Hope so Brambling.I’ve yo yo dieted all my life and I’m 60 later this year (not sure that’s right as no way am I old enough to be 60😱🤣😱)
This time I seem to have found a new determination to deal with it properly - I am thinking it’s the health situation that’s finally kicked me into gear. If I don’t deal with it I am going to end up needing a liver transplant and I really don’t want to go down that road.Everyone is doing so well. Even a non loss is brilliant as it means you didn’t gain. XSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

1964 was a very good vintage
I'm also 60 this year and considering retirement but also feel I'm not old enough which is probably why I'm having issues getting my head around it. Nothing like a serious health warning to kick start the weigh loss

Weigh in day today! I have somehow lost 2lbs. I was honestly expecting to not have lost anything as I didn't feel I'd been that great with my eating and drinking, however, looking back I've kept snacks to a minimum and done my best to drink more water...even if its not been perfect, the amount of unhealthy foods I've eaten has dropped.
Cooking up some spiced chicken is one of my new favourite snacks. If I am feeling a bit peckish I'll grab a couple of chicken "cubes" from the fridge instead of crisps or chocolate.
The biggest thing the last week, I think, has been the uninterrupted sleep. I've had the fan on every night for white noise and I've slept through the night, rarely getting woken up by neighbours or city life. This seems to be the reason why I am not really tired when I wake up in the morning and have been able to get out of bed within 15 mins of my alarm going off.
I've also been taking morning dogs walks between 30-45 mins which has been a great way to start the day. Think my dog is loving it too.
I've not exercised as much as I wanted. Did another 15 min workout on Sunday but struggling with motivation after work. Also barely looked at the rowing machine since I was ill.
The next week will be harder as I'm heading to my parents for my Grandad's 90th. Lots of temptation but thankfully my parents are also trying to make healthier decisions so potentially easier than normal. We shall see. I am, unfortunately, a sucker for cake.Mortgage: £116,060 (Apr 2024)

Weigh-in day today - the scale tells me I have lost 3lbs! I was not expecting this at all - I checked two different scales (shared house) and both on different surfaces, nevertheless, the result is the same. Measurements around waist and tummy are the same, but I'm chalking this up as a definite win!
For the past couple of weeks I've made the conscious decision to only have sweet treats on weekends, including Friday evenings. The rest of my diet is ok I think (I rarely have takeaways, cook mostly from scratch etc), but I have a terrible sweet tooth. It's very hard for me to exercise self-control around chocolates, biscuits, cakes, pastries ... so I figured this way I'm not depriving myself completely, but hopefully rewiring my brain to think of these foods as treats, rather than expecting them on a daily basis!5 -

Oh my sweet-tooth is insane. I'm like you with self-control. I can never just have one biscuit for example. I've tried to find alternatives that provide a sweet hit that aren't as costly in calories but still struggle with not eating everything in sight. I pretty much don't keep it in the house now. If I want it I have to go out and buy it...which then fights with my need to not spend needlessly so keeps me somewhat in check.
