@Wednesday2000 - have I missed your outfit for the Taylor Swift concert? I was reminded of you when I saw this article. I agree with @Cherryfudge that adding an adult accessory will shift perceptions of the rucksack.
@ouraggie - your comments to your neighbour made me hoot with laughter and I'm definitely stealing the "well, they cost more than i would have liked, but I do love them” phrase, good for you!
@Rosa_Damascena - that is a coincidence and the teabag appearance did make me shriek, hope you enjoy your books and definitely agree that I prefer the jumble sale appearance to the "curated" one.
@Miró- I do like Charles Tyrwhitt shirts because they use such good quality fabrics and the buttons are always sewn on properly in my experience. The pattern on the dress would irk me too but can't quite see what you can do about it, maybe a floppy bow down the front.
Sorry to hear about the weather elsewhere, still hot and sticky here so hoping for some relief tomorrow so that Monday is fresher as I have a packed week of appointments here, there and everywhere planned but will try to call into some chazzas as I fly past. Happy bargain hunting to all, goldfinches.

That's a lovely top, @Rosa_Damascena. I am still cringing at the thought of the nails under your skin though!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

@Miró, my best sewing Bee-style makeover for your dress so far (you being far handier with a needle than I am) would be to separate the top and collar from the rest, turn the top so it buttons up the back and attach the collar facing forwards, possibly with a small bow where the top button used to be. If it's loose enough to fit that way around, that is. I think that would give a bit of a vintage vibe, though the sleeves are modern, and Patrick and Esme wouldn't be so critical of the pattern not matching at the back!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. @Wednesday2000 I wouldn’t cover the star, but I am obsessed with them. My mantra is if it has a star on it then it’s mine!
over the last few days:
Black leather jacket with gold buttons £12.50. Everything in the local hospice shop was half price so I couldn’t resist.
New Look denim dress. £7 (something else I struggle to resist)
2 Radley bags, a small purple cotton one £5 and a black leather camera bag style one ( the sort you can change the strap of) £15
A small but in perfect condition Cornishware storage jar £10.
A 500 ml bottle of Grace Cole strawberry and kiwi body lotion £2
When I bought the purple Radley bag the CS woman said it wasn’t worth the £10 price tag so she’d only charge £5. I was too surprised to argue. I bought the Cornishware the next day in a different CS and again the CS woman queried whether £10 was too much, but in that instance I was able to say I thought it was a fair price. She obviously hadn’t noticed the speed at which I travelled from seeing it in the window to presenting it at the till. 😂10 -
@Potternerd: the purple radley bag is a bargain. Just looked it up and there's one on Amazon retailing new at almost £47!7

@Wednesday2000 - your outfit sounds terrific and clearly you were in synch with the other fans.
@Potternerd - that dinky little Cornishware storage jar is just making me say Oooh, it's so sweet I've decided to add it to my search list.
I did pop into my favourite bhf shop this morning but didn't find anything I fancied at all not even the sausage stuffing thingy they'd set up on the top shelf of the bric-a-brac shelves, it was a bit like this one only not quite so heavy duty IYSWIM. Anyway, being vegetarian and not liking commercial veggie sausage casings I looked at it but thought no, not for me, hopefully someone who loves making their own salami etc. will spot it through the window."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

I'm sure I've mentioned before there was a particular book of ghost stories, long out of print, that I'd been searching for in second hand book shops and CSs too. One day I spotted it in a bin labelled "everything 29p" and snatched it out. It was in rough shape, starting to fall apart but the only other copy I'd seen of it was in the British Library so I scurried to pay for it. The woman on the till looked horrified at it's condition and said they should pay me to take it away. I told her I would have happily paid £1 for it!

Last night I dreamed of visiting chazzers that only ever exist in my dreams (sad but true)...so I took it as a sign to make up for the lack of chaz activity over the past week.
5 books, £1.80 in total. Am looking forward to doing some art history with my little niece:
A set of boxes that will be perfect to store my dressing table clutter, £3:
A Wallis blouse, and velour scarf which is far more beautiful than in the photo - £1.50 total.
And finally, a summer jacket from Thomas Pink that I thought would be huge on me (I'm a 14 but usually go for 16 in jackets to allow for thick clothing) but actually fit very well, £2:
No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.7 -
