It was a lovely but very busy Christmas Day with everyone here and far, far too much food. I need to make notes and adjust my catering as I no longer have to feed multiple teen appetites. There are just the two of us now to get through the leftovers. Luckily, I have space in the freezer so we will stash some made up meals in there for ding cuisine in the future. Yesterday was a day to relax and today we are going out to have a walk and a car picnic. Turkey sandwiches and mince pies obviously 😂 I still need to put the house back together but there is no desperate rush so that might happen tomorrow.
All the big present stash has vanished and we have been left with thoughtful gifts from our children, grandchildren and our gifts to each other. I am looking forward to reading the new Richard Osman book and getting organised with my new diary. Not to mention the delicious chocolates which I have already made a start on.Like others of you, there are loved ones that I remember, miss and reflect on, particularly at this time of year. Peace and love to you xx17 -
Good afternoon all! I can't believe how long it has been since I last posted, I have been reading along when I can though. I'm sending love, hugs and condolences to all who need them.
I just wanted to pop on and say that I hope you have all had an amazing Christmas and wishing you all a very happy new year!
It has been so busy here. DD3s friend that has been living with us since the beginning of summer, their mum suddenly became ill and died at halloween, then her mum (child's grandmother) died 3 weeks later. Its been very tough for us all but we are trying to do everything we can to help the child through it, i cant even begin to imagine how they are feeling.
We helped to empty as much of the house as we could, so although decluttering it wasn't my things.
Child is still with us.
DD1 gave birth to our second grandchild a little early at the beginning of December. After having a couple of weeks before worrying as he was breach and measuring small, he flipped himself around in time and was just under 7LB so not as tiny as the scans had said.
We have 2 very poorly dogs. 1 has been poorly for a long time but the other has happened in the last 3 weeks and the antibiotics, anti sickness/other end meds, and steroids don't seem to be working. The vet now thinks it's probably intestinal cancer. We can have her scanned to confirm but at 13 (lab) she's probably getting to old for any of the treatments and may not wake up from the anesthetic. I really don't want to make that decision for either of them.
So with everything going on, I've not managed much decluttering but I do still have quite a list to posy later and plenty to go at moving in to 2025. I'll post my up yo date list later as have some bits to add.LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554
Mortgage@1 June 18 - £76350
Total debt @june 18 £102311
Debt Jan 25 £8282
Mortgage £51215. Total debt now £5949719 -

I'm glad there's some nice news tucked in with the bad stuff. And sounds like you're doing the right thing looking after DD3's friend during a dreadful time as well.
So difficult with pets as they can't tell you what they'd like you to do. Been there a few times too many so know it's rarely an easy decision.

@charlies_tribe , sorry to hear so much going and so much sadness with lovely new life and new beginnings. As others have said hopefully a kinder 2025
I forgot to count 2 items I'd be hoarding for presents and not found right present so given yo dd2 to pass on to her dad's friends etc.
2 large bags went to cs and asked for a couple.of their bags to fill and the lady gave me about 10! I said I'll just take a few but she said you're in here so much often with bags take all . So a challenge although already added a heavy winter coat - it's my least favourite and don't often wear my favourite so time to go.
Dd1 picked up furniture but left jewellery box but them took one set of glasses (left 2 sets she could take) ,
Not made much progress on frogs
New declutter no 1904. I count bags when they go out as usually I add more to them and forget to count!
Going to my dad's again to sort papers and will count things thar otherwise would make themselves come to mine!15 -
I am sorry to hear about peoples troubles. I hope you all know that you will find kindness and support here. Here's hoping for a better 2025, for everyone.
to go / out today
used up perfume
old slippers
2 pairs of gold earrings to be sold, never worn
old diary
Ugg boots
dinosaur phone wire majiggers ? new in box
battery Christmas lights given to DD’s OH
24 mince pies taken to Mr V's work in a tin which doesn't have to come home.
large bag of soft plastics
Christmas cards cut up. Backs recycled, fronts for a lady who makes cards for charity.6 wine glasses
12 glass tumblers bnib
sweat shirt when it's dry
clothes airers leg broke off. Think it couldn't take the amount of wet washing I have been putting on it.
lots of Crimbo limbo washing done.
Went through my jewellery to find something to wear NYE. Mr V is working his last ever gig and I have been invited to a party. First NYE out for me for about 35 years.
Sitting room,Kitchen and bathroom decs ( I know , I am sorry, it's just a few battery fairy lights) dismantled and packed away under the stairs. bags of tat shoved under the stairs sorted and contents dealt with.
The bags of tat contained some Christmas crafting items I didn’t have time to make. I’m going to get ahead and get them done when I have finished DS’s jumper.I have made up a bag of Christmas decorations to donate to the chazzer next November.
New purchases tried on. We are both keeping 2 items each. Pleased to say the ones being returned are too big for me. What I actually need is some new yoga pants and a black vest. Not the sequins I have bought.
The house is still not tidy, even after being on it all day. I got slower and slower as the day progressed. It won't take too much time to finish it tomorrow. Under the stairs looks amazing though. I have got a shopping bag of 8p veg in there as its cold due to an air brick. Soup till June!

small but fractious (!) declutter on Christmas day when OH was rushing about to get dinner ready and managed to walk into a wall with one of the large wine glasses. Cue much vivid language. Fortunately it was just a glass and no injury and it wasn't even a special glass so all ok. Took a bit of sweeping up and a couple of hooverings to ensure all was off the floor. It's a small blessing in that we have at least 5 times the number of necessary wine glasses necessary for a 2 adult household. Extra happy that it wasn't one of the new to us but antique hand blown hock glasses that arrived last month.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Morning everyone. Today is Saturday ….. I am reminding myself more than anyone else! I had plans to do Lots of the Things today and managed breakfast for the dogs and sorted out my banking which was good considering. But I haven’t slept well for days so brought my coffee back to bed.As long as there is some washing and general tidying up later I’ll be happy with that.Already thinking about 2025 plans and remortgage will be in there, plus a continuation of PIP, our will and hopefully a better step count!⭐️⭐️⭐️🥇🥇🥇 2024 decluttering

@charlies_tribe - I am so sorry about your dog’s health problems, sending hugs along with the others as I also understand how it feels. You are balancing many difficult situations and I am sure you are providing all the love and comfort needed by children and dogs. Your daughter’s friend will never forget the support you have given.I must do a bit of decluttering today, sort out the recycling and get more into the freezer. The laundry basket is full too so I need to make a start on that.Don’t overdo things anyone and remember to take care of yourselves xx18
