Hi all, yesterday I met 3 friends for coffee. We met at 10.30 and 3 of us were still there at 3 pm
. The main reason we met up was to try to help support 1 friend whose DH has had a stroke. He is currently still in hospital but there is talk of him coming home. Personally I can't see how that will work as although they do live in a bungalow he has completely lost the use of his right side and can't weight bare at all, has only just started to regain his speech and does get frustrated that he can't communicate. The OT people have been out to assess the house and are happy that a wheelchair will fit through the doors but I can't see how my friend is going to be able to transfer her DH from the wheelchair to the bed etc. They have said they will provide a contraption, sorry I can't remember what it is called, but I have used one in school for a pupil in a wheelchair. The thing with it is it takes 2 people to get the person on to it safely and while my friend is a spritely 71 her DH is a big man and she will never be able to do this by herself. They have said she will have a full care package but she doesn't yet know what that means and I suspect it will be no where near enough to allow her to have any sort of normal life. She has 2 daughters but neither drive and both work full time and she currently does school drop offs and pick ups for the grandchildren. Even when the daughters say they will do the evening visit to the hospital she drives them to the hospital and collects them at the end of visiting while doing the childcare to enable them to visit. She is also in a bit of a pickle financially as DH has made various investments but he can't remember the passwords etc so she is trying to sort out a power of attorney. In other words it's a mess. I really feel for her and I think we are going to have to put together some kind of rota of friends to give her some time to do things for herself.
On the way home I went to the main post office to post the 2 parcels and I checked the cs as I still have the bag of donations in the car boot. The post office shut at 3.30 and the cs was still shut :-( . I did get the parcels posted though at my little local post office though the queue was out of the door when I got there, which is not surprising when the main one closes at 3.30. By the time I got home it was nearly time for tea so just chatted with OH for a while. After tea I got back to some sewing, remember those flannels I started weeks ago? Some progress has been made
@D123456789 well done on the v1nted sales. How does the postage work on that? Do buyers pay the price plus postage or do you have to factor it into the price? I too think £400 seems a bit steep and as others have said there are lots of ways you can encourage art activities yourself. I am sure if you look online you will find lots although if it was the personal interaction your LO enjoyed that would be different.
@Mrs SD lovely scarfGlad you have tried knitting in the round again. It took me a while to get used to it and I am sure it's not for everybody it's just that I like to try new things to keep my brain working
. Sorry to hear about all the hassle your Dsis is having with medical appointments, I can quite understand her being so annoyed, the last thing you need when you are not feeling 100% is that sort of messing around. As for them causing injuries that is really bad, life can be hard enough without that sort of incompetence being inflicted on you, hugs.
@Florenceem sorry to hear Mr F has had another fall, do you think he might need to seek some medical advice to investigate the reason for these falls?
Off to the hairdresser in a bit and I will check out the cs again so I better get weaving. Hugs to everyone who would like one
517 & 518 parcels posted
Take care everyone

@Liverpool_Anne do make sure that your friend is in contact with her local council’s adult social care services, sadly the NHS & Adult Care don’t speak to each other as much as they should at times. The last thing your friend and her husband needs is for him to be ‘medically fit for discharge’ but without a proper package of care in place.Your friend is also eligible to register with her GP as a carer which will enable her to get access to vaccinations and other services and support for her.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

So far today I’ve had a phone call from my son in Australia who left in a rush 18 months ago to start a new job and left loads of stuff in the garage. Anyway I don’t have a garage at new house so we have previously went through stuff and decluttered a bit of it.So today we went through stuff again on the phone. So stuff in bin. Stuff in recycling. Stuff in a big bag for charity shop.
Also went through his book case in his old room and he is keeping a few but I’ve filled a bag for the charity shelf at supermarket with 25 books! A whole shelves worth! It’s in the car and will drop off tomorrow.Set of curtains and a bed throw going to niece .
Have put two sets of things on marketplace to sell. Collection only! First message hi will you take less and can you meet me ! A polite no and a no.And one set of things for free on local FB page that someone has asked for.15 -

Liverpool Anne - so sorry to hear about your friends husband. Can the Stroke Association offer any advice to her? They may have some kind of support network purely for patients and carers or have a forum where she could talk to others in the same situation?⭐️⭐️⭐️🥇🥇🥇 2024 decluttering

Wednesday is an overcast day although the sun did try to break through (12:20) Forty minutes later & it is very dark although not raining ………. yet 😔 The wheelie bin was emptied on time & now has a new bin bag 🙂 Ernie was kind to me again - £75 won 😄 Although having been very generous to DH over the last 3 months, Ernie missed him this month.
Excellent decluttering Liverpool_Anne 👏 especially the freezer contents 🙂 That alone took you past the quarter point to your target 🥳 So a Gold Star ⭐️ is on its way 😊 I wish you success in tackling your fleeces/jumpers 🤞Also sending Get Well Soon wishes for your friend + 💐
GrannyKate, sounds like you had a lovely weekend despite the rain 😊 Of course we are now into April Showers which is rather depressing after March Monsoons 😔 Sorry to hear that DGD1 is so poorly 🤒 I am keeping everything crossed that it is NOT Covid 🤞
Fizz2015, what is the world coming to when it is wet & cold in Spain 😱 However, I am pleased to hear that you still managed to enjoy yourselves 😊
Florenceem, yippee to getting your first day indoors 🥳 How thoughtful of MrF to bring the donation bags home rather than leaving them out in the rain 😊 I hope you managed to get some crafting done yesterday 🤞
Wednesday2000, a busy day yesterday for both you & your husband 👏 I do hope he remembered the spring flowers 😉
You are very welcome zoomtothemoon 😊 Excellent decluttering 👏
D123456789, well done on your selling on V*nted 👏 You might not have saved any of the proceeds But at least it means your annual budget hasn’t been used 🤞The art course for LO sounds expensive 😬 Although I see that several of our Declutterati Family have come up with ideas 😊 Hopefully you can come up with a solution 🤞
charlies_tribe, hopefully once your DH has taken more of his medication he will start to notice a difference 🤞
weenancy & Muddy_Walker - lovely ideas for D123456789 😊
weenancy, not a great start to your Tuesday with both the cats causing issues 😔 However, some excellent decluttering in Di’s room 👏 Fingers crossed that she-cat is feeling better & you don’t need to take her to the vet 🤞
Your house moving is coming along quickly mhagster 🤩 Excellent decluttering 👏 & so lovely that your ‘mum’s frog ornaments & plants’ are going to a new home with DD2 😊 Just wondering if your new home has a log burner 🤔
Excellent decluttering oceanspirit 👏 especially using up food stocks 😊
Thank you Florenceem 😊 Another busy day at SA 👏 Pleased to hear that you managed to get 2/3rds of your birthday cards made 😊 Very sorry to hear about MrF’s fall 😔 I hope he is OK 🙏 & that the doctors can discover why this is happening 🙏
Liverpool_Anne, so very sorry to hear about your friend’s husband 😔
mhagster, some excellent decluttering especially as it was conducted over the phone 👏
It hasn’t rained although the wind has picked up & it has got even darker ☹️ The only thing I have done is update my records with the new stamp prices 😣 I now need to add a visit to the P.O. as the price of overseas stamps has gone up from £2.20 to £2.50 😣
Wishing everyone the best day possible 🤗

Thank you Weenancy & Liverpool Anne I think you have put me on the right track with the art. I will let you know how it goes!
Liverpool Anne I like vinted as you can choose your postage when you buy - I have an InPost locker on my doorstep so I can get it cheaply delivered there and collect at my convenience. Sometimes I get failed deliveries from other companies when I am out, or they leave it under the car or in the dustbin which is very unhelpful! InPost (locker not home delivery) and Evri you don’t need a printer to send, And vinted you don’t have to work out the fees when you sell you get exactly what it sells for. i still occasionally use eBay as well, but find fess and postage etc more complicated.

Hi everyone
@Florenceem - sorry to hear about Mr F.
Mrs S_D - that sounds very poor service for D Sis in L.
@Liverpool_Anne - sorry to hear about your friend's DH but you are all very caring friends to her.
I've decluttered one long and difficult self employment task and shredded half my notes; got to do the rest but the shredder needed a break!
DD1 sold a top for me on v!nted - I recommend my method of selling - give it all to my DD to sell & wait for her to transfer the money to me
I was sorry to declutter the Bank Hol weekend, I had yesterday off as annual leave so a wonderful 5 day break from my FT job - I've got back to work blues so have decluttered half a tube of those crisps to cheer myself up
I also love scarves and have loads - I bought 2 in a CS yesterday. I looked through my scarves when I got home but I like them all and wear them all so I'm keeping them all
Love to all

Liverpool_Anne - Mr F has been referred to the falls clinic. I have told him to tell the nurse this afternoon that he hasn't heard anything yet. I weighed him today - he has lost 5 lbs - been 8 weeks since he was weighed - it will be the fluid that has gone from his legs due to the compression bandages.
Liverpool_Anne - re power of attorney - it took 24 weeks to get it when I applied last year.
Floss - Mr F has a Doctor's appointment next week - I will go with him and will tell her about him falling.
Mr F has made another 2 visits to charity shops today.
Dgd called here with an out of date Christmas pudding that her mum wouldn't use - I will! I gave Dgd the Easter cones for her and her brothers.
Dgs had an audition for a show yesterday - now waiting for a recall.
Builder friend called by this morning to see if the gates had arrived as a job he was to do was postponed - they still haven't arrived.
I have sorted out a trolley of stuff ready to be taken to the charity shop tomorrow.
Mr F has gone off to his nurse appointment - I have to stay in because of the gates delivery. Every time Mr F goes out on his own I say - don't fall over.
When Dgd was here - she was shocked at what people put in donation bags for SA - today there was - a confidential hospital letter/ a used toothbrush/empty DVD case/used tissues/receipts/OOD cough medicine/started rolls of insulation tape/used lip balm stick and a folder of photos.
