It's very wild and blowy here but I think it's worse in NI and Scotland. Keep safe all. 🤗

  • @nornironrose, I dont do desserts, never have done, they were always a Sunday treat when I was growing up so the only time I make one is if we have guests

But I have now started to buy Light and Free yoghurts. Now I dont know off hand what the ingredients are so I dont know if they are suitable, but they do a really yummy sticky toffee pudding flavour and if not those, muller are also doing a sugar/fat free yoghurt in flavours such as chocolate orange. Now they are pretty sweet, tbh Im not looking at the ingredients too closely lol. I get the munchies around 9pm and old me would have peanut butter on bread and butter, now I take one of those  - 1/2 a syn, and add to it half a HEB in the form or 20gr of Naked Granola. Now that also comes in scrummy flavours such as blueberry , peanut and cocoa orange. OMG its revolting as a stand alone, as there is no sugar so its rather drying to the mouth, but mixed into the yoghurt it gives me the bite of eating something more substantial then a yoghurt, and of course Im getting the added fibre. I also picked up a box of Rude health Granola, whole grain, sugar free and bloody expensive but it is also a HEB. Its Spelt and its really hard on the teeth, but again let it sit in the yoghurt a while and its really enjoyable.

I got the light and free ones when I was poorly the other week, ate 4 of them in one day. Luckily my local spar had a couple of packs reduced, cos once again, they arent cheaP

I also gave in and bought some lite bars, not the SW ones, Alpen ones. Now with those you do have to scan cos only  some of them are HEB and some its only 1 for a HEB where as others are two. Cos I rarely take bread now I know I can reach for one of those on top of the granola and not have to count syns

    Morning all,

Wasn't the weather wild last night?  Hope you are all safe and well. The only damage so far is a couple of smashed planters. They were so big and heavy I thought nothing would move them - wrong!   Think we're in for more of the same tonight and tomorrow 😒

Still no alcohol and don't mind admitting really missed a glass of wine last night. I think it's very much a habit I've got into - sit down at night after dinner, put on TV, pour a glass of wine and feet up.  So last night I tidied out two jumper drawers then went to bed with my book!

The search continues for ostrich burgers 🤣

    Today's food:
    B - 45g bran flakes (HEB), raspberries, zyoghurt 0.5
L - tomato and red pepper soup
D - homemade burgers, chips, roasted veg

Hope you all have a safe and warm day!

  • I want that jelly and cream!!!!! Now to try to find a sugar free jelly that doesn't taste of artificial sweetener. That's my issue with the Muller Lite yoghurts. All I can taste is the sweetener.

My dessert of quark etc last night was edible and fairly satisfying so will give it a go again.

@NornIronRose when I use quark as a dessert, I add a tablespoon of Skinny caramel syrup, mix it up and leave it in the fridge for an hour. In my mind it takes on the flavour better sitting for a wee while. I've only ever had it with fresh fruit but may need to investigate other options.
  • @jellybaby, my antsy time is cooking dinner, I haven't cooked a dinner without a drink in hand for god knows how long so if Im going to get a craving, its then. My work around is leave dinner till the last minute so Im rushing back and forth, laying the table, doing the dishes, emptying the dishwasher, wiping down the cupboards , emptying the bin - I do all the kitchen stuff whilst cooking - and as long as I have a can of pop I get through it ok. Once dinner is finished Im good. So yes, keep yourself busy for that trigger point . You are doing so well in identifying why you are picking up the drink and realising so much of it is habit. So new habits have to be formed , rather like SW :)

Actually when I went to WW way back in the day, it was 3 months into my recovery, I went along with another "patient" and we used to give each other wee side glances as what WW was teaching us, tied so much into what we were learning in rehab  Thinking about it its all about treating addictions

One thing I always hold on to, something that was offered to me in rehab, "now you have stopped drinking you can do whatever you want , anything, The only thing you cant do is drink " Now I say I hold on to it, it does come and go tbh, but it really is so true for me cos once I start drinking, hopes and dreams fade away. Same as eating, if I go back to what I was eating this time last year, my hopes for a healthy future are dashed

Interesting comparisons between treatments for addiction and losing weight @Longwalker. Personally, my weight gain was caused by bad habits and they can definitely be broken and/or good new ones learned. I know that the longer I follow SW the easier it becomes as the habits are ingrained. I know when I've been eating out for a few weeks on holiday, I come home craving vegetables as I like to eat far more than the measly portions of sides served in restaurants. It's the same with bread. If it's available while waiting for a meal to be served I'll eat it but I never put bread on the table with meals at home.

It was a rough night here but now it's calm, dry and sunny. More rain is forecast for later but not high winds.

    Today's EE plan-
B- HEB muffin, HEA milk, scrambled eggs (P)
L- ham (P), fried veg and pickles (S), potato? (F)
D- baked haddock (P), mash, mushy peas (F), green stuff, mushrooms and tomatoes (S)
    Syns- 1.5 spread ☹

I complemented DH on the scrambled eggs after breakfast and he confessed he adds a tsp of spread when he's cooking it. He kept that quiet! 🤣 Fortunately I don't have them often as he knows I prefer fried.
