The dress looks perfect for wafting round in hot sticky weather.
I don't think I've mentioned buying a small hardback book yesterday: 'Penny Rice and Treacle' by Doris E. Coates. I think it was Cancer Research and cost £2. It's a collection of recipes from the early 20th century.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Lovely dress!
I had one of those mats and found it so uncomfortable. Lol.5 -
I gave the mat a go last night - and yes it was uncomfortable but I persisted with it and lay perfectly still for half and hour.
Result: the best night's sleep I've had for ages, I feel well rested and firing on all cylinders this morning. Not bad for just £2 and the price of a machine wash.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.12 -
Rosa I have one of these mats.
During covid I used to work a very physical job, lifting, carrying, pushing for hours, my body and particularly my back really suffered. I would get home barely able to move. Half an hour on this mat would make all the difference - and like you said I found it also positively affected my sleep. Time to dig it out again I think.:)No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Rosa_Damascena said:Summer at last! I bought this Monsoon maxi dress (image from eBay) the other day for £4, not sure its really my thing and I doubt I'd wear it outside, but it fits well and is ok for wearing round the house on warm evenings so its drying nicely on the line today:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @Rosa_Damascena - I rather like the dress but the bed of nails gave me the screaming heebie jeebies, definitely a very individual choice, but great to hear that you're firing on all cylinders today though.
@shandyclover - that's very interesting to hear and I'm impressed that both you and Rosa even tried lying on the mats.
@Frith - lovely poster which I've seen and admired elsewhere before now and the dress looks perfect for the current weather.
@Brie - I think your outfit suggestions are sensational, we should have a fashion show here one day soon.
I popped my head round the door of my favourite bhf shop at lunchtime today and found this Aerolatte milk frother for £1.50 and a lap desk that will be useful when I need to work from my bed next winter, it needs some reglueing so the lovely member of staff knocked the price down to £3.
I've been rather yearning after one of these little milk frothers for ages so I'm awfully pleased to have finally spotted one in a chazza and it even has new batteries.
Then I looked at the books and bought all these which were £2 each apart from the gluten free etc. cookbook which was only £1.
I bought the copy of Illyrian Spring because I borrowed it several years ago from the library here and enjoyed the story of its popularity and the author's other books too."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

@goldfinches - I took advice from the internet and first time I used it I had on a t-shirt and stayed no longer that 30 seconds, working up to several minutes, then graduating up to removing my t-shirt.
It is uncomfortable for the first minute or so, then something strange happens - you feel a rush of blood and warmth, and it stops feeling uncomfortable. I have actually fallen asleep on my mat. There is some science behind it which I forget - but it was a very useful tool during covid when I was becoming alarmed at how many painkillers I was taking just to feel normal and sleep. No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014.
