It is with a heavy heart I must announce that George the spider has been decluttered. Now whether it was a simple case of the younger gardener walking through the web or if, perhaps, Owen has decided to adopt George as his own. I wouldn't mind that too much as Owen is a lovely chap and has, I believe, a good heart.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @regnbue - yes my daughter has drafted an email to send to solicitors tomorrow if we don't get anything by lunchtime. I understand from Estate Agent that solicitor has gone off sick and her secretary 'knows nothing'. It will be two weeks tomorrow since they received answers to whatever questions she asked vendors (I have no idea what they asked as I wasn't consulted and she has ignored my query about this). I have asked lots of questions none of which have been answered. I was just sent a copy of gas report and EPC and told she would do a report in due course.

I had a day indoors - sorting stuff for V and taking photos then listing.
I can't find a pair of shoes that have sold so tomorrow I will have to go through all the bags of stock. I write down each item as it goes into a bag after listing so not sure what has happened.
C didn't get the supermarket food tonight - you get 10 minutes to reply so we didn't have to do that job.
Mr F popped to SA to check if the hopper was blocked and see if any donations were outside.

Perhaps George has found a lady love to share his life with and spun away to make baby Georges and Georginas
Gosh I am an old romantic.
beautiful old style sausage and creamy mash with thick gloopy gravy, and broccoli and green beans, real warming comfort food on a chilly misty night.
The boys pumpkins were lit and placed on the wall in front of the nouse and we had about a dozen young visitors all dressed up over a period of around an hour or so. Some of the little ones were so sweet and polite. One little girl was so just so excited with he Mum and Tess said what have you come as and she whispered 'a nice fairy cos my granny says I'm a nice little girl' my daughter said 'well nice little fairies get two handfuls of sweeties' .And she looked at her mum and said can I really have two handfuls and her Mum said only if you save some for daddy. Oh I will she said because he's a nice daddymy DD said well nice daddies deserve some sweeties as well..off she went beaming ear to ear, and DD heard her say other Mum .isn't she a nice lady Mummy I hope she gets so sweeties as well tonight
DD brought up her five children, and now they are grown and flown I think she misses the fun she would have with them she would dress the house as well sometimes as the boys, I think she enjoyed as much if not more than the children

OH cleaned the top of the washing machine and td without being asked. He has also put the washing powders and liquids into a box so they are easier to find and won't fall down the back of the machines. He tells me my training is working however it has only taken 15+ years to get this far.
He is definitely doing better than me at the moment - I didn't touch either frog yesterday but I did do some tidying and library book reading.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅13 -

I forgot to post yesterday 🙊 so here goes 😉 Thursday is overcast but dry with a forecast high of 16°C. I was up & dressed by 09:00 & DH had made my first cuppa. Before bed I had sorted out clothing including bike helmet & jacket. Out the door by 09:30. Atypically traffic was light & even the half a dozen roadwork traffic lights didn’t really delay us. We arrived 09:50 & I was booked in a couple of minutes later. Appointment was for 10:20 but only went in 10:30 & waiting outside for DH @ 10:40. Picked up 10:50 & home by 11:10 🙂 Touch wood, no ill effects from yesterday’s jabs although both arms feel a bit sore ☹️ I wrote a shopping list for DH & he & DSis went to MrS. Whilst I was putting away the shopping DH carved two pumpkins - freehand. He is not well at the moment - scratchy throat which has moved down to his chest & a high pitched squeaky voice - he sounds rather like Alvin 😉 First trick or treaters turned up at 17:00 then a steady flow for the next 2.5 hours. The costumes this year were mostly fantastic 🤩 nearly every child had made a real effort 😊 I especially liked the flashing lights masks - very creepy. I think we probably had 50+ people come to the door (I am including accompanying adults) Here is a picture of one of the pumpkins
DH spent a lot of time in bed as he felt so rough, so we ordered in - burger & fries. Wudupa
2012 - 2014 Kitchen recycling, newspaper, glass jar - recycled
2015 Kitchen detritus binned

Hi, another one with a strange cold here. I have got off lightly as DS and DIL have been laid low with Norovirus. It's that time of year, germ season.
I have also given myself knitters elbow. I have had a knitting marathon recently after a big gap. I wanted to get a blanket finished for the Churches Christmas shop tomorrow. In other knitting news,I have undone the baby jumper I made last week. The pattern is no rib, but it kept rolling up into a crop top so I am redoing it with some rib at the bottom to try and fix it.
This is a momentus day. I am about to cut up Mr V's 24 year old dressing gown to make into a cushion ( for the studio obv) It is very thick, very heavy towelling which liberally sheds lumps of itself wherever Mr V walks in it. He has had a new fluffy Chewbacca oodie to replace it. I have wanted to loose this dressing gown for years. All good things come to those who wait.
Whilst the sewing machine is out I will use up some Christmas fabric and make some bunting or something for the community centre Christmas fair.
I visited the pound chazzer the other day and bought a cushion pad, a jumper which I haven't tried on yet and a cotton blouse with stars on that I will make into a Moravian star decoration. Yikes, I have seen a handmade one on etsy for £82 !!!! plus postage.
Take care, Vx:14 -
Right!
I’ve given myself a kick up the backside (I knew all that exercise wasn’t good for me!! 😊) and I’m planning on delurking and starting posting more often.
UPDATE on OCTOBER
Well, all the bits I remember! Decluttered:
- Old magazines
- Excess plant pots
- Seedlings and compost to the allotment
- My old car (pity I’m not weighing things this year, @Mrs_Salad_Dodger !) But maybe I shouldn’t count that because…
- Large – to me – chunk of money for ‘new’ car, vehicle tax, insurance extension
- Rubbish and 'bits' from back of old car
- Old socks
- Old paperwork – recycled or shredded, according to sensitivity
- More socks. Lots. And lots. Of socks…
- General recycling – PLUS I’ve discovered…
- Soft plastics recycling
- Bag of clothes to go to CS
- Bag of materials for ‘ragging’
AIMS for NOVEMBER
- Hoover footwell carpets from old car and put in the new one.
- Finish the filing then update my budgets and banking records.
- Put seasonal clothing and bedding in 'hooverable' storage bags. Get the stuff I don’t want out of the house.
- Declutter allotment beds for winter and plant more seedlings, bulbs etc.
- Take Christmas
decorations down to DD’s so she can pick out her own bits and anything else she
fancies. (Unless I want them, in which case she can't have them!
)
- Start trying to Make Do and Mend (as well as Minimising more here)
- Go through cardboard box stash in hall cupboard. These are kept either to return (electrical) items for repair or post things DS sells. Get rid of the ones we don’t need and deconstruct the ones we do.
- Try to declutter a lb or two before Christmas (Aha. Ahahahahaha…)
A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!
CHALLENGES
2025 Declutter:
1 CONTAINER (box/bag/folder etc) per day; 50/365
1 FROG (minimum) per week; 6/52
WEIGHT I'll start with 25 lbs (though I need to lose more!) and see how it goes...🤔 0/25
2025 NSDs: 15 per MONTH - FEB 4/15; JAN 21/15
2025 Fashion on the Ration: (carried over from 2024) 10+66 = 76
2025 Make Do, Mend & Minimise No target, just remember to report!
AWARDS 💐⭐13 -
Hi all, yesterday was taken up with the union thing and a visit to the sm. The union thing has been progressed but I think I will have to call in the big guns on this
. In the evening we had no knocks on the door but when OH was coming in from work a group of children were spotted a couple of doors away so OH took them some of our stash of sweets. One of the little ones said happy Halloween which made us both smile
. We still have half a bag of sweets on the top of the gas cupboard but I expect OH will work through those
. I did finish the crochet scrap blanket so 400g of yarn turned into a smallish blanket that will be used in the conservatory when I clear it enough to sit in there. Tonight I will start baby blanket number 1
. I am still looking to book a short break but have had to change the dates as OH has a medicall appointment land and I didn't want it to be cancelled so back to the hunt for a break
I have a list of things to try to get done today taken from the big list but broken down to smaller tasks that hopefully will make them achievable if not all today over the next couple of days. Mostly sorting and cleaning but hopefully some stuff will be binned / recycled in the process. No drying weather forecast until Sunday so the washing will be tackled then and I have a match tomorrow.
Well I have been interrupted several times by messages about footy tickets and my nephew has told me he is just off to Thailand for a few weeks, no wonder he hasn't found anywhere to live yet, still has a room in a mate's house, he is never in the country long enough to look at anything
@GrannyKate big hugs and I hope your solicitor gets back to you soon.
@Bozwood well done on the move
@oceanspirit in my experience 15 years is quite a short time
@Mrs SD love the pumpkinhope Mr SD gets better soon.
@Vulpix is knitters elbow the same as tennis elbow? I got that once from painting a ceiling and was most cross when the doc told me it was a middle aged thingand it would take about 3 years to go completely. Had several injections into the joint which helped but it did take about 3 years to go when the other elbow kicked off
. Shame about the jumper needing reknitting, hope a rib helps. As for the dressing gown I had a towel once that did that and eventually I just got rid of it as I was fed up hoovering up bits of it
but I like the idea of a Chewbacca oodie
. I have seen those Moravian stars and yikes is right. Hope it works well
. Hope you feel better soon and hugs for ds and dil, norovirus is not nice.
@basketcase good luck with the list, considering how much you have done I have faith you will achieve it
The time is running away from me so I must get a wriggle on or nothing will be done today. Hugs to everyone who would like one
