It may be worth asking your bank for a new card, my old one just stopped being contactless which was a real pain if I wanted to get on a bus for example1
-
And please, try not to take too much on! You don't seem to have time for you.1

Thank you @peb, the card works intermittently which is obviously not brilliant so I will try to organise myself to do just that.
I think I'm trying to fill my time to be honest - I miss the work I used to do but it was just too traumatic trying to get back into it, even after months of MH help. I'm trying to discover what else I can do. Finding out about my autism/ADHD has been really useful, so I understand that I have a tendency to follow perceived 'rules' (hence I'm a good worker) but also that demand avoidance affects how much I can freelance - so the cleaning jobs, where I can just get on and work and not have complications, are good as a source of income. It's been helpful to discover I can lead this team (with the little kids) and use some of the skills I had from previous work.
And now I need to get today's story printed (rewritten by me last night so at least I'm familiar with it and it uses my words) and check I have everything for our 'desert experience'. We also have a new helper who I've not met yet, so I'm wondering how that will turn out.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Welcome @rtandon27.
The morning session went fine: eight children but three of those were tiny. The tinies were all sleepy but none actually fell asleep, probably because we made paper trumpets which got 'played' very loudly. I also met the new volunteer who would like to start next week so I need to make sure he gets to meet the session leader, though I've shown him where the group meets and had a short chat.
We had a local walk of about an hour and a half after lunch. It was cold but pretty: not many leaves are left and the sky was grey and pink with distant smoke. I think they are burning off heather on the moors.
So that marks the end of a few busy days: I treated myself to reinstalling Age of Empires so that took up my evening. I'm working three evenings this week, and the Tuesday group is hoping to meet provided my friend's boss doesn't make her work. No Wednesday work or evening meeting, and I think I'm on the cleaning rota on Friday morning. So a low-activity week, and forecast to snow tomorrow.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

The Christmas Cake adventures have got me thinking about making one! Edited: I have just interviewed google and I think this might be a lovely way to use up some of the dried fruit in the cupboard. I found one which uses lots of the random flours I have too!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
Your 'using up' recipes often make me want to go out and buy ingredients, @Watty1! Mine is a very traditional recipe and I'd like to make a more unusual one as well. Meanwhile I dosed the fruit with more brandy last night and I'm thinking I might bake later this week.
My friend texted this morning and she's been asked to work tomorrow so I have that evening free as well. I need to resist putting Age of Empires on during the week as it takes so much time and my hands don't like all that mouse work.
It's lovely outside today but there's been frost overnight so the heating is on. I've put on layers and have a fleece over my knees so I'm snug. The other important thing is not to sit in a chair all day, so I will try to intersperse some activity.
There are still bulbs to plant but they will go in pots so that can be done today. I could bring them indoors for now. I'm enjoying checking on the Paperwhite narcissi I've planted for family, though they aren't doing anything dramatic. I will see what else I can get on with and report back.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I think I could have done with a plan for today as I'm not getting a lot done.
I managed to get up and moving by putting the Proclaimers on! So now the cutlery drawer is cleaned and sorted.Lunch was a kind of cheesy scrambled eggs with lots of veg in followed by a chocolate biscuit (I've just remembered how well I was doing at not eating chocolate after lunch) and a coffee. Some weeks ago I decided there was a lot of flavour left in coffee bags after use, so on impulse I froze some used ones and this lunch time's coffee proved it's still quite drinkable! I don't think this is money savings advice of the year because there are cheaper ways to get coffee, but it worked and saved what I'd think of as waste. The used bag is now in the compost so it can come back as tomatoes next year.
Next on the list is a couple of messages that need to be sent, and try to sort out the finances which need an update in the notebook and a massive update on the spreadsheet.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I cleared out my cutlery drawer a few months ago & couldn't figure out what to do with all my knives. I mean who needs 3 bread knives, 4 carving knives & various other large sharp knives. & where did I get them from. So they are all back there. I did get rid of many things that didn't have sharp blades so it wasn't all bad.

LOL @badmemory, I was asking myself a very similar question - we had eight soup spoons, we now have five and we don't use them often, so where have the others gone? And we have 25 dessert spoons from (apparently) eight different sets - one of which is completely unlike any others. I can account for four sets, but the rest...?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
