Hi chums
I hope everyone’s day went well yesterday. We had a smashing day and I was thoroughly spoiled by my family
Today we are all going to Ventnor at lunchtime as my DD and DGS Jack are going to do a Christmas dip in the sea along with all the other barmy folk who like to run into the sea at this time of year 🤣🤣🤣🎅 DD always said she’d do it before we ever moved here and our gentle Jack is game for anything his daft Mum does 🥰
we shall be on hand with hot chocolate for when they run out again
it’s a daft idea but the pair of them do daft things at times 🤣
We will definitely be doing a tip run with stuff by the weekend as there are three black sacks of discarded wrapping paper at least plus other odds and ends to go
I hope everyone had another good day and we have one as well
take care everyone and enjoy the rest if you don’t have to work
cheers JackieO xxx

I hope everyone is having a lovely time.
We had a busy but great day yesterday - my body is very sore from standing to cook the dinner and do the washing up but it was worth it as we never have a home cooked roast dinner during the year. OH declared it the best Christmas dinner I have made.
We have a couple more days here so will have a quiet one today then start the packing up tomorrow. Have had a really lovely time and am looking forward to getting home and starting on with dealing with frogs, finishing the paper piles and keeping on top of what comes in.
OH has given me a couple of notebooks and a 2025 planning book so I hope this will keep down the piles of lists and bits of paper with things I want to remember scribbled on them - better organisation will hopefully prevent piles of paper forming in the first place.
The one thing I haven't found a solution for is the number of books we have constantly coming in. We are very good at letting go the 'easy reads' once we have read them - the problem is reference books as we are both keen to learn new things about a number of subjects and we like to keep the books to refer back. We both need to think about this - perhaps that's the goal for 2026!

Hope everyone is managing the festive time as I know it can be difficult too.
DD 2 gone to her dad's and DD1 back to her new rented flat - and has a pile of things including little table and chair to collect.
Adding 2 items of clothing DD1 taking back and another book. DD1 helped me find more to go in CS bag, think I've already counted 2 coats, but added poster and 6 old mobile phones (DD1), 12 coloured pencils (yes, counting individually)
Jumper, top, 4 books, bracelet in CS bag (2 large bags now to drop off if they will take donations tomorrow),
found note with other things got in black bin (learning to overcome my fear of things going to waste by not going to recycling or donations) - tired soap dish and 2 partly melted spatulas (still technically useable but I have one that isn't melted at all)
33 to add 1897
and gave DD1 a key ring so 1898.#
I am going to focus on a few frogs later today, and hopefully desk drawers so may have a few small things which may be counted individually, even if I don't get to target it feels different, and DD1 said first time she's been round and its felt different and less cluttered.... still some way but having stopped wombling definitely helps!20 -
Day 3 of being with relatives! Am absolutely shattered (ok fatigued) and will be having a rest day tomorrow (not moving very far from my bed) although I may lurch downstairs to finally watch Gavin & Stacey…..
I have been a good neighbour and reminded my closest neighbours that today is Thursday and tomorrow will be a full bin day…….🤣⭐️⭐️⭐️🥇🥇🥇 2024 decluttering

Hi, I hope you have all had a good few days. I know this time of year can be emotional.
I have to admit shedding a tear the other day at a brass band. My Dad loved a brass band. It caught me unaware, he died 40 years ago.We have been so busy. Luckily Dd1 has taken over the job of party planner and cook. Everyone has now gone to far flung parts of the country and today is our first day for ages without socialising.
We went out for vegan cheese today as I was craving cauliflower cheese. Oops. Bought several pieces of clothing and some Christmas earrings, also some candles for gifts. I have yet to try the clothes on, so some may be returned yet. Mr V has new shirts to try on too.I think I will finish the decluttering strong this year. Wore some Ugg boots today which are just not supportive enough for me, so they will be going. I am itching to take the decorations down and I can feel a cull coming on there.Hardly anything came in over Christmas. Aftershave and some outrageous slippers for me. Mr V says they are from a Wallace and Grommit film. So comfy though. Think Kanye boots. Haha. We didn’t over buy food so are back to our usual diet. Oh we do have dozens of mince pies in the freezer which were left over from the Carol concerts.I stopped counting items out in April. I think I was in the couple of hundreds then and I have continued at a steady pace. I imagine it will be at least 1000 things gone.I am home alone tomorrow. I am going to empty out the cupboard under the stairs and start to put some decorations away.
As for learning to crochet Muddy, go for it. I taught DD2 this year and she is making all sorts now. Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy and grows fast. One of the ladies at my craft group watched my demo, had a very quick stab at it and announced she would never be able to do it and she would learn to knit instead. Same again so I guess she will never learn. She doesn’t actually want to learn she just wanted to be able to do it without learning. What exciting times have you been having/ got planned?Laters Vx:15 -
Forgot to say, there was a little lad walking round Sainsbury’s today singing Police Navidad.:16
