Carolbee - are you staying in Kent still? I'm going to Broadstairs next month to look around a bit.Carolbee13 -
I think I'm off to the TLC carriage to hide under the blankets. House purchase isn't going through today. My solicitor has had difficulty contacting the sellers' solicitor but finally got through to them today and they say that they're not yet ready. They're waiting for some information from one of the sellers, (3 siblings).
So far I've emailed the removal people who were due to deliver my stuff from storage on Tuesday and let the cattery know that I won't be picking the cats up this afternoon.
I'm not sure what to do about the house insurance and electricity contracts that are due to start today. 😢😢
I may be under the blankets for a while - it helps me with stress.
I really do hope everyone else's house sales and purchases are far more straightforward than mine. XX

@dND have you exchanged contracts or is it a simultaneous exchange and completion
If you have exchanged contracts and the date was set for today then your sellers are in breach of contract and you can have your solicitors go after them for costs etc. (I used to assist in the conveyancing dept for a solicitors, the things I have seen/heard 😲, I could probably write a book... but nobody would believe it )
If it is a simultaneous then there is no breach of contract.
We had a simultaneous when we bought this house but was OK for us as we were living with parents and were first time buyers and the sellers had gone bankrupt and were moving back with their parents so needed to sell desperately I wouldn't do it again...must have had nerves of steel 10 years ago 😆.
Hope it all goes through OK for you 🤗

Thank you @floss, I am looking forward to it (but feel guilty for thinking that).
Thank you @florafauna. Eldest dd slept well and is in school today. There were no meltdowns and a peaceful morning made such a difference. The health visitor called me today (a callback from earlier in the week) and she is going into the school in a few weeks to run a workshop and she is going to ask the school if it is OK for eldest dd to join in too.
I am amazed at the support I have received, both here and in RL it makes such a difference. It is normally me against the world with no back up.2024 decluttering Campaign

6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Friday is another damp dreary day. DSis has been moved again from the 11th floor 4 bed ward to a ‘cupboard on the 13th floor’ her description 😉 DH left at 11:40 with a bulging bag of clothes + bits & pieces including toiletries, books & magazines & snacks. I think DSis has resigned herself to a third night in the hospital but fingers crossed that she will be home for the weekend 🤞
Thank you all for your kind wishes & yes I am very fortunate to have such a lovely husband he is my rock 🥹
The ‘decluttering spirit’ was upon me so I spent about 40 minutes in DSis’s room - I think I found all the rubbish & I folded lots of clothes & put them back in the same order although at least ‘the stacks’ are no longer teetering 😊 I eventually managed to find the top that she has asked me to sort out the cuffs - which I thought I would deal with as a surprise for her when she gets home. I then tidied our bedroom whilst looking for some elastic for the cuffs - success 🙂 I also nipped into DH’s office & grabbed the recycling bag & waste paper bin which have both been emptied.
232 Office recycling
233 - 234 Office & DSis bedroom detritus - binned
I am now ready to cheerlead 😉
QueenJess, what a mixed couple of days you have had 😉 At least you had a few highlights 😊 A meal out, a gymnastics class & probably the nicest one being the compliment & praise for DS - you might just have a genius on your hands 😊 I am sorry to hear that your last few days of work are proving so stressful 😔 So feel free to express your feelings - better out than in & all part of your decluttering journey 👏 - mental clutter is just as enervating as physical clutter, perhaps even more so 👏 Hopefully DH will now start pulling his weight a bit more & at least tidy up after himself 🤞 On a brighter note congratulations on reaching your first target 🥳 To go along with your own award 🥉 I am sending you a Gold Star ⭐️
weenancy, pleased to hear that the rain has stopped but sorry to hear about the cold & wind 😔 Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday - research + lunch out 😊 Hopefully Di & G’s doctor appointments go well 🤞The coming weekend sounds amazing 😻 Although not a follower of American Football i have heard of both teams 😉 Am I correct in thinking that The San Francisco 49ers will be getting all the support (rather than The Kansas City Chiefs) 🙂 I am sending lots of positive energy your way that each of your roommates tidies up after themselves once they have cooked 🙏 Our hospitals are under so much pressure having been underfunded for years that I am continually amazed at how well patients are treated (lack of beds not withstanding) - the nurses, doctors & ancillary staff work miracles every day 😊 I thank my lucky stars that we still have the NHS & that it is free at the point of service 😮💨 especially as so many family members have needed it over the past couple of years 🥹 As to the catering - once you have started your treatment & have been allocated a bed/chair/trolley you are offered food & drink - at least that is the case in the Royal London.
London_1, that was quick 🤩
flamingo747, very ‘generous’ of junior flamingo to help with the decluttering 😉 Well done on the tidying & cleaning which are both such a big part of decluttering 👏
Floss & flamingo747 - I see London_1 has acceded to your request 😉
Brie, now that is what I call customer service 👏
Good work flamingo747 👏
Dfw38, so pleased to hear that DD1 is now in a happier frame of mind after a day of home schooling 😊 I was also very gratified at your comment “… No decluttering done today - just wasn't time but whereas I would find myself annoyed and frustrated a year ago, now I just shrug my shoulders and accept it. It will all be cleared eventually…..” Fingers crossed that the dwp makes their decision quickly & favourably 🤞🙏
retiredinfrance, that is good news 👏 Now the hard work begins building up DH’s confidence that his foot is mended 🙂 I have just received an email from DH that my DSis is feeling ‘perkier’ today so I am hoping that she will soon be home 🤞If not tonight, then hopefully tomorrow 🙏 I see that I have been very remiss in making awards for your excellent decluttering 🙊 THREE Gold Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (92, 184, 276) are on their way 😊
ilovetea, a bit of decluttering, tackling emails & then crafting - sounds like a good day.
Taking a break now to have some lunch whilst I remember 😉 I have a bowl of cooked spaghetti cluttering up the fridge, so I will warm that through & add the last of the jar of pesto which needs using up. Hope the weather is being kind to everyone & that you are all having a good day 🤞 Back later 👋

8 balls of wool
A whittling book and set of knives
Sewing pattern
Sewing kit
Book

Tea cosy
Basket

@dfw83 I'm glad your daughter has had a good day and that she is going to be getting some support in school. Make sure you are also reaching out for help for you

Sorry things didn't go through today with the house @dND . Let's hope it's sorted soon. I can imagine the things you have seen @Dfw38 at conveyancing end. 25 Years ago when we brought this house everything was signed and sealed and money transferred on time but I waited in vain at the EA for the keys. DH was coming 80 plus miles with the van. My solicitor said to go to the house and see what was going on as they couldn't get any sense out of the other solicitor. Vendor wasn't living at the house but it was crammed full of furniture and stuff including food, washing in machine etc and all his late wife's clothes and belongings. He was there protesting that he hadn't had time to pack and tomorrow would do!! He eventually got a friend with a trailer to take some and we agreed to pile everything up in outhouse, garage and spare bedroom for him to collect the following day. This took hours as no packaging there. In the end our van arrived and I had to unpack my carefully sorted stuff in order to use the boxes and bags. Removal firm were great and their 'lad' helped but they ran well over time to get back home. The following day he sent an electrician to take the fancy light fittings and swop for basic ones - solicitor said we were under no obligation to let him do this but they were hideous anyway. Our solicitor did send a bill for the extra charge from removal firm and for black bags we had to go a buy but it was never paid and I just let it go. I did, however, wish I hadn't been so honest as to give him the £200 cash which I found under some clothes. Do I really want to go through selling/buying again!
DS2 got home lunchtime so I was spared the school run.

so just got to sit it out. I thought they were keen to sell as it had been on the market for nearly a year. We'll see what Monday brings.
I've emailed the removals people but not heard back from them, cancelled the electricity and gas contract and spoken to the house insurance people so know I can cancel that policy, for a small fee, if necessary.

Thank you JackieO, what a lovely house, especially the kitchen. I am sure it will go quick and a new family will be very happy there
@TC77 I would happily pay for postage if you'd like to send pens, set squares, and compasses my way, Junior Flamingo is only in year 7 and has already lost a whole maths set, I suspect I'll be replacing it over and over again!
MrsSD, hoping DSis is better soon. Is it odd just you and DH? Have you all lived together long?
I have house buying envy! Sadly due to physical and mental health issues we've never been in the position to be able to afford to buy, and now in our early forties it's very unlikely we'll ever do so aside from lottery or an unexpected inheritance. It's hard sometimes, especially when looking to retirement one day. Both my sisters managed it from inheritances their husband's got, however Mr F is from a very poor family too. Ah well, such is life.
Today I've decluttered an old piece of carpet we found in the loft last year that's been a makeshift rug as I treated myself to a proper one. It's cheap and cheerful, we'll see how it goes. So +1.Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.
