because of the age of the car we don't need an MOT pass. This was an exercise in ensuring it's safe to drive and nothing dreadful pending.

I spent most of the morning sorting out things for next term's rota, and that's before I allocate anyone to anything. Unfortunately the lesson pack for Sunday has gone missing: I thought I had it among those I brought home for my use but there's no sign. I've sent the leader the PDF of the lesson and a couple of suggestions for resources, which I hope will be enough. They're very experienced so I don't think it will be a problem, I just don't like things to go missing on my watch!

DH did tuna pasta for lunch and I suggested we had a coffee somewhere so we tried a very local café that's recently been reopened by another local firm. I was very confused as the layout has changed inside but the nosh was as good as ever, and it was nice to get out and have some time together.

Later I went looking for a pillow slip for the spare bed and ended up pulling out the underbed drawer where bedding is stored, emptying it out and re-gluing the base, which had come loose. Talk about distractable!  Tomorrow I hope to find the proper wood glue as I think the repair needs to be strengthened. I've also filled the laundry basket with old sheets which I'll hot wash and see what to do with them. I think a few are single which will be either repurposed or passed on as we've not had single beds here for years.

Work was uneventful... I've started with DGD's cold but not too badly and the fresh air walking home was helpful.

    Expenditure:
Nothing by me. DH paid for the beverages and a very good cinnamon bun. I think he said £64 for the car.

The bag of resources never showed up but the leader for tomorrow is happy to print off what I've sent over. It's possible the person who was originally doing tomorrow has the missing things but I suspect I'm the guilty one. It will show up and won't be needed for a while anyway.

The claim for the broken kettle is progressing - now they want a photo to show we've cut the flex (ironically the base has the flex and the bit that's probably broken, the actual kettle, doesn't) and they will send us the refund.

DH is enjoying the bit of sunshine with a cycle ride and I've put laundry in the machine. An 'all the bits and pieces' wash first as that's quick and maximises drying time. The Internet says to use vinegar and bicarb for yellowed sheets so that's what I'll do with the old bedding, on a hot wash, and see if I can get them looking nice again. I'm pretty sure they used to be washed in laundry detergent and fabric conditioner so the vinegar helps strip out build up, and bicarb is, I assume, a form of magic (i.e. I don't know how it works but I'm told it helps). I can't provide strong sunshine to help with the bleaching but November is trying to oblige so I won't complain.

I wonder if I can get the knitted rabbit finished today? No progress at all yesterday. I'll report back.

I've been nursing a cold today, though I've had worse. It's tiring more than dreadful. At least I got the washing done and DH found me the wood glue so I've added a layer of that to the back of the underbed drawer. It now needs to be left for 24 hours. Meanwhile the airing rack is full but I've had mixed results with the old bedding. Some had come up well, but one pillowcase is definitely yellow whereas its partner is white. I am fairly sure that's from a time I thoughtlessly added a yellow duster to the wash! I might try it in bleach or stain remover.

Dinner today was plaice, cous cous and peas, then a piece of the gingerbread.

The rabbit has progressed a lot but isn't finished: he's assembled with enough limbs and a head, hat, jacket and slippers. The head is star gazing but I don't know why! Perhaps I should accessorise him with a toy butterfly on a stick to look up at? According to the pattern he needs a handkerchief, tail and onion, but I think the onion would make him harder to play with - he can always borrow one from the grocery cupboard.

I've been in apart from about twenty minutes cutting back blackberries to save me going stir crazy. There were still a few berries so they're soaking in a bowl in the fridge overnight. I got a recycling box, squashed down, of blackberry twigs which are now in the green bin. The job's not finished - it went dark - but it's better.

Thank you @WelshmansDaughter, I've felt a lot better after sleeping well last night, though it's back this evening and I just feel like going to bed!

I watched this morning's service from home, made the last bits of the knitted rabbit and even fitted in washing my hair. When DH got home we went to A and H's for F's birthday party. Most of the family were there and some of A and H's friends with their children. It was a very successful afternoon and the baby enjoyed her presents, just as her big sister enjoyed opening them with her! Plenty of food and lots of photos. I really like that nowadays there's a tradition of sending a selection of photos out to family on WhatsApp, rather than waiting till you get prints made, taking print numbers for copies and eventually getting them done.

That said, my phone is dire at the moment so I took people's advice on what they have and what they liked, to help inform my next choice.

I walked home afterwards to get some fresh air and exercise in the hope it would make me sleep well, and in fact when I near home I got very tired. Dinner was potluck from the fridge so DH had beans on toast and I had chick pea tikka.

I was shattered in yesterday evening and had an early-for-me night, only to wake up because DH has a cough. He got back to sleep and I didn't! So here I am... the cold is on the decline but my skin is so itchy, it actually feels as though there's something else pending. I was hoping a good night's sleep would put it right, but I've got reflux despite taking the medication so I got up hoping a bite to eat and a warm drink would help.

DH will be at work tomorrow and I've no lessons to prepare for a few days so I might press the button on an order for a new phone. New to me - despite my youngest telling me that anything but the latest is 'obsolete', what do I want with something that loses value as soon as I drive it off the forecourt? :D I think the price difference between new and reconditioned is so big that it's worth having something that's already had a year's use. The balance of the money can sit in the account ready for the next time around, or whatever else it's needed for. I'm quite pleased I've nursed the current phone through another year (new battery in summer) but it's not going to make it to another Black Friday.

I've also chosen a bit of yarn to make an accessory for the toy I delivered yesterday, so that will give my hands something to do.

  • I have a refurbished phone as a stopgap after the last one met its watery end.
It has had a few blips but I am a heavy phone user/dropper of phones.
I will buy new the next time I think, mostly because there is a phone I love and I want it to be mine all mine.

You have just reminded me to build in the cost of phone case and screen protector, @WelshmansDaughter! I dropped my phone a few times when I was running and the rubbery bumper around it now is a good protector.

I was going to go for a mini version but L told me he'd adapted to the full sized version and liked the features better, so now I'm wondering about that.

So I slept till ten to eleven this morning - if you don't count the two hours or so awake overnight, that's just about round the clock. Unheard of but nice.

If your meds are omeprazole read the paperwork.  I can take it for 3 weeks if I am lucky.  I miss cimetedine which did actually work usually within 36 hours.
