I declutterred a some spider webs from the bedroom ceiling this morning I noticed when doing my hip exercises last night, they were big enough to see by glow of my bedside lightI think the large spider living in my bathroom moved

Hi Granny Kate, Thank you. We have friends in Cleethorpes but we know the area quite well as we were about to start a business there until lockdown hit. In hindsight it was probably for the best. We can always find time for a nice cafe, I think we will go to the tile cafe tomorrow on the way up. I have never been to Scunthorpe but have been recommended to go to the gallery. It is such a lovely unspoiled area, as in not many tourists. We really should come and stay a few days and take everything in. If we come for the day there isn't enough time to visit friends and do other stuff.
So after my last post I invited us to Lerwick for Up Helly Aa. It is taken very seriously, shops closed.Akin to our Christmas day. A huge celebration, a lot of drinking. My days of drinking until 7am are long gone.

Hi all, well I went mad in the tea and coffee cupboard
. 14 boxes and other containers of tea, coffee and chocolate binned including one that was so old I couldn't tell if it was tea or coffee. It had been decanted into a small tin, I suspect for a camping trip, and had just been shoved back into the cupboard when I got home. I think it was coffee but it looked like lose tea
So I have gone from 2 full shelves to 3/4 of a shelf
. The kitchen bin and kitchen recycling were emptied
. I also sorted through a pile of paper stuff, some magazines and other paperwork. The magazines have been put to one side as I can't remember what I have read and the paperwork was filed or put in the recycling bag. I made a start on the sewing. I was going to tackle the pj elastic replacement but I couldn't find the elastic so have started hand stitching the edges of the flannels. I did later find the elastic after mentioning it to OH who then admitted to using some for something and had put it in a basket on the shelf rather than back in the sewing basket grrr but I suppose I should be grateful it was remembered
Tomorrow I have a dentist appointment and I will be calling in to OH's house to pick up mail and check everything is ok in this cold weather. I also have 2 bags of hard plastic to go to the tip if I get myself organised in the morning
@Dizzycap welcome aboard, another great way to count things,
@Mrs SD thank you for my medal. One day I will work out how to add it to my signature
. As for the cheer leading I don't think I'd have any time left to actually declutter if I tried to do as much as you
@QueenJess, I do similar with recipes. The first time I make something I follow the recipe but when I do it again I often vary it, sometimes just making it up depending on what I have in the fridge or cupboard
. Nothing inedible so far
@Vulpix demolishing the community centre sounds quite drastic, are they planning on building a new one? I do hope so.
Right off to bed now, got to be up early. Hugs to everyone who would like one

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
I decided against sorting out a kitchen cupboard & instead spent the afternoon on paperwork - setting up a new paper system for sending birthday cards - more scraps of paper shredded 🙂 & the rest of January’s cards are written. The brisket was absolutely delicious 🤤 served with mash & cabbage. The lo mash & cabbage have been bagged & frozen for the next hm soup. Wudupa. Enough brisket for Thursday’s dinner.
90 - 91 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans - recycled
92 Kitchen detritus binned
Lovely to see you letthemeatcake 👋 Sounds like you have made a lot of progress in your decluttering 👏 What wonderful news - about to become a Gran for the 1st time 😻 & how very MSE to have kept the baby clothes 😊 Good luck converting bedroom 3 to a dressing room 🍀
TheDoolallyDilly, our lips are sealed 🤐 but well done on keeping busy 👏
vulpix, sounds like you had a lovely day out & thoroughly enjoyed the sunshine 😊 Here it was overcast all day but it did stay dry 🙂 I think savoury recipes are more forgiving than baking recipes - unless of course you are GBBO bakers 😉 I hope the community centre is or has already been replaced 🙏🤞Hope you have a lovely day in North Lincolnshire 😊
Soontobeoap, thank you for my medal 🏅 “Finally I can announce that the artificial tree has gone. 🎄I picked a day when DH was suffering with an achey arm and was quite tired to suggest we put it back in roof if he wanted it to languish up there even though we had decided we would never use it again. He just said "oh lets get rid of it then" . It was as easy as that. 🎉🎉🎉. “ I love it 😻 hopefully you can use the same tactic again 🤞Excellent decluttering especially in the garden 👏 You must have been frozen to the bone after 2 hours 🥶
Excellent decluttering SuffolkSue 👏 Fingers crossed that you will get a date soon for decluttering your hip 🤞
Florafauna , good work - every little helps 👏
Excellent work thriftwizard 👏 Poor wee “toy” but if it wouldn’t co-operate then you had no choice 😔 - at least it gave you the impetus to get rid of all the bags 😉
Great decluttering Florafauna 👏
London_1, what a great use for damaged wellies - a new garden feature 👏😊
I will finish off tomorrow as my eyelids are drooping 🥱

Liverpool Anne, after years of fundraising and a lottery grant the new centre should be ready about November.Bit of a result with your beverage cupboard. I have some Jaffa cake tea bags in my sights. They cannot be given away nor are they ever used. I suppose we will keep them a few years then throw them away. 🙄Another gawjus day in the Peaks.:29

Another 140 leaving the house today (so far)
587 total!! Actually proud.
I'm in the awkward stage where there's definitely more space but now it's a mess while we sort things out! 🙈 I'm happy though, so much still to do but little patches of hope all around the house.January 2025 GC 🥕 £144.61 / £400

@Mamaofmanybudgets I love the expression 'little patches of hope'.

2/52 - the top shelf of the fridge cleared of jars. It's too high for me so goes unnoticed for way too long. 10+ jars cleaned and left out for glass recycling. Heard the satisfactory clunk of it being lifted this morning. Although still feel guilty for the jars which were left too long and therefore food wasted.21
