I am being ruthless this year with my decluttering. I’m trying to clear the living room for decorating
63-64) cuddly toys x 2 used, played with and trashed by the cats- binned
65) Big bag full of soft plastics recycled at local supermarket
66) old cat bowl that already had a bit missing from it, the cats decided to declutter it into many pieces
67) a Perspex bowl that I have used for years, the cats also decided to declutter. I didn’t get to put it away quick enough out of the dishwasher so the cats dealt with it
I’ve been sorting out my shoebox items and bought a storage box that fitted under my bed nicely. Items sorted that can’t be used include
68) a hat-recycling
69-71) small sample toiletries -recyclingDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I haven't done much decluttering since the weekend, work has been busy and I have a couple of medical appointments. I have moved some bags for charity from the spare room into the car I'll try and drop off tomorrow.I declutterred half a box of cornflour down me yesterday rummaging in my baking cupboard which is a wall cupboard, think that's a sign that it needs tidying at the weekendLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin18

the train is rattling along,
The community library looks a fab space and will be great filled with all those books.
Interesting reading about the full moon.

@vulpix thank you, worked late tonight and I have hoarded my leave so I am meant to be doing short weeks in feb and march and taking the last week and a bit in march off and hope to go away. I have a nice boss who will let me carry over abit, - still down 2 peope which as a small team is alot, I have to some more work as they revaluated a job and came out much lower but finding time to do it is hard.
Inspired by you all, I have put trousers and a plate in the CS bag, posted item sold and used lots of packaging and posted DD2 a parcel using one of her shoeboxes, and sent off hole puncher, record cards, clips, some toiletries and her pj top - calculator/s haven't turned up.
old hairbands, and other packaging out.
Guestimate of numbers, and being generous to myself is 135. Also sorted 4 lever arch files into 1 (the largest) and one is going to donation hub for schools with unused notebooks and some plastic wallets. Keeping some for DDs to consider .
Think foxandflowers quotedwilliam morris ' have nothing you do not consider beautiful or useful'. I could argue most things are useful, or will /could be!. Also tidied part of top of chest of drawers (surface clutter is the worst problem I think for me), and deleted around 200 emails. Unsystematic but assume that I will notice more space and easier to find things gradually.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Our curries arrived, so dished them up - we both have enough for tomorrow night’s dinner. DSis’s Chinese arrived as I was eating. Then I tackled the last shelf - some more condensing + more bird food - ood glacé cherries & cut peel. I am rather pleased at how it turned out 😊 See pic (I forgot to take a before pic)
164 - 167 Kitchen recycling, plastic pots, small glass bottle, takeaway box & lid - recycled
168 - 170 Food for birds, Kitchen detritus, non recyclable packaging - binned
Just settled down to watch New Tricks & will then do the wudupa.
Dfw38, hope you didn’t need the hard hat 😉 Lovely news re your eldest DD 😊 long may your new approach continue to bear fruit 🤞Hope you managed to find a few more bits for the Tip run 🤞
vulpix, seems like the full moon has a lot to answer for & now we can include bonkers cats 😂 I think you would get on with my DH - he loves geeky things as well 😉
London_1, hope you had a great time driving back in your new car 😊 Good luck with your third cull 🍀 although it sounds like you already have recipients lined up 👏
Florafauna, fingers crossed that your nasty cold doesn’t prevent your dental procedure from going ahead tomorrow🤞
flamingo747, as you handed over 3 bags & a book to CS, I think you were probably OK to buy a few bits & pieces 😉
Crazycatlady2, replacing the doors sounds like a good compromise 🤞Excellent decluttering to the CS 👏 Fingers crossed that the weather tomorrow is dry, warmish & windless so that the new front door can be fitted easily 🤞Good luck sourcing cheap plastic boxes 🍀 & fingers crossed for good weather next week 🤞Hope you also have a good weekend.
Excellent decluttering Floss 👏 Hope you enjoyed both your meal out & the gig 😊
Mamaofmanybudgets, I am curious to know what you class as a ‘big declutter’ 🤔 Excellent decluttering 👏
flamingo747, shame about the wax melts losing their scent 😔 Fingers crossed that the car service isn’t too costly 🤞
Excellent digital decluttering TheDoolallyDilly 👏
dND, that was a really interesting article & I read a few more of the stories as well 😊 I loved this “Turns out I'm not a unique weirdo, I think I'm actually one of the majority. 🤣🤣” 😊
flamingo747, I think some of the hardest things to let go of are associated with our ‘Fantasy Self’ 😔 My Fantasy Self is 5’9”, with long legs & the physique of a finely honed athlete 😂 Although having said that I would probably never have met my lovely husband 🥰
charlies_tribe, that must have felt a bit surreal 😉 Fingers crossed that there will be no problem with your ID 🤞Excellent work sorting books 👏 Hope the children didn’t waste away by having to wait for their tea 😂
Thanks D123456789 👏
QueenJess, still some good decluttering 👏 Am I correct in thinking that you only have another 11.5 days to go 😉
Excellent decluttering Happy_Kitties 👏 although your cats are taking the decluttering too far 😈
Excellent decluttering ilovetea 😊
Brambling, fingers crossed that yo can get the CS bags dropped off today 🤞 I usually use my cornflour to make a roux rather than having a shower 🙃😂 So very, very sorry 🙊
TC77, I hope they are advertising properly for the two posts 🤞I don’t think it really matters if your decluttering is systematic or not - as long as you are decluttering 😉 Eventually all the cleared areas meet up & all of a sudden you have a completely decluttered room 😊 Some excellent decluttering 👏 & just remember, the more you do the easier it becomes 😊
All caught up 🥳 Sleep well everyone - I will send The Sandman around 😉

Got up early today and fed cats an hour earlier than usual so I could take G to see his regular doctor. Read several chapters while waiting. Then came home, took a nap for 1 hour. Then roommates G and Di went with me to pick up prescriptions. We have gone every day this week to same place for prescriptions; when we got home, they called to say two more are ready. Went grocery shopping and then to the post office. Discovered that the store was having a sale on Hershey's candy bars ($2.62 for 6 bars) that were $7.20. We had discussed getting candy of some sort for this month (chips last month) for those who work at the library on our book sale. So I bought several (okay 18) packages. Some will go to the missionaries who are coming at 7:00 am to work on our backyard. Another day of early rising. Then most of the rest (I may keep one or two here) will go to the library next Friday. I have to wait till then so that the same crew is on duty. We then went to the post office so G could mail his letter. Then went home. To find the phones still weren't working. So roommate J and I took off for Walmart and bought a new phone set (three hand sets for different rooms), cat food, and power steering fluid. Typical of my shopping. Discovered they now package just the gravy that my cats go crazy over for sale in a packet by itself. Bought one to try to see if they will take it that way. Will make things easier in the morning. Home to set up phones, then worked on computer. Forgot to eat lunch in there somewhere, but G cooked chicken today so we ate dinner early. Had chicken tacos. It is going to take me emptying two book shelves in order to plug in the new phone in my room. A chance to declutter in the making.
Bella, the husky, is coming for a short visit tomorrow as we are finalizing the transfer of ownership. Hope to find any of her missing toys before she comes. Do have a bag of stuff to see if they would be useful to the new owner. Otherwise I will check with the neighbors who have several dogs.
I agree with those who think that January is the longest month of the year. It is also the month when everything seems to need to be repaired. Have to replace back screen door and back screen on patio door (due to Bella), get new tires on the car, and now the service engine light has come on. The printer has decided it needs the red color, after telling us to get ready with the blue color (which we have now), but will need to order the red. I probably should buy the yellow also as when I get the red, it will probably change again. At least the black cartridge is a long use one and is newish. Also have to redo the wooden portions of the backdoor ramp as the wood is rotting after 30 years. And when the missionaries finish with the backyard, it will only have one plant in it a Jade plant that has been there since 1959. So need to plan what to do with the yard. Trying to go food intensive - small fruit trees, vegetables, herbs. Prices have been rising here too. Hope to help the budget a bit this year. Can take my time though as we have several sources of food at the moment.
Roommate Di started in Chime Choir which means she has a class every week - for most of the year. We are working out a way she can get there without me driving, but right now I drop her off and go work in the library and then pick her up two hours later. This week however, I have an Endoscopy at the same time, so roommate J is going to do the driving honors. Something to look forward to. Do I count this as one of my outings for the month? It is as exciting as it has been this last year. Taking the bus to meet Mr. and Mrs. S_D was the biggest and best highlight of the last several years. Even the bus trip to get there was interesting and fun. But otherwise, haven't had a vacation on my own since 2004 (Family reunion in Canada). Took parents and friend to Switzerland, England, and Wales in 2005 but it was a working trip for a client and had to care for my parents. Took a couple of trips to Salt Lake too, but these were definitely working trips as I was leading tours there. Being a tour guide is difficult sometimes. Used to travel a lot for business with groups from 2 to 75 so a lot of practice.

Mrs SD, that cupboard looks so well stocked and tidy, well done. @London_1 wow so impressed with how you've got your house ready for sale.
@weenancyinAmerica as ever in awe of how much you do!
Hoping to find a few more things for cs bag and drop it off, abit below half and need 2/3 to warrant taking. Too often I open drawers or look at things and thing, could be useful, or not yet!18 -
