Hi all,
@Vulpix yes the blackberries are scrummy, I have munched some as I chopped. Re the not sleeping I have nights like that as well when my brain just won't shut down
. Re the foxglove and aquilega seeds they might not come true but they are certainly worth a try
@Floss ikea blue bags are a brilliant idea, I did have some but OH pinched them for somethingI actually need to go to ikea as I am going to try one of their tin openers, fed up with the sm ones that stop working properly after a few months and ikea kitchen stuff is usually excellent quality and reasonably priced but ikea is quite a dangerous place for me to visit, I tend to find lots of interesting things to buy
@Foofoopuppy I am the same with old text books. I only recently was able to pass on fundamentals of A level physics, last used 50 years ago and I still have my uni books but they are in my sights. I have got rid of my notes though
@Brie good luck with sorting the mouse.
@GrannyKate you might find some of the boxes come in useful for packing things
@Mrs SD not that dedicated, I have watched a fair bit of the Olympics. I have also recorded stuff so I can fast forward through the boring bits
So Saturday the weather was miserable so when I got back from the sm, well 2 sm as OH wanted spray starch and I failed completely to find any after asking young staff who didn't have a clue what it was, one wanted me to buy water to put in the iron!!! Anyway as it was raining I had to stay indoors and watch the Olympics. A few things were done, meds ordered, kitchen bin and lr bin emptied and another cardboard box recycled but I did enjoy the Olympics
. Yesterday was a complete change in the weather and after getting up early intending to get in the garden I was again distracted by the Olympics and then decided it was twot to chop
. The bathroom bin was emptied and OH had taken the cake stuff to the other house to bake the wedding cake and as it takes about 5 hours to cook I decided to pay a visit. On the way I picked up coffee and an ice cream but when I got there OH had gone to the cemetery to put some flowers on sisters grave. I went to put the ice cream in the freezer and was hit with the most disgusting smell so I shut the door quickly and opened the back door. I put the ice cream in the fridge. When OH got back I said something had died in the freezer then we tried to put the tv on while we had the coffee and realised there was no power in the sockets from when the fuses blew last time we were there. OH had realised when trying to use the microwave so it dawned on us the freezer had defrosted! Last time we tried to sort the fuses we thought it was just the upstairs lights from a faulty light bulbs but obviously not. So a bin bag of gross defrosted food binned and I left OH to scrub out the freezer while I tackled the front garden which was in shade by then. A bag of blown rubbish binned and a bag of bush trimmings binned. I did look at the back garden but that was as far as I got
. I came home for tea and realised I had come away with the back door and shed keys in my pocket so had to drive back with them and by that time the cake was done so that is now sitting in the kitchen waiting to be fed brandy and then iced and decorated and boxed for the happy couple. A better place will have to be found for it today though. And another cardboard box was recycled. I think I am winning with this
and a bag of carp collected from around the lr binned. So today I have a load of washing swishing and another load waiting as it has turned out nice again
. I am heading into the garden before it gets twot and this afternoon we are going to Strawberry Fields, ( of the Beatles fame not just some random fields of strawberries
), for afternoon tea with ln as part of OH's birthday celebrations
Hugs to everyone who would like one
1079 meds ordered
1080 kitchen bin
1081 lr bin
1082 cardboard box
1083 bathroom bin
1084 freezer stuff
1085 front garden rubbish
1086 front garden green waste
1087 cardboard box
1088 or carp
Take care everyone

We have only had one viewing on our house and it has been on the market almost three weeks now. We did find a few houses in Broadstairs that we liked, but we were talking yesterday and saying that if our house doesn't sell we might wait and put it on again next year.
It is hitting me now that my husband is fully retired, even though we still haven't got the final pensions in our bank account. They said it could take 6 weeks. I am going to get him to call up today to chase it up. It feels very strange that after a very busy month we don't have much planned. We are going out in London twice next month, but after that we don't have anything planned until April next year!
If we don't sell this year I will book us on at least one holiday. I have to send off for my passport before then actually.
I am about to declutter my wardrobe (again!) and then I will clear and clean out my fridge. It feels very warm already. I haven't watched any of the Olympics yet so I might start today. I don't have anything for this week apart from a blood test to check my cholesterol so I might as well watch some TV.2025 GOALS

It’s so nice to hear from you again Siebrie!
Hubby and I are currently working hard on readying my parents’ house for my dad’s discharge from hospital, although we are not sure when that will be due to waiting for a carers’ package. We are decluttering as we go, but only things that we hope won’t be noticed! My mum is also in hospital long-term, and will need to go into a care home later on, but we can’t really declutter many of her things because my dad would be very upset! It’s all a bit tricky because we live 200 miles away, so are having to stay here for the time being. Oh well, at least we are making good progress!15 -
We just got a letter that the pension money will be paid in by the 5th of August which is a relief!
I have been distracted by the swimming. I didn't realise Tom Daley was even still diving.2025 GOALS

Hi Chums been a busy week last week sorting out council tax and utilities etc. Only one more box of my stuff my DGS Henry found in the garage last night.I knew there was one missing
He arrived yesterday and is staying for two weeks his brother arrives on Wednesday ,they house share in north London and their lease expired this coming Wednesday, so Henry came down with his work stuff as he can work from home
He is a city boy and works as a merchant banker London in the City, but his boss was really good, as the lease for him and his brothers new apartment doesn't start until 9th August so being here is a bonus for us all.
DGS Ben is staying in London until Wednesday, then will hand the keys back to the landlord, and get the train and ferry over to us,
He is staying for four weeks as its the school holidays and he doesn't have to start back to work until September, so will get plenty of fishing in
DGS Jack is also on holiday from his teaching job but he will come down later in August as he has a break away with some pals organised first.
Well its weird almost being a lady of leisure My DD is working full time but my son-in-law is still at home as there is a lot of decorating and stuff to do.But he does all the cooking every night and makes a grand cup of tea
This morning after a tidy round I hung some washing out then was ringing builders about some quotes for some building work we want done.
I'm just about to have some lunch then will have a nice stroll to the local post office to post some letters
I joined the local Ryde library on Friday and there seems to be lots of activities going on there I can join if I want to. At the moment its very warm and the temperature is around 26c-27c So I'm being careful to stay in the shade in the garden as being fair skinned I do burn easily.
I'm certainly enjoying life though and the slower pace suits me down to the ground at the moment. Plenty to see and do. I went to the family history resource centre on Saturday in Northwood, and met some lovely people and had a cuppa and a good natter. My late husband came from there as did all of his family and it was nice to chat about the various names I remember him talking about.
When DGS Ben arrives he will help me do some more decluttering as he's really good at itStill stuff to go to the charity shop and I know DD has stuff she wants to go as well. Most of the cardboard packing cases have found a good home as she put them on the local facebook free page and had a lot collected by people who needed them for moving themselves
Right time for lunch
I hope all the ones who are moving or thinking of moving things go OK for Anyone heard fro Florencem yet ?

Afternoon all. Spent yesterday packing up the under stairs cupboard, garage and shed and managed to declutter 123 items exactly 🤣 which makes the running total at 800 now 😳 Most of it was either donated or taken to the recycling centre. Just kept count on my phone rather than listing items out but included paint, plant pots (taken back to the garden centre), old slow cooker (that I thought I'd already decluttered) and some food tins that were still in date and were dropped off at the food bank.
Have also been enjoying the Olympics coverage and this time next week we'll be in Paris and really immersing ourselves in the experience!
Hope everyone is doing well and not melting too much in the warm weather.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201716 -
Afternoon all,
Really glad my rota'ed work shifts this week include today and tomorrow off as its due to hit 28/29C here today and then 31C (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) tomorrow.
Today did click and collect at Mr T and dropped off two parcels at the InPost locker at the local garage. Out a total of 30 minutes lol - before the heat really set in for the day.
Tomorrow DMum has a routine check up appt at the local hospital (about 15 minute drive) - so will drop her off and then go into the town centre to drop off a small bag to the cs, visit the pet shop and do some other bits and pieces before going back to the hospital to collect DMum.
Also have another two parcels to post - one has to go via UPS which is annoying (can do that in town) and the other one is an eBay sale I just made 30 minutes ago! haha - so back to the Inpost locker again tomorrow on the way back from hospital as its on our route.
1 x WM swishing at the moment. Recyling went out last night, Mac's hutch decluttered this morning.
Fridge and freezer absolutely stuffed full of food so this week's decluttering will probably be that as I'm working Wed-Fri this week. Weekend off so if its a bit cooler might have a potter about the house and do some life admin.

And to really make my day my DGS Jack has just passed his driving test about 15 minutes ago and I’m so pleased for him as where he lives and works is out in the wilds of deepest Kent where buses and transport is few and far between 👍😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀15

4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
I had stayed up until 05:45 (before going to bed) to try & make sure DH set off on time. I fell asleep but DH roused me to say goodbye & set off at 07:03. I woke with a start, glanced at my watch & read 20 to 2. Got up, made a cuppa & settled down to watch the Olympics only to find that the time was actually 08:10 😱 A gloriously hot & sunny day 🥵 Needless to say I have been falling asleep on & off & it took 3 hours to watch the diving 🙊 What a great result for Tom 🥳 The GB team had a good day + I got to see more archery 🥳 A gloriously hot & sunny day 🥵 Also watched the BMX Men’s Cross Country, Gymnastics, Women’s Rugby 7’s, Equestrian event & skateboarding. I did deal with today’s mail 😉
DH phoned from Wales 15:30 gloriously sunny day - Irish Sea was a millpond & the beach apparently looked like it was in the cote d’azure 🙂 Second call at 17:45 & DH was in his hotel room & had already had a shower. He had a really good day.
Dinner for DSis & me was lo steak, lo Dauphinoise potatoes & freshly cooked green beans. Wudupa
1234 - 1235 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans - recycled
