  • it's the same old thing as with other stuff like digital cameras, they sucker people in with a great spec but the overall quality of the product sucks.

Working in a IT field and with loads of mates in the same I don't know of one that would seriously consider buying an acer product for day in/day out use.
  • Many moons ago I used to work for a computer reseller and I would never buy acer, in fact they should be called 'pants-cer'

I used an Acer for 4 years and it never let me down once .. not like the piece of Toshiba garbage that replaced it. It's like anything else sometimes you can be unlucky but if I ever listened to people who put up threads saying 'Ban this', 'avoid this', 'don't buy this' then I probably would not ever buy anything.

I had an Acer once, could never get through to tech support on the phone , numerous emails not answered , i ended up replacing the part myself was ony a DVDrw drive for £20 but it should have been fixed for free.

The best tech support in my experience is Targa, normal rate number and phone answered in a few rings.

well at least you guys are not insulting me for "daring" to highlight bad customer service , unlike some people on the techie forum.

your right if you listened to everyone who ever moaned about something you would not buy anything . but this wasn't just bad service , it was totally appalling , the worst from any company i have ever dealt with ( and i have dealt with some pretty bad companys) .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

So are you going to actually tell us what your issue is?!
    Gone ... or have I?
  • To be honest Acer, Dell, Toshiba etc all use the same parts, for example intel motherboards with intel processors.

What you are actually paying for is the for the company to put a badge on the laptop and give you support for the next year or three years on the product you have purchased.

sadley this is where most companies fall down:

Acer are well known for having terrible support, and they do have terrible support i have tried it a few times - 40 mins to get though and moody call center staff.

But then again have you tried BT support lines!! 9And they provide the phone network)

personally i would not touch a Acer because the support is so bad.
