2 years ago before hubby retired, we wrote down everything we spent in the month, shopping, booze, entertainment, petrol etc savings we made on shopping and comparison sites, we kept a running monthly cost for everything so we could work out what we had to live on, luckily we both have full state pensions and have been able to live on that which is the same as hubby was earning beforehand and save our other occupational pensions for holidays etc. it was so good to do this exercise before retirement that we continue to do it now and get quite a buzz when we see how much we have saved on our shopping and how are savings ae building up as we know what we can cut down on if necessary, Happy New Year Savings to you all1
