Thankyou so much, it's actually quite warm here today, miraculous. I'd almost forgotten what warm sunshine felt like.Brie said:
Well good weather in the south at least 24 hours ahead of schedule. Happy to take the blame for it!!goldfinches said:6 -
I remarked to friends that yesterday was the perfect evening - long daylight hours and wonderfully temperate. I was out walking for 3 hours and reluctantly made my way back as it started to get dark at 10pm.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

@florianatwobob, I'm just popping in to say thank you for mentioning this recipe! We made it today and it's a keeper, though I used chickpeas as DH doesn't like eggs, so for an egg curry, it was a bit wide of the mark.Cherryfudge said:
I think @Brie's mum's idea of sultana rice would work well with it too: I like fruit in a curry and actually ended up chopping the remains of a mango over mine as I couldn't find mango chutney in the cupboards.
You were right in that it wasn't super-spicy, but it would be easy to make a double batch of the spice paste and add to taste.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Glad you enjoyed it @Cherryfudge and I’m a fan of a chickpea curry too so can see how it would work along with the addition of fruit.✒️ Declutter 2025 🏅👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

From the one opposite the donut stand in Kidder today (used to be Tammy Girl!)
£7. I had walked in to town (few miles) so had to carry this home. I've included my hand for scale!

Great find @Frith and lovely frame too. I do like the Georgian houses and the details in the reflection, very attractive.
I popped into one of the two Oxfam bookshops here on my way home from my Wednesday walking group and found these three treasures. The Ina Garten was £2.99 and the other two were £1.99 each.
So now I'm ensconced on the sofa perusing all three, a very pleasant way to spend an evening."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

@goldfinches - I too am an Ina Garten fan. Her food isn't fussy at all, and I love the way her recipes predictably start with a stick of butter or three

I'm another fan of hers. She was always on the Food Network channel - The Barefoot Contessa. I don't watch a lot of telly now so I don't know if she's still on but her progs were always simple to follow in plain language

Thought I was going to have another fruitless trip to Otley today but not so! First got a 2 pack of posh M&S tights for 50p and then in the PDSA shop I got a Black Watch tartan jacket by Ella for Viyella for £5.99. Fitted into the waist and with a peplum effect at the back. Looks unworn too. One selling on FleaBay for £35 in a used condition. Will be on the look out for a bottle green half circle midi skirt now!

Do we have any peeps with inside knowledge of chazza shops in Northumberland? Orft to stay in Alnwick for a week shortly…… Thankees! 😊9 -
@Rosa_Damascena - you're not wrong about the butter content of Ina Garten's recipes, the woman must have shares in a dairy or a cow at the bottom of her garden. How she stays the size she is is another mystery, her portion sizes must be very small is all I can say. However, there is one recipe for a courgette and goat's cheese tart that I'm going to try making later today so watch this space and cross your fingers for my pastry.
@YoungBlueEyes - I've never seen the programmes because I don't have a telly but her recipes are always being referenced by other cookbook writers and on sites like Food52 as well as on Eat Your Books so I snapped up this volume when I spotted it. You might like Erin Jeanne McDowell's videos on Food52 called Bake It Up A Notch or her own website which is here Erin Jeanne McDowell. She's very down to earth and practical and doesn't hesitate to call a spade a bloomin' shovel, I'd enjoy having her as a next door neighbour and I think you would too.
@Miró - that is a fabulous jacket and I can't wait to see what you're going to wear it with, great spot. I hope you have a lovely week in Alnwick and that you're planning to visit the poison garden at the castle because I want to hear all about it, I've always thought it such an original idea.
I had to walk up to the chemist's shop yesterday to collect some bits and so did a tour of the charity shops on the way there. At the Sobell House shop I found this almost unworn Peter Storm lightweight showerproof jacket which is a lovely fit and has pockets that are big enough for my phone for £17.50. It's mid thigh length with an adjustable waist and two front pockets and a folded away hood in the collar, very like this one. I also snapped up this double sided whiteboard, £3, and these two cookbooks that were £3 each too. Then I went down the road to the Mercy In Action shop and found this Land's End top, £5.50, and these two cartoon books which were £1.50 and £2.50 respectively.

I thought I might amuse myself next winter by learning to draw cartoons, I expect the urge will have worn off before Christmas but you never know do you."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."
