Hello fifi35,welcome. Keep giving yourself breaks and stand back and admire your work. Keep posting here, it helps, and we are nosy 🤣
We had wild winds Sunday, I washed and got dry all the throws off the sofas. Lots of leaves to collect today.
Rather a spendy week last week. We are both having 2 pairs of new glasses. Mr V has all singing all dancing glasses, I have reading glasses so just go for the cheapest. The car is also in for a service.
2Scratters, that's vexing about having to throw food out but it has happened to the best of us. Years ago when I was very hard up we lived hand to mouth and had very little food in the house. I realised that it was to my advantage and I still keep very little in the house as I am lucky enough to have a Tesco and Co op in walking distance if it were to snow bad or such. I prefer the shops to use their electric keeping my frozen goods until I need them.I do have a small freezer but it mainly contains food I have batch cooked, and a few things we use a lot of like peas and sweetcorn. I am with Mr 2S about Quorn it's ok if it is with something tasty to give it some flavour. Not my favourite and I am Vegan!
Downstairs windows, pictures and mirrors cleaned. Some leaves collected and lots of knitting done. How often do people clean their windows? Asking for a friend. 🤣

Hi fifi35, welcome to the declutteratti,
Sounds like and excellent start.
Always best to try and not look at the whole picture, but break it down into each room, or mini sections in each room, even just a shelf, if you do a little, often it very quickky adds up and makes a huge difference.
I've managed to declutter a tooth! Started root canal treatment on Thursday, but it an angry abscess and swelled right up, and ended up in hospital for emergency surgery!!
But I have a lovely window view and can see (and hear!!!) the helicopters coming into Land!!
Should be home tomorrow for nice cuddles with the dog, work for the week is cancelled!

My kitchen windows desperately need cleaning. They haven't been touched for a long time.
I've got another bag on the go for the charity shop, plus have 2 items taken from what's posted on the recycling WhatsApp group.
I've managed to put stuff into the bin as well as put into recycling.
It seems a huge, almost impossible task.
It will be done thoughDecluttering campaign 2023

I clean the windows where the cats paw the windows wanting to come in or busy looking out every now and then and the upstairs ones rarely. Had a a window cleaner who left them dirtier than before so don't worry too much.
Two items out with packaging 4
Added 2 large cocktail/wine glasses and a bowl to CS bag to make it abit fuller and dropped off, headphones packaged and returned but hopefully will come back mended 4
@fifi35 welcome aboard

Hi all, Sunday was a wash out here both weather wise and decluttering wise
. I had a whizz around and emptied the lr bin then went to the footy
. On my way I go along the road next to the river and it was high tide and combined with the wind the spray was coming up over the path. Several people were videoing it
. On the way home along the same road a tree had come down but luckily only over half the road so it was passable. OH had been batch cooking so the kitchen was destroyed when I got home and it is still a mess now
Monday the weather was sunny so I dragged OH out into the garden to tackle the tree again and was informed that we had to get a wriggle on as OH was going to visit the niece as lots of food needed to be taken. We got the biggest trunk down with the assistance of the piece of rope given to me by Mr Vulpix
. OH then filled a massive bag with food and left. I spent my time chopping up the branches and took 3 to the tip. The trunk still needs to be sawn down but as the tip is now closing at 5 I didn't want to miss it so that is a job for tomorrow. When I got home I noticed OH had put a load of jeans in the washing machine, no chance of getting them dry by then so they are sitting in the basket to be put out in the morning, forecast to be dry by 10
and I have sorted another load to be done. I have sorted through the bag of hard plastic and put to one side those containers that I think will be useful for the ex colleague who has requested them. This will probably be an ongoing job as I have only just trained OH to put things in the hard plastic bag so introducing another category of sorting might take a while
. While OH was still out I had another whizz around the lr and filled the bin again and broke up and put in the recycling 2 cardboard boxes that were lurking
.
While reading someone's diary they mentioned that they were going to do a 30 day deep clean challenge and that sent me down another internet rabbit hole. I found an American lady who had a list. Some of it was very practical but other things I found a bit bizzare. This is stuff that is only meant to be done about twice a year, @Vulpix she had clean windows on the list. Bit optimistic in my case but something to aim for
. The things I found bizzare were clean the toilets and wash towels. Now I might not be the best house cleaner in the world but my toilet gets cleaned every couple of days and the towels get washed every week at least. She even said to make sure the towels were dried thoroughly before being put back to use ! Am I the only one who thinks this is bizzare?. I also spent some time looking at the ways different people budget as I think I need to be better at this, no drama but I think I would like to have a nice holiday next year so some sort of saving plan for it would be good. I have a big birthday next year so that would be a nice treat
I have also been wondering about Florenceem and Siebrie I hope Mr F is ok and Siebrie and her girls. Both are always so busy I hope they have just been overtaken by rl. There are others as well. I remember one lady, name escapes me, who wanted to declutter her whole house in about 6 weeks and did it
amazing
@Pennypincin well done on passing the push mower on
@Vulpix the tree will be sortedbut the restaurant sounds interesting
and you are very welcome to the rose cuttings
@nannywindow thank you for the cwtches, some days they are exactly what is needed
@TC77 glad the cats are earning their keep by sorting out the rug
@Moorviews, I also have a bit of a fabric stash but it is in a box under a heap in the conservatory so it will be a while until I get to itgood luck with the pjs
@fifi35 welcome aboard. Lots of help and advice here from lovely people and outstanding cheerleading from Mrs SD
. Well done on the lr, you will have it all done before you know it
@2Scratters I do use quorn as I am veggie and basically OH doesn't really like veggies. I make curries etc and just replace the meat with quorn. OH has said that it is nicer than meat in some things as it takes on the flavours of spices etc so well but it's not that nice just on it's own. I also mix it with lentils in things like shepherd's pie but I do add herbs etc.
@London_1 glad the builders are cracking on
@Brie
@~FlowerPot~ big hugs
Well I am off to bed now so hugs to anybody who would like one

6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Monday was dull & overcast. After initially waking up at 08:45 & having a small cuppa, I went back to bed & DH woke me at 13:30 😔 He & DSis went out in the car for a small shop - a few bits that I forgot from Thursday’s list + stocking up on soft drinks. DH & DSis are back & I have put everything away. Whilst they were out I took the opportunity to descale the kettle 😉 DH & I had a bowl of soup for a late lunch - tasty & filling 🤤 although I will get DH to only use half a chilli for the next one 😉 I have done nothing else apart from cook dinner - sausages, mash, baked beans & chopped tomatoes. Wudupa.
1853 - 1856 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans, 2 newspapers - recycled

Liverpool_Anne, it sounds like you worked like a Trojan on Saturday 🤩 Excellent work in the garden 👏 I do hope you had a gentler day on Sunday 😊 Gorgeous rose - the whole width of your garden 🤩 no wonder you were reluctant to prune it 😉
Excellent work Pennypincin 👏 Good luck with your plans 🍀
Fizz2015, the carnival sounds fantastic 😊 Hopefully Florenceem is reading along 🙏
Lovely chatty post vulpix 😊 Hope the car service is just a formality 🤞
daisy_1571, hopefully Siebrie is OK & just lurking & taking a rest from posting 🙏
Gers, I understand you getting rid of it now 😉 definitely beyond repair 😔 Hopefully you will be able to find another ‘favourite’ t-shirt 🤞
Excellent work with the manuals/instruction booklets nannywindow 👏 I am sure they breed 😉 Your rose sounds lovely & I especially like your description of it “happily rambling with the honeysuckle” 😊 Shame about the dentist visit - hope it wasn’t too painful either physically or financially 🙏
TC77, your response to Fizz2015’s post led me to thinking specifically about ‘leelad’ (one of only a few easily identified gentlemen declutterers) who posted for a couple of years. As you say, hopefully he & all our other posters over the years are doing well 🙏
So lovely to see you basketcase 👋 I still have fond memories of you weighing your decluttered items 😊 & our chatting about roadside Weigh Stations for items like washing machines etc 🤭 Sorry to hear that RL has meant that you haven’t done as much decluttering as you would have liked 😔 However, please pop out of lurkdom once in a while just to let us know how you are doing 🙏☺️
You are most welcome TC77 😊 An excellent day’s work yesterday - you are really on a roll 👏 When you can bring yourself to phone the bank again, perhaps you can ask to go straight through to the complaints department or a supervisor 🤔 Very pleased to hear that the cats are doing their bit on ‘Operation Flatten Rug’ 😉
Moorviews, thanks for the update on Siebrie 🙂 Good luck with the fabric stash 🍀 Hopefully you can make up a couple of bundles to sell & recoup some of your expenditure 😉 I am putting in my request to see your finished pyjamas 🙏
fifi35, welcome aboard the Electronic Decluttering Train (EDT) Lovely to see a new face 😊 I see from reading ahead that you have been welcomed with open arms by your new Declutterati family 😊 We are a friendly group & one of our favourite things is to celebrate each others decluttering successes 🥳
London_1, pleased to hear that your sitting room is taking shape & that DGS Ben arrived safe & sound 😊
You have been very busy & successful 2Scratters 👏🤩 Good luck searching out the spare spectacles 🍀 Shame about the food decluttering BUT better safe than sorry 😥 Excellent digital decluttering 👏 & well done to DH on tidying his shed/workshop 👏
Great work Happy_Kitties 👏 You are well on track to reach your target 😊
fifi35, thank you for sharing your life with us 😊 Good luck on your decluttering journey 🍀
Great decluttering London_1 👏 Fingers crossed that your sitting room will be finished by the end of the month 🤞 & that the kitchen renovation will be not cause too much disruption 🙏

Reading pile has shrunk dramatically and email inbox has been reduced after creeping up whilst we were away. Plenty of scope to do more.
OH is doing well with his list and asked for more - I suggested he finish what's there first however it is possible he is more motivated with a larger list so will check with him to see if this is the case.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅14 -

oceanspirit, so pleased to hear that your friend’s visit went so well 😊 Your comment about enjoying the cleaning & tidying up, leads me to think that you have turned a corner in your attitude to decluttering etc & will soon reach the stage of ‘Maintenance Decluttering & Cleaning & Tidying’
The plan is to start with electrics and move on to a handyman once electrics are finished. My friend has told me that a handyman she has booked can't start until the spring so I shall get the work looked at asap as by the time someone is ready to start, the main decluttering should be finished.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅14 -
Have checked with OH and he likes to have the list topped up so he can choose the order in which to do things based on weather, his energy levels and some things are easier to do when I am out.
So, have added some more for him and he's happy with that.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅13
