Makes me laugh to hear all the tom boy stories (in a jolly, together way). I had older brothers so always had their hand me downs but had to wear a skirt/dress at school (rules!). I was so happy when I hit high school and they were just happy if you showed up and didn't care what you actually wore. So that was it for me, jeans forever. 5+ decades on and that's still my main clothing item. I do remember at one point when I was about 10 my mom in a fit of despair got some hand me downs from her sister who had 3 daughters. In this was a frilly red and pink dress and I remember thinking "you have got to be joking!?!" Don't think I ever wore it even once.
But yes - like so many others I thought I wanted to be a boy because, face it, boys got to do things that girls weren't allowed to do. Whether it was climbing trees or becoming astronauts or doctors or farmers. It was only when I was at uni and started doing a major in women's studies that I started to find out about all the wonderful adventurous women that have been around forever. Still finding out too as there's so many we don't hear about even now!
I have been "misgendered" so often in my life. Even my name is mistaken by people. But the earliest time I remember was when my mom took my youngest brother and I to auditions for a community play where they were doing Oliver and they asked why I was auditioning for one of the orphan boys. And at another play they needed a child with a deep voice to play an owl but none of the boys voices were low enough so I got the part instead!
My hair guy keeps refusing to cut my hair quite as short as I'd like it but will agree if I dye it purple as that makes it ok supposedly!!! I popped to SA yesterday morning - no donations to sort so I came home. I got a trolley of stuff ready and Mr F took it to the charity shop.
I went back to SA but C was back so I was not needed. I managed to do some crafting.
Mr F finally got his compression stockings.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Hello, I'm not offended by anyone's comments and I think this is a very interesting discussion about the life experiences of our own lives and our young people's. I was a pig pen of a child coming home muddy and scabby. Have had times in life where I've been ultra groomed and others where I've been the opposite.
One thing I do think has improved and that is the fact that young people, on the whole, are more accepting of difference compared to my teenage years in the 80s.18 -
Hello
Wrote on the wrong page but for Saturday I dropped off another two bags of stuff at charity shop this morning.
Moved boxes into living room which is now empty of furniture. Kitchen now looking less like an assault course with boxes piled up everywhere! But mainly sat in the garden and read all afternoon which was much nicer than packing boxes!19 -
Hello all, I can't remember when I was last here and haven't really kept up, sorry.
I had my hospital appointment where I was told I didn't need anymore surgery in that area, Yeah ! It was then followed by a "But" and I now have to have another CT scan, MRI and some other tests to see if the C has spread internallyand into my bones, Boo ! The CT scan and MRI have already been booked for next weekend, so well done to the NHS. It sometimes moves very quickly depending on the illness I suppose.
Yesterday I decluttered some hair by having a cut and reshape as my hair gets a bit wayward and I was so fed up with it not doing as it's told, and then of course also some money to pay for it 🙁
I went through my wardrobe this week and pulled out some items (some I put back, sorry) but I did put 4 tops into the cs bag. I am hoping to loose a bit of weight, again, before I clear out anymore, I don't want to get rid of something I like, that fits and regret it, small steps.
I've also recycled several cardboard boxes from deliveries, I'll have to stop DH's pocket money if he keeps spending at this rate 🤣
Hugs to anyone in need. Happy decluttering

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Apologies for not posting yesterday - no excuse just never quite got around to it. Saturday I was up at noon - a bright sunny day but so cold only got as high as 12C all day. Finished knitting & sewing up the 2nd pair of mittens & started knitting a scarf in basketweave stitch. As it stayed dry all day DH was busy - mowed front lawn on a high cut, prepped the small raised bed, added extra compost to the potato bags & tidied up a little in the garage. Dinner was pan fried pork shoulder steaks, mash, cabbage, roasted broccoli & carrots 😋 Wudupa.

Sunday 08:00 & it is blue skies & sunshine 😊 Standing at the front door with the sun shining on me definitely felt warmer than 6C
Liverpool_Anne, pleased to hear that you have made it out of the TLC Carriage & are feeling better 🙂 Shame that OH couldn’t quite manage to keep the kitchen tidy 😔 although I am sure OH has many other skills 😉 You have been busy but please don’t overdo it 🙏 I hope you enjoyed the Spring Fayre & managed to not only get the birthday presents but also to treat yourself to a cake or three 😊 Thoroughly enjoyed your reminiscences of being a tomboy & never quite growing out of it 😊 although I do hope you are only climbing trees occasionally now 😉 A lovely insightful & thoughtfully written post 😊
Crazycatlady2, looking good already 😊 Quite jealous as it looks like you have a long garden 😉
Lovely post charlies_tribe 😊 I predict ironing in your future 😉
Excellent decluttering QueenJess 👏 & fingers crossed that you will manage to reduce your workload gradually to a more acceptable level 🤞Good luck with your kitchen declutter 🍀 Continuing the chat about ‘pink’ a lovely colour for clematis 😅 see pic
Nice to see you Pennypincin 👋 Some great decluttering 👏
Brie, I think that a frilly red and pink dress would have put me off dresses for life 🤣 Loved the story about the auditions 😊 Good luck with the ongoing negotiations with your hair guy 🍀
Florenceem pleased to hear that you had a lovely day crafting 😊 Yippee to MrF’s compression stockings finally arriving 🥳
Florafauna, I too am finding this conversation very interesting 😊 Thank you all for sharing your lives with your fellow declutterati 👏
Excellent decluttering mhagster 👏 So pleased to hear that you took a rest from decluttering & that you were able to enjoy some sunshine 😊
nannywindow, sending cwtches 🤗 & a fervent hope that your doctor is just being cautious 🙏
DH has been busy again (he is putting me to shame 😉) He has braved the cold & has done some time consuming repairs on his motorbike & is about to plant out a few more potatoes. Meanwhile I have done precisely nothing apart from watch TV, nap & try to stay warm without turning the heating on 😉 Almost a losing battle as the temperature has only reached 12C & the sun disappeared a while ago 😞
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their Sunday 😊

We did a lot of eating out this weekend. We just had brunch at a new to me local cafe. My brother took the TV unit and the bedside table home with him which was good. I'm tired from moving furniture around, but the house does look better. I will just have to keep it like this. We have the estate agent coming tomorrow so I will dust and vacuum before he gets here. I'm just going to hang up the laundry and catch up with YouTube.

Yesterday I popped to town for some cash - needed it after paying the builder. I popped in the community shop - got packs of Asd. shortcrust pastry - 60p - BOGOF.
I was asked to do the flowers by a Church friend so got those and left them in the back sink at SA. I was having my hair done in the afternoon so would do the flowers on the way home.
Mr F took a trolley of stuff to the charity shop.
Got tidied up at the hairdresser then arranged the flowers at SA. Lots of donations to sort out - filled 9 sacks.
Went back in the evening to SA to take in the food delivery.

Good afternoon.
Sending love Nannywindow. Hopefully it's all just precautionary x
Mrs SD, not sure I should admit not even knowing where my iron is 🤣 so it'll probably be getting donated as it is.
Yesterday I sorted through the barbie box, put all the dolls together (30+) clothes, shoes, accessories... with the intention of getting the girls to see which they wanted to keep and getting rid of the rest... they're still laid out on the conservatory floor, they haven't looked at them yet.
I have just been uo and done half hour cleaning up in their room, I don't know how 2 teens generate so much rubbish! 1 bin liner of rubbish out and a pile of cardboard, mainly from Easter eggs.
DH has gone to cut his sisters grass and I'm sat with a cup of tea so really should find something to make it look like I've been busy before he gets back.
Hope you've all had a lovely weekend. I'll post my list later once it's all actually in the bin.LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554
