    Weekly roundup

    Holiday: £14.75
    Loan: £7
    Savings: £200

Holiday fund: £14.75 (£234.32 October PADs). Small but steady contributions and allowed movement to cover gas bottles, which still cost £149 for two bottles. Nice to be able to keep adding to the more frivalous aspect of my spending! Travelling to Copenhagen next month!

Loan OP since Oct 2023: £1763.99/£1792.45. £28.46 to go, should manage this by the end of the month. 5% saver will be coming into fruition next week, so this gives me the option of sacking off the loan. The injection is so expensive now, and I joined the gym- already regretting this, but it is too dark to want to walk alone now and I don't want to lose this momentum to move over winter. Got a meeting with a fitness bloke on Monday who will create my program, my goal is to be fit enough to get up Snowdon and not hate every second of it! I would like to get this done before my birthday next year which is in in May so have got plenty of time! Weight is consistently coming off at the moment which is nice, a pound a week and I am finally over that cough, well pretty much!

Hi lurker delurking. How does the weight loss injection work?  Is it an appetite suppressant?  Have you had any side effects?  Just looking into it myself and the pros and cons.

  • Hi @lucielle, yeah it suppresses the GLP1 hormone so reduces appetite, it also slows digestion (this may only be initially) so you are fuller for longer in that way too. Not sure how it works on the brain side but my desire to eat loads is greatly decreased and I think about food much less, which is mad to me! For myself, I had some fatigue when I went up to 5mg, but that is all and I realised it was because I wasn't fueling my body and expecting it to function! I have been very lucky so far! Down 3stone 4lbs now, still a long long way to go, but I am so much fitter and enjoying movement which is amazing.

    Holiday: £89.28
Loan: £7.72- not sending this over yet
    Mortgage: £43.16

Holiday fund: £104.03 (£234.32 October PADs). This has been a good week, cashback on main account: £3.01 and £5.40, 4% monthly saver £14.94, 5% year saver cashed out £93.16 (£50 holiday and £43.16 to mortgage), £6.31 interest from another saver. Noice! Did think about just sending all payout to the mortgage but keeping the holiday fund fed is part of the goals at the moment, already sending over £100 a month in OP to mortgage so something is already going there.

Loan OP since Oct 2023: £1763.99/£1792.45. I have not added this weeks £7.72 to the total yet as I am going to pay off the full amount left. Annoyingly, the team is only open Mon to Fri, 9-5, how convenient, right when I also work! Will endeavour to make it work this week and get it gone before the next amount due on the 24/11. My main goal this week, get it gone!

I found the Mounjaro for cheaper with another supplier and this was matched by MedXpress, so got it £28.99 cheaper which makes a huge difference. Will make sure I keep checking, as increased to 10mg which would have been £195. Ouch. Still ouch, but less so! Will keep this in mind moving forward, can always change to the other provider if Mx decides not to price match anymore.

Went on a walk yesterday that I last did in September, pushed hard in Sept and did it as quick as I ever had, yesterday was even quicker, knocked 10mins off! Managed to get up the hilly bits with minimal rests which is incredible. Made me feel so good, weather was pretty good and I wore a new winter waterproof coat I got on sale from Regatta for £32.50! Bargain, and warm. Walking trainers are going strong as well. This feels like good evidence to see how I have improved in the last couple of months fitness wise. Legs are tired today, but ok, no blisters or sores, amazing. Started at the gym, not sure how I feel about this still, went twice last week. Felt the program was very oh just do this, as he was in a rush which is annoying. Stair master thing is evil, but I can really feel that working so this will be good for uphills!

    My goals currently for fitness:
    • Walk Yr Wydffa before my birthday next year
    • Walk 13miles 'very tough' terrain walk for Alzheimer's in June next year- have booked my place
    • Bag at least one wainwright whilst in the Lakes next year
    • Aim to get more Marilyns under my belt- exact amount I am unsure of as I need to work out logistics and how to get places! But have another one booked for 28/12/24 weather dependent, and have been mapping out where others are
    • Walk the two lake loop- 9.5miles and 'moderate' terrain, this adds on to where I was walking yesterday
All walking based so far, but I am loving walking so this makes sense! Using the gym through the winter to keep me on target, walks on the weekends weather permitting- I am terrified of falling in the mud so will avoid muddy routes. Have done some trig bagging, but disappointed that so many are not accessible as on private land.

2weeks today and we will be in Copenhagen and that is exciting, the walking fitness will help for my plans to explore there too!

  • Excellent work on the walking, it's amazing how motivating it can be when you see things start to improve!
  • Thanks @FacelessNumber! It really is!

I have paid off my loan! £5112.66 has gone and now the loan is no more! Well, technically, it is there until it is processed, but in theory I am debt free!

DH has also decided to try and pay off his credit card, which has £886 on it from his truck- an american cool !!!!!! truck he is working on! So, in theory, by the end of this week we will both be debt free for the first time in our adult lives!
  • Brilliant news. Well done xx
slowly working towards being MF one small over payment at a time :T
  • Loan and CC are cleared, we are debt free! This is such a strange beautiful feeling! Just the mortgage to go now, this is way more long term haha. Will have a think about goals moving forward, currently focus on physical stuff, will think about financial goals. Will save PADs, and build up savings for the future.

    Thanks @southern_chick :)
