Just calling in to report the last decluttering of the year. Mostly computer related. Storage issues have raised its ugly head again so trying to clear some space as I don’t want to pay for the next level of storage.
Emails 1151
Photos 108
videos 15
5 gift bags reused
6 items charity shop
1 Pen used up
1 Desk my daughter finally took
4 Use up items
total 1291 = 11728
Wishing you all a Very Happy New Year and thank you so much Mrs SD I wouldn’t of got rid of half of this if it hadn’t been for all your cheer leading. x2025 Decluttering 10472⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Final 2024 update -
51/52 - scarf, pair of new shoes, wallet, nightdress and t-shirt to charity recycling.
52/52 - last clean before people arrived to stay with us resulted in a few items to bin/recycling but I prefer to end the year with a broken bra to the bin!
Happy New Year! Here's to more decluttering in 2025.15 -
@Floorenceem - my roommate Di was in the emergency room because of cellulitis this week also. Can't stop draining fluids all over. We are currently using adult diapers wrapped around outside the bandages to take up some of the leakage.
@charlies_tribe - sorry to hear about the dog. It is really hard to let go, but it is often much better for them than to suffer. You did the right thing.
We put out three full trash bins every week, but nothing seems to be moving. Even taking boxes of books to the library hasn't made a dent yet. At least not much came in, even at Christmas. And the after-Christmas sales here have been tempting, but I have made it past them without buying anything. Usually I would have bought a couple of things to decorate with for next Christmas, but I realized that, with the three cats here, not much is likely to get put out next year. I need to pass along a lot of what I already have before I get any new ornaments. I have at least 10 boxes of them as I have ones I inherited too. At least the boxes are all on shelves and labeled properly.
It is currently 12C here, but it will be warming up - I hope. One thing I do need to get is a jacket or warm cardigan. Hope all of you stay warm and dry.14 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Monday: Woke up late again but did sleep better 🙂 Actually got dressed having spent the last 2 days in my fluffy dressing gown. I got distracted from catching up with the cheerleading as I suddenly realised that I had missed the Death in Paradise Christmas special 😔 I have watched it on iPlayer & was quite impressed with the new D.I. 👏 although not quite sure how they will explain him staying for the new series. DSis had an appointment with the pharmacist & now all her medication will be synchronised in future + he has booked her a face to face with a doctor 🥳 So pleased that this new surgery is working out 😮💨 The window cleaner & his wife turned up this afternoon + DH reminded me to get him to clear the guttering at the back of the house. We no longer have grass growing + we have a carrier bag of fine silt for the compost bin 👏
Liverpool_Anne, excellent work 👏 & as I am replying to your post of the 29th, I predict that I will soon be awarding you a gold star 😊 Thank you for my 🌟

QueenJess I do love a ‘round figure’ & in more ways than one 😂 Such a shame that your children haven’t been able to visit their grandparents 😔 you would think that it would be an incentive for them to declutter but I would be afraid that they might dump all their clutter on you 😱 Hmm, maybe best to let sleeping dogs lie 😉
Happy New Year to you to florianatwobob 🥳 Sounds like your ‘Loft Fund’ is building up nicely 😊
dND, you are most welcome 🤗 Hopefully most of the urgent building work has been completed 🤞 & you are now in a position to start turning your new to you house into your home 🙏 You have not had the best of luck with your builders 😔 Lots of positive vibes are coming your way & a fervent wish that 2025 is Your Year 🥹
Excellent decluttering retiredinfrance 👏 You were so close & although you might have just missed out on a gold star, I am awarding you a well deserved medal🏅 This “Sending hugs and hopes for a lessening of troubles next year for everyone and a Healthy New Year. A Happy and Wealthy one would be very acceptable but a start with Healthy and Happy Times would be great.” such lovely sentiments 🥹 Looking forward to seeing you on next year’s thread 😊
Liverpool_Anne, shame about missing out on the shopping trip but you got a lot done 👏 You are tantalisingly close - & I see that the post I am replying to was sent this morning 🙂 so I have very high hopes that I will soon be despatching a gold star 😊 Looking forward to seeing you on next year’s thread 😊
Lovely post nannywindow 😻 Excellent work tying up loose ends for 2024 👏 As to the empty chocolate box, good work as it means it is no longer there to tempt you in 2025 😊
Brie, well done on decluttering to the bitter end - this has earned you a medal🏅 See you later 👋
Florenceem, so sorry to hear about MrF 😔 Spending Christmas Day in A&E is somehow worse than any other day of the year 😢 I do hope that MrF is on the mend 👏 and that 2025 will be filled with only good things 🙏
vulpix, fingers crossed that your new airer resists & defeats your efforts to break it 😉😉 You have been busy 👏 I am also very impressed that you have already started on next year’s gift buying 🤩 talk about organised 🥳 This “Thank you all for your company this year, let's do it all again next year but with fewer difficult times and more sunshine” is such a lovely sentiment 🥹
Foofoopuppy, reading your post I think it sounds like you have had a very successful year 👏🥳 So much so that I need to get my awards bag out 😊 So a medal 🏅 for the bedroom sort out & a Gold Star ⭐ for the successes re your 2024 goals 😊 Good luck deciding on your Goals for 2025 🍀

Last few things out - the books and the mug and a pair of tweezers that were never much good.
Final tallies: 212 out and 160 in, of which 35 were gifts and 50 second hand (mostly books). About 40 things are marked as actually needed, but I've realised my idea of need has fluctuated wildly over this year when ticking that column (amongst other things I seem to have decided a chopping board is not a need, but a sodastream bottle is. Er, really, self?)
Anyway target achieved, new target acquired. See you all in 2025.

I’ve been busy doing decluttering as I go and having it at the forefront of my mind these days. I am proud of 2024 achievements in decluttering and it’s really helped me feel more positive generally. Still lots to do, it’s a constant with DS’s and life. House needs alot more TLC and I feel like I can really perk it up in 2025, so looking forward to that.Today I decluttered the drinking glasses kitchen cupboard, also found many miscellaneous items that have migrated there! Glasses are now stood to attention and it’s a cupboard I open all the time so many moments of satisfaction in its decluttered and orderly manner now! 🎉Emergency Fund: 1000/2000August Grocery Challenge: 208/550

Have done my last washing up and laundry for 2024, I don't do any on NYEve or NYDay
Final figures for 2024:
Last declaration was 2922, end of September.
196 GB data deleted
2500 emails
250 items to recycling
720 bits of rubbish into binbags
31 bags of rubbish and recycling to the appropriate bins
10 batteries to recycling.
4 tubs of shredding
Last night, finally put out the cardboard from the second chair that arrived earlier in the year and was built in late September
Total 3918.
Some old stuff went out: September total was 450 and 120 records were sold, 3 DVD's also sold and 200 patterns rehomed for a new total of 773. Still plenty to go!
Here's to 2025! May it be easier on us all.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.
"It’s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way.” David Lynch.12 -
Back from my dad's, took a bag to CS and boxes for DB to take to the tip. Counting 10 items that could have come back with me, and a large set of shakespeare DVDs that I gave to my dad's friend.
Back home and realise my bedroom is depressing, grey carpet and timeless (endless) paint. I'm in the loft and never hung pictures and now realise that mainly sloping walls but some straight and I have lots of pictures not hung, and have dressing table with nothing on it (other areas piled with stuff) but I could put a pretty vase or bowl that I have too many of downstairs.
So although working from home tomorrow, hoping between work and going out with friends I can make some progress even if superficial!
Some ood food and some DIY bits.
Will head over to the 2025 thread when a little nearer my target but ok that I may not (highly unlikely) to meet it this year!

A last post for this year - I thought I should round to a nicer number 😀. See everyone over on the 2025 thread!
