Still on task, more things leaving than coming in. Jumping of the train for a bit of winter sun next week but will be back with renewed decluttering vigor xCount down to retirement 202319

Morning All, the week seemed to fly by with not much decluttering but I am back in the office 60% of my time now. Did have a cuppa with friend on my day off who passed on 3 very large bags of clothes, already sorted and 1 bag to be donated. Now to find storage space for the rest. Then last night went to a local amateur dramatics panto which was very funny and choc ice at interval for 50p!
Today's plan, plant bulbs I forgot about, 2 loads of washing, Meter readings and sort guinea pigs hutch out. And declutter stuff but where to start.19 -
Well lots of complaints flying off to the company we bought our kitchen installation from who finally said late yesterday that the clearance people will be here on Monday - but no time specified. So I was delighted this morning when the doorbell went at 8:30 (that was not delightful as I was still in bed) and when I looked out the bedroom window saw there was a van with 2 blokes. One asked if "that" should/could be taken. He was pointing at the big pile of debris and so I gave him a thumbs up thinking it was the clearance people come way ahead of schedule. Rushed to get dressed and downstairs only to discover the van was gone as was the dishwasher I was going to sell and the oven that didn't work. And in getting to those they have dumped debris into the garden on top of the bushes and blocked the path to our side door which is the one we always use.
I've managed to clear a very narrow path - about 7 inches wide - which I will be able to use to get in and out as long as I'm not carrying any shopping. OH won't manage that but being very ill hasn't left the house all week so it may not be an issue. And we do have a front door or could cut through the garage if necessary.
And I've now sent another complaint to the kitchen company and said they will be responsible for paying for any repairs to the garden.
On the bright side as I was out and it wasn't raining I was able to sweep the drive to get rid of all the nails and screws so at least I can park my car on it again. And having been decluttered of the dishwasher I'm saved the fuss of trying to find someone who might buy it for £20 or whatever. yes better £20 in my pocket than not but I'm willing to let that one slide. Hopefully the guys that took things don't dump the oven back here when the realise it needs repairing. Wish they'd taken the fridge and freezer as it would have saved me having to pay the council to get rid.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Argh might declutter the husband if he carries on
Now says he doesn't want to just buy doors as he wants the sink moving....the one he doesn't use much
Back to figuring out how to move the sink etc then....it's hurting my brain all this math 😂19 -

Hi all, all I did yesterday was sort another chunk of the kitchen so more rubble into the bin and recycling. I spent quite a bit of time texting and chatting to a couple of friends who have some serious health things going on, seem to be stable or slightly improving so I have everything crossed for them. Popped into ln with coffee for a catch up. Several bins need emptying but I didn't get to it before tea so they will have to be sorted today. Annoyingly OH took the few things I had rinsed through from the worktop and left on the drying rack and plonked them down on the empty worktop so they will have to be put away but the washing up was done so I can get to the sink now and thoroughly clean that chunk of the kitchen today after I have put everything on the drainer away and maybe have a go at the cooker which is a health hazard right now
@Vulpix you just need to visit the most easterly and westerly cafes now. Good win on the coathangars. I never know what to do with them, I always refuse them when I buy anything but I always have spare hanging around the house
@Florafauna good luck with the dentist, hugs
@flamingo747, never heard of turning your money over on the full moon, must be where I have been going wrong
@Floss hope you enjoyed your trip to Liverpool
@dND thanks for the interesting article, I can relate to some of the reasons as well, hugs. I also think I am still about 30 but am approaching 70, how did that happen
@Mrs SD, a canal boat, wow. Are they going to live on it or is it just for holidays? I love the idea of that but it would take some serious decluttering to fit everything from my house in a canal boat. I know someone whose daughter couldn't afford to get on the housing ladder so invested in a long boat and has it permanently moored near her Mum's. It is lovely. Another friend's parents sold their house, bought a boat and spend their time travelling around the waterways. They love it but it makes family visits a bit harder as she can't just pop in for a cuppa. Great work on the cupboard
. It looks great, I think you need a medal for that
@TC77, I am with you on the most things are / could be useful and this is my biggest problem. I look at things and see what they could be, a habit I am trying hard to break
@weenancyinAmerica also in awe of how much you do. So glad Bella is settled and no longer a worry for you. I am loving the idea of your plans for the garden
. I have no idea what fruit trees would suit your climate but my dniece tells me bananas grow really quickly and produce lots of fruit in her garden but it might be too dry where you are. I am looking forward to hearing what you plant
@Brie were the men in the van from the kitchen company or just some passing wombles? Very annoying that they were so inconsiderate where they moved the rubble, hugs
Ok off for another cuppa and ponder, time to crack on,
Hugs to everyone who would like one
145 chunk of kitchen cleared
Take care everyone

I have heard good things about ikea kitchens (we will get one from there eventually, working on convincing dh as well... it has been 9 years so far...) there is also a website that sells handles etc that are compatible with ikea furniture so you can change the look so it doesn't look like ikea if you know what I mean.

@Brie like Liverpool_Anne I also wonder if maybe they were just chancers!
+1 Xmas finally in the loft! Mr Flamingo has taken car to garage, could really do with it being something cheap and easy to fix as the car is essential for work and if he can't use it he won't get paid, and the special insurance he has means he can't drive anyone else's vehicle, so he'd have to look at a hire car, completely out of pocket! Still, no point borrowing trouble yet. Was hoping to get garden waste to the tip so I can do more weeding, but this issue has gotten in the wayMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

There were so many pages to catch up on. I felt ill after having my filling done the other day. The dentist said feeling sick was a reaction to the anaesthetic. It has been so long since I had a filling done and I don't remember this happening before. I was supposed to go for a walk on the beach yesterday, but I spent most of it in bed. It looked like a lovely sunny day yesterday as well. I had a headache too, but I feel okay today.
I need to order a shopping delivery, go out for a walk to get some steps in and start another book from my kindle. I did at least finish a book off yesterday while I was in bed. We started watching The Missing last night. It is about a couple who are in France on holiday and their young son goes missing. James Nesbitt is in it.
I didn't take that bag to the charity shop either yet so I have added a few more tops to it. I will take it next week. I'm using up two serums today as well after I have a shower.18 -
mehefin, what a lovely room for a library.
Brie, how vexing. This time next month it will all be a distant memory. You will be all Mary Berry in your lovely new kitchen. I am still very much enjoying my new kitchen, though I am still not quite happy with how I have stocked the cupboards. I keep tweaking.
Liverpool Anne, I love geeky pass times. I would so do the visiting all the tube stations like Mr SD. A couple of confessions. A good few years ago I invented an i spy book for me of picture fleeces. You know the ones with puppies and kittens etc. You would be impressed by the variation. My rarest spot was a native American chief.Yes I think I am barking mad or perhaps under stimulated! Also a few years ago we visited the most Easterly point which is in Lowestoft, through an industrial estate and its just marked by a stone circle. I was in a wheel chair after an operation and it was actually raining sideways and blowing a gale. There was an American couple there braving the weather and the guy had his big expensive looking camera. Mr V offered to take the couples picture. As the guy went to hand over his camera a massive gust of wind snatched it and slammed it to the floor into a million pieces.
You couldn't see my wheels for dust!
I made a tote bag with a tapestry my Mum has done and some velvet from her stash. I wish now that I had kept a few more. A drawer full of her work has been given to Mum's cousin. I know not what for. The bag took hours to make, as predicted the cats were more bonkers than usual. In and out every 5 minutes. Of course they refuse to use a cat flap, preferring a concierge service.
the bag is brighter colour than the pic
